Chapter 188: Chapter 188
The people in the World Government are really like leeches—they're everywhere.
"Kaido, our objective aligns with yours. We both want to take down Kairos Flint. Don't you want revenge for that severed arm?"
The head of the CP Division spoke with precision, clearly skilled in psychological warfare.
That one sentence made Kaido waver slightly. But he wasn't a fool. He wouldn't trust the World Government over just a few choice words.
"Hmph. Your World Government already took a beating before. Why don't you do it yourselves? Now you're trying to use us as scapegoats. Smart move."
Kaido sneered, his voice laced with disdain.
But the CP Division chief remained calm. He had his words ready.
"You're mistaken. In fact, our government has dispatched ten elite generals. They're already within your territory and will move alongside you."
"Their identities are classified, so I can't reveal them now. But at the crucial moment, they'll step in to eliminate Kairos Flint."
"As for your status—nothing changes. You are still the Four Emperors. Our World Government only wants to restore balance to the world, the way it once was. No disruption, just continuity."
"This is the assistance we're offering you. And for your prosthetic arm, we will provide the most advanced technology available—one that will vastly enhance your strength."
A cold gleam flashed behind the chief's glasses. His words weren't just promises—they were calculated leverage.
Kaido and Charlotte Linlin both listened closely. They hadn't expected the World Government to act so swiftly. Ten general-level warriors were already embedded in the territory of the Ten Thousand Nations.
While these generals didn't pose a long-term threat to the Four Emperors, a well-timed strike from them could prove fatal. Even generals could kill if given the right opportunity.
"...Fine. I'll go along with it. When am I expected at the World Government's side?"
Kaido finally agreed, his tone firm.
Given the World Government's reach and capabilities, he had reason to believe they could build him a prosthetic worth his time.
"Don't worry," said the CP chief. "The one installing your new arm is none other than Vegapunk, the most brilliant scientist under our command. I'm sure you've heard of him."
Kaido burst out laughing.
Vegapunk? Of course he knew that name. The artificial Devil Fruits were all thanks to that man.
Knowing he was behind the prosthetic work sent Kaido's confidence through the roof.
If Vegapunk could engineer him a powerful new arm, Kaido's strength would increase significantly.
The next time he saw Kairos Flint… he'd be ready.
As the conversation concluded and the deal was struck, the room's door opened.
Charlotte Katakuri stepped in.
Huh? Who's this?
He paused for a second when he saw the CP chief, but when he noticed his mother and Kaido speaking casually with the man, he didn't question it.
"What is it, Katakuri?"
Charlotte Linlin glanced at her son. He never entered uninvited unless it was urgent.
"Mom, I have something important to tell you. It's about Whitebeard."
Kaido and Linlin exchanged surprised looks. They turned to Katakuri with curiosity.
"What happened?"
Both spoke at once. But just then, the CP chief stood up to leave.
"Kaido, we'll send someone to retrieve you in three days."
He left those words behind. Then—flash—he was gone.
Three days?
Kaido wasn't worried. Even if the World Government tried something, he believed his sheer physical power could get him out of anything. Even restrained by sea stone and unable to use his Devil Fruit, his raw strength alone could match that of an admiral.
Still, he decided to take someone along—just in case.
Turning back, Kaido looked at Katakuri.
"So what's this about Whitebeard?"
Katakuri waited until the room was clear, then pulled a newspaper from behind his back.
"Fire Fist Ace, second division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, has been captured by the Navy. Apparently, he was defeated by Blackbeard and handed over."
"Oh? That's it?"
Kaido raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
He had expected something significant—not this. Ace's strength wasn't anything remarkable in Kaido's eyes.
Charlotte Linlin, however, looked more serious.
"Kaido, the Navy released this news deliberately. They're using Ace to lure Whitebeard. Looks like they're preparing to strike."
"Hmph. These Navy weaklings must be trying to regain face after Kairos Flint humiliated them. But going after Whitebeard? They'd better be ready to pay a steep price."
Kaido agreed. But while the two were sharing their takes, Katakuri interrupted:
"Mom… Ace's identity is more important than you think. He's not just some pirate. He's the son of Gol D. Roger."
"...What?"
Both Kaido and Charlotte Linlin froze.
They were shocked to their core.
The Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, had a child? And that child ended up as Whitebeard's subordinate?
The irony and intensity of it were hard to process.
"This is huge. The World Government's really making a move this time," Kaido said, frowning. "Executing Roger's son… That could send a devastating message to the pirate world."
"It doesn't matter. It doesn't affect us," Charlotte Linlin replied calmly. "We're aligned with the World Government now. Our future depends on them. The more stable they are, the more stable our rule becomes."
She wasn't wrong.
Then Kaido asked, narrowing his eyes:
"You think that guy Kairos Flint is going to get involved?"
