Percy Jackson and the Art of Gacha

Chapter 38: Abraxas the Graveborn and a new weapon.

So here I am, running for my life. Why? Because apparently that big zombie I had killed and turned into a weapon, was not the last zombie of this dungeon.

How would I know this? Well the answer is currently running after me.

It was a western dragon, four legged, scales of green, black and grey, large teeth with a cloud of, and there was no doubt considering the wilting flowers on the side of the street, poison flowing out of its maw.

I was unsure how to stop it from following me, how to lose it. But I had tried a lot already.

Diving into water and sneaking away on the other side of the river? Useless.

Using Mist to cover my position and blocking its view when I changed it? Same as before, utterly useless. But it did almost cost me a leg, instead I just got a very severe injury on my leg instead. The bleeding didn't help my escape attempts either.

However I did get a closer look at the dragon.

Unlike what I had previously thought, it had some feathers on its legs and some on its head as well. They were a beautiful emerald green with sunshine yellow mixed in between.

Otherwise the dragon was clearly an undead. It's yawbone was mostly visible as the flesh had rotted away, there were bone spikes protruding out of its back and one of its hind legs had its tendons at display, considering the skin and most of the muscle was gone.

Suddenly the System gave me a notification.

[Boss Event Triggered.]

[You have managed to awaken the Grimmonarch, the Graveborn Dragon, Abraxas. Due to the perversion of using one of his vassals, the zombie of Mordrak, turning his body into a weapon while erasing his mind and soul, the Monarch was awakend. He has it out for you. Kill him to survive.

Kill Abraxas, the Graveborn, the Grimmonarch: 0/1

Survive the fight without using subordinates: 0/1

Rewards:

1. Title/Skill: Sovereign of the Undead

2. Companion: Abraxas]

[Good Luck host.]

What do you mean I have to fight that thing! It looks like it swallow tanks for breakfast!

Nonetheless, I had to accept this as I had no way of fleeing. I couldn't leave the dungeon, believe me I tried and it was likely because I had accidentally awakend that dragon.

At some point I grew frustrated and desperate so I used one of my new skills, which I hadn't used until now. It was called Layer Travel and considering that I would be able to get away without Abraxas being able to follow me, it sounded like a great idea. So I did just that. I activated the skill, which then caused the ground in front of me to turn black, like someone had accidentally spilled a piece of the void across the concrete.

I didn't have much time to react as I already fell down and landed on my bad leg.

Outch!

The void closed above me but then I felt something rush past me.

This was one of the most confusing skills I could have possibly gotten my hands on. Sure, I had just fallen through a "portal" in the ground, but somehow I was still on the same street I was before but this time, a few things were different.

The color was gone, everything was black and white. Well not everything. The sun, even though it was barely there, was neon green but it's color did not influence the layer world by much, at most the sky, as it was speckled in pale green clouds.

Then I saw what had passed me. The dragon from before, it was here, too. But not on this plane of existence. It couldn't see or sense me, but I could observe it. This meant two things, first I was free to plan what I would do next and the Second meant that I could limp back to the river I had jumped in to heal my leg. This however, would require me to exit this layer back to the surface again and be possibly found again by Abraxas.

I decided it was worth the risk since there was no way for me to win this if I was already injured.

It took me half an hour to reach the water.

When I attempted to exit the Layer, a set of stairs manifested, which I then had to climb. It went well but once I was about to exit the layer, I suddenly accelerated, launched out of the ground and landed right in the middle of the river. My injured leg soon healed but before I could think of just diving as deep as I could and continue to hide away, the bounding steps of the undead dragon alarmed me of his approach.

I dove down and activated the skill again. The world was once again black and white with a neon green sun in the sky with pale green clouds.

Now heald and in a save place, I decided to take a look at what I had made from that Zombie.

[Name: Cinder Ash]

[Type: Double Glaive]

[Material: Shriek metal]

[Description: This Trick Weapon, similar to the weapons from Bloodborne, takes the main form of a glaive with two blades on each end of the handle. It was made from the remains of the Zombie Mordak and different metals. The blades are apparently made out of a black metal with sickly black bones sticking out on the back of each blade. Red vains puls and glow on the handls, going into the metal of the blades, where the vains disappear but the red, pulsing glow is visible even through the metal. Black runes, almost imperceptible were it not for the black mist they gave of, were etched along the blades and handle.

Abilities:

Bleed: Cuts will bleed until the fight is over.

Severance: High chance to cause crippling damage to joints and limbs.
