Chapter 28: CHAPTER 28

c28 – Jiren Appears! Linze's Burning Will

This aura was overwhelmingly intense far surpassing Toppo's God of Destruction candidate energy. Even Linze, whose power had already surpassed Super Saiyan 3 long ago and had adapted to extreme gravity training, felt a suffocating pressure pressing down on his entire body.

In the entire Eleventh Universe, aside from Jiren, no mortal should possess such formidable ki. As for God of Destruction Vermoud, although his strength is terrifying, Linze couldn't sense divine ki with mortal senses. Gods of Destruction conceal their energy behind a divine barrier, making their power fundamentally different from what he now felt.

"Since Jiren has finally appeared… it's time I test myself against him!"

Linze stepped out of the hypergravity training room, his expression composed but with a flicker of excitement in his eyes.

"Done already?" No. 18 asked as she sat cross-legged outside, her blonde hair gently swaying under the pressure field's hum. She had been waiting patiently while Linze trained in over 1,000 times gravity.

"I've finally locked onto the person I've been seeking. Jiren is nearby. I'll need to go confront him," Linze said, his voice calm but firm. Then he added softly, "You'll stay behind this time."

He knew how dangerous this encounter would be. Jiren, the mortal stronger than a God of Destruction, wasn't someone to hold back against. Linze couldn't afford to divide his attention. A stray energy shockwave at the level they'd soon be fighting could obliterate cities, let alone harm No. 18.

"…Fine. I get it." No. 18 stood up, brushing off her pants. "But make sure you come back in one piece. Don't throw your life away just for a fight. It's okay to retreat if it gets bad."

She wasn't angry. After all, Linze had always been reckless in battle but this time felt different. She could tell he was about to face someone on the level of gods or even beyond.

"I promise," Linze replied, nodding solemnly. "If I'm pushed too far, I'll withdraw. I'm not interested in dying for pride. I fight to grow stronger."

He reached out, placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, then gave her a reassuring smile.

"Alright. I'm off."

With that, Linze disappeared with a sudden pulse of Instant Transmission, locking onto the source of the staggering energy.

Zzzt!

A sharp shift in space. When Linze reappeared, the air was buzzing with tension.

He had arrived in a busy city on Planet Bashiya, one of the neutral sectors in Universe 11 known for housing warrior refugees. People crowded the streets until everything fell silent as the pressure in the atmosphere grew heavier.

Five meters in front of him, clad in the unmistakable red-and-black Pride Troopers uniform, stood a tall, muscle-bound humanoid. Gray skin, bald head, wide oval eyes a figure known across universes for his terrifying power.

There was no mistaking it.

"Jiren," Linze whispered, narrowing his eyes as his fists clenched at his sides.

The aura coming from Jiren was calm almost silent yet heavier than anything Linze had ever felt. Even in his full power Super Saiyan 4 state, he'd never faced such oppressive ki before. This was different from Berserker rage or divine explosions it was controlled, disciplined, terrifying power, earned through endless training.

So this was the warrior even Vermoud feared, the one Belmod once said "might rival the Gods themselves."

"I've waited a long time for this," Linze muttered, taking a step forward, heart pounding.

This was it, the battle that might finally shatter his bottleneck and take him beyond Super Saiyan 4. Whether or not he won didn't matter.

What mattered was that Jiren was here and he would give it his all.

Feeling Jiren's ki face to face, Linze felt an overwhelming pressure unlike anything he had experienced before. It was far heavier than Toppo's God of Destruction aura Jiren's sheer presence compressed the very air around them.

As Linze scrutinized Jiren, Jiren's sharp eyes scanned him back, his gaze calm but intense.

"Are you the one who defeated Toppo?" Jiren asked, breaking the silence with a deep, resonant voice.

Linze hadn't expected him to speak first. He nodded slightly.

"Yes, that was me."

He then took a few steps forward, his tone calm and confident. "Linze. That's my name."

For Linze, this confrontation meant more than just a battle, it was the key to unlocking the next level of power. Facing Jiren was the only way forward.

"…Jiren." The Pride Trooper replied in a low, composed tone.

Linze smiled. "I've heard of your strength. The strongest mortal of Universe 11, rumored to surpass even the Gods of Destruction. I want to challenge you."

His words were respectful, but brimming with resolve.

Jiren remained expressionless, his voice as flat as stone. "You are not my opponent. I have no interest in fighting you."

Linze's smile didn't fade. "You haven't even seen me fight. How do you know I'm not worth your time?"

He paused, then added with a more pointed tone, "A warrior like you… You must feel it too, right? The solitude that comes from standing at the top. Don't you crave a battle that stirs your blood?"

Jiren's eyes narrowed slightly. His face didn't betray much emotion, but there was the faintest shift in his aura.

What Linze said wasn't wrong.

Jiren had walked a lonely path, training endlessly in pursuit of strength first to avenge his family, and then to uphold justice. In the process, he surpassed everyone around him. Now, no one in Universe 11, not even Toppo, could rival him. Battle had long since lost its thrill.

"…Very well," Jiren finally said. "If that is your wish, then I'll grant it."

Linze's heart stirred. He could feel it, this battle might be his catalyst to ascend beyond his current limits.

Jiren, too, felt a flicker of anticipation. Though he had surpassed many, even the Gods of Destruction in raw power, the emptiness remained. Perhaps this unknown Saiyan held a challenge worth his time.

"Then come with me," Linze said. With a flash of light, he vanished from the spot using Instant Transmission.

The city was densely populated far too dangerous to risk collateral damage.

Even though Linze wasn't a hero in the traditional sense, he wasn't someone who would sacrifice innocent lives needlessly.

Jiren gave a short nod, then leapt into the sky, following Linze's ki trail.

Shuushuuu…!

The two reappeared nearly simultaneously in a barren wasteland, far from any civilization. Rocky cliffs and wind-blasted plains stretched for miles. It was a perfect stage for an all-out battle.

They stood ten meters apart. The tension between them was palpable.

Meanwhile, at the headquarters of the Pride Troopers, the monitors lit up with alerts.

"Linze has found Jiren," one of the squad members reported.

Toppo's face darkened. "Let's move. This clash… it could shake the foundations of this world."

Dyspo, Kahseral, and others nodded grimly.

The destructive power of both warriors was immense. The last time Toppo considered letting them fight, he forbade it out of fear that their combined force would annihilate the planet.

But now, fate had brought them together. Stopping the fight might not be an option anymore. All they could do was try to contain the fallout.

"Yes, Captain!" Dyspo responded sharply, and the Pride Troopers took off.

Back in the wasteland, Linze took a deep breath.

"HAHA!!"

With a roar that echoed across the canyon, he transformed his body exploded in power as he entered Super Saiyan 4, a form unique to him due to his unusual lineage and training in other timelines.

Crimson fur spread across his body, his hair lengthened and turned jet black with a red sheen. His golden eyes locked onto Jiren.

A shockwave burst outward, flattening the terrain within a hundred-foot radius. Rocks shattered, dust shot skyward, and deep cracks spread through the earth.

Jiren didn't move an inch.

It was as if an invisible wall shielded him. The gusts of pressure passed around him like harmless breeze. His face remained stoic, his body unshaken.

There was no trace of surprise in Jiren's eyes. Super Saiyan 4 impressive as it was—didn't intimidate him.

To him, Linze was still testing the waters.

And now, the real battle was about to begin.
