Percy Jackson - Godwyn the Golden

Chapter 46 - The Wheel of Fate (II)

It wasn't just Freyr and Surtur who had been visited by the small but powerful terrorist organization against Odin. Other rulers of other worlds had also been notified. The more astute have already noticed that the atmosphere in the Nordic Pantheon has become even more tense.

It seemed that wolves were watching Asgard from the shadows, just waiting for the final battle, which was getting closer and closer. Six years was nothing more than a blink of an eye for gods and other immortal creatures.

Some beings even noticed that thousands of ravens flew over all the Nine Worlds; these beings knew that Odin was watching all the Nine Worlds from the ravens, always observing, trying to find any traitor.

However, these same beings could hide from Odin's gaze, so they weren't really worried about being discovered.

Asgard, Home of the Aesir Gods.

"How is Frigg?" Odin's cold, imposing, and powerful voice sounded in Baldur's ears. The god, who looked like a golden statue, looked at his father with shocking serenity and replied in a respectful tone.

"Still crying, the tears that turned into pearls covered the entire palace."

Odin remained silent, a slight concern of his disappearing upon hearing his son's report.

"I presume the Queen of the Dead refused to hand over my beloved son's soul so that I may resurrect him." The All-Father asked with a worried tone, but if his concern wasn't for Godwyn, but for Hela having Godwyn's power, it was more than clear.

It would be terrible if such a thing happened; he knew more than anyone the terrible power of his mortal son's curse. A power that could truly kill the gods forever, without any escape, it was absolute death.

"She refused, saying their souls were rightfully hers." Baldur replied with a tired tone. He had just returned from Helheim, but the reception he received was utterly unworthy of his status. Hela didn't even meet him; she just sent a skeleton to relay her answer.

Odin's face remained calm at his son's words; he wasn't surprised. If there was anyone who could refuse his orders, it was Hela, ruler of Helheim, a place even he didn't dare stay for long.

He personally threw the girl into Helheim to freeze to death, but instead of dying, the girl rose as a queen. Odin regretted not sticking Gungnir into the girl's childish body years ago. It would have saved him a lot of headaches.

"Where is Thor?" Odin asked in a cold tone.

"Drinking with the Einherjar." Baldur replied without hesitation, but a trace of helplessness in his gaze.

"How long has he been drunk?" Odin asked again.

"Since he learned of Godwyn's death." Baldur replied again, but this time, sadness could be seen on the face of Asgard's most beloved god. He was also deeply saddened by the death of his little brother.

Baldur knew that Thor was just drinking to honor Godwyn and it was also his way of mourning. However, how could Baldur know that Thor was drinking to forget that he was indirectly his brother's killer.

"A month later, Thor will go to the front lines to fight alongside Tyr; Athena and Ares are becoming a bigger problem than expected." Odin said with an indifferent tone, but Baldur still saw the sadness in his father's eyes.

The innocent Baldur really thought that Odin was sad because of Godwyn's death, but the truth was that Odin was sad about losing such a powerful and deadly weapon. If he had controlled Godwyn, he would have declared war on the Greek Pantheon decades ago.

"Yes, father." Baldur nodded and floated away, heading towards the Einherjar's quarters, who were still celebrating a great victory over the Greek troops.

Watching Baldur's back, Odin narrowed his eye, with a thoughtful look. He felt that Baldur was hiding something from him, something very important.

"I am surrounded by traitors, traitors on all sides." A look of madness and insanity flashed in Odin's eye. A terrifying aura leaked from him for a moment before calming down completely, but all the furniture was atomically disintegrated.

"Is it really too much to ask that people become my weapons to fight Ragnarok? Don't they know that as long as I'm alive, the Pantheon won't die! How dare they not be my weapons?" Odin muttered with an increasingly insane look on his face.

While Odin went mad in Asgard's throne room, Baldur had arrived at the Einherjar's quarters; he could hear the sound of clinking glasses and loud laughter and lewd jokes.

Baldur had no difficulty finding Thor. The God of Thunder was sitting around a table drinking mead as if there were no tomorrow. The mead ran down his mouth and fell onto his beard and belly.

He looked like a true barbarian drinking, not at all like the Marvel Thor everyone knew.

"Brother, you have orders from our father." Baldur greeted Thor, who simply ignored him and continued drinking, his eyes cloudy as he stared into nothingness with a confused, drunken look.

"Brother-" Baldur touched Thor's shoulder, but soon the God of Light's body was thrown back by an extremely powerful punch.

"Don't touch me, damn it!!!" Thor roared furiously, being called brother made his already tense nerves even more so. Images of the little boy Godwyn kept appearing in his mind, making him even more irritated.

"Look at you, the mighty Thor, an imposing drunk. Nothing more than the powerful hero I once admired." Godwyn's voice sounded in Thor's ear, making him clench his teeth.

Ever since he found out Godwyn had died, Thor's mind had been hallucinating with the demigod himself, who appeared around him and talked as if he were alive. This was simply driving Thor insane.

Thor's response was Mjolnir, which hit Godwyn's projection, but unfortunately for the God of Thunder, the one who was hit was an unlucky Einheri.

The Einheri had his body shattered under the force of the hammer, blood and organs flew everywhere while Thor's entire body was bathed in blood.

Baldur returned to Thor's side and acted with concern. "Are you okay, Thor?"

A touch of clarity shone in Thor's cloudy eyes seeing Baldur, he saw his brother and sat down again in the chair. He picked up a glass full of Mead and turned it over, drinking it all at once, or so he thought he was doing, as he had bathed himself in the mead instead of actually drinking it.

"What do you want?" Thor asked, breaking the wooden body on the table, his powerful voice showing signs of drunkenness and hoarseness.

"Our father asked you to go to the Front Line." Baldur said with a worried tone, he looked at Thor without hiding his feelings of concern. "Athena and Ares are becoming a problem and Tyr cannot bear everything alone."

"You're going to die on the front line, poor Sif, widowed at this age." Godwyn's projection, who was sitting at the table, swinging his legs back and forth, said with an amused and sadistic tone.

"I wonder what will happen if you die, will your enemies attack your sons and daughters seeking revenge? Poor Magni, Modi, and Thrud." He continued speaking in a cold and sarcastic tone.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!" Thor roared furiously as lightning appeared around his fat body. The terrifying heat of the lightning drastically increased the ambient temperature.

Baldur just recoiled and watched helplessly as Thor's lightning evaporated the Einherjar's quarters.

In place of the quarters, a huge crater appeared and Thor could be seen holding Mjolnir, lightning still appearing around him, like serpents of electricity. A look of pure fury reflected on Thor's face.

"That's right, feel anger, resentment, and guilt." Godwyn whispered in his ear with a devilish tone. "The more guilt you feel, the more fury you will have. Use that fury to kill everyone around you, including your wife, sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters. Kill everyone, only then will you have peace."

Thor didn't answer, he swung Mjolnir and with a thunderous sound, flew with astonishing speed, disappearing from Baldur's field of vision.

"Thor!!!" Baldur tried to call Thor, but it was useless, the god of thunder was already too far away.
