Passerby Villain In A Wizard World

Chapter 226: Serenity Potion

"Wow, you're a Potionist?"

Yela asked, finding it incredible how easily Ian had prepared a potion, especially in such circumstances.

Ian didn't know when, but while he was preparing the potion on the go, she had already come to stand next to them. He also noticed Zane on the far side, looking at him intently in surprise.

You know, wizards and knowledge always go hand in hand in this world. So, on this journey, if you wanted to increase your realm and grow stronger, you would inevitably need treasures, knowledge, and the like.

And it was a no-brainer that any treasure was expensive.

Of course, you could indeed advance your realm by adhering to some organization, but for how long?

Wizards weren't immortal.

As far as Ian knew, upon reaching the First Ring level, they could only extend their lifespan by a hundred years. Although it would increase accordingly with each realm, it also meant that time was still limited.

Organizations wouldn't babysit anyone, even if they had connections and talent. At some point, you needed to earn enough money or credit on your own to have a chance at promotion.

And Potionists were at the top of the earning chart. Not just any wizard could become a Potionist simply because they wanted to, you know.

"Lavender Mint and Flame Orbs… Are you perhaps making a Serenity Potion?"

Yela asked again while looking at the herbs Ian was using. Although she wasn't a Potionist, she could recognize such a low-level herb.

"Yeah, it's just a basic potion that can relax your mind and calm your thoughts."

Ian smiled while slightly shaking the vial, letting the greenish-yellow potion inside mix thoroughly.

Then, without paying attention to Yela, he took out two small test tubes, uncorked the vial, and poured out the potion separately, intending to give them to Aurora and Lyra.

"Separate a little for me too."

Ian was about to pour all the contents when he heard Yela's words. So, he looked at her, raising an eyebrow—he didn't expect her to need it.

"Don't mind me. I just want to see if your potion-making ability is up to par. Didn't I say I know someone who can help you enter the Celestial Council? Well, she's an avid Potionist and may help you out if your talent is good enough."

Yela said with a smile, momentarily forgetting her previous condition that, he had to reach First Ring Wizard before she would help.

A Potionist, especially one with as much potential as Ian due to his young age, had to be given a few privileges. Who knew when she might need him?

"Oh... then that's good."

Ian also smiled slightly, a hint of joy flickering in his eyes, and then took out another tube, separating a few drops for Yela to test.

'Heh... just as I guessed.'

Although he appeared calm on the surface, Ian was smirking internally, pleased that his plan had succeeded.

'But I didn't know the person who could help me enter the Celestial Council is also a Potionist. This is a double surprise.'

Ian thought gleefully.

Previously, after Ignysyl stole the Dreamshard from Yela, given her extreme condition, Ian had already decided not to rely on Yela's connections to find the recipe he needed.

However, when he saw Aurora and Lyra's pale complexions and the violent turbulence atop Lina, he suddenly had the idea to expose his Potion Mastery talent.

After all, during the journey at sea, he had practiced extensively, allowing him to concoct a Basic Potion this easily. Fortunately, he had acquired quite a few resources from Ignisia Tower for practice.

And he knew that Potionists were treated favorably anywhere on the Calvora Continent.

Yela, being a merchant's daughter, would surely have some connections. If he could leverage them somehow, obtaining the recipe might become an easy task.

"Here, drink it in one go. You'll feel better after a while."

Ian said, pouring out the contents into the tubes and handing one each to Lyra and Aurora.

Then, he also gave the remaining one to Yela for testing.

'Let her see my Potion Mastery skill.'

Ian thought as he watched Yela take the test tube and drink all the liquid in one gulp.

"Hah… so bitter…"

Her first reaction was that the potion was too bitter as she scrunched up her face a little before returning to normal.

The same happened with Lyra and Aurora, who also reacted visibly before quickly adjusting.

"Of course, it's bitter. I only used Lavender Mint because I'm so poor."

Ian rolled his eyes at her reaction.

"Hehe… I'm not complaining. I know a little about potions and such."

Yela winked at Ian and giggled after seeing him get defensive.

Then, she closed her eyes briefly, relaxing as if testing the potion's effects on her.

Ian could already see that the potion was working, as both Lyra and Aurora were visibly relaxing their tense muscled, and pale faces.

"Umm... although the effect is mild, it's definitely there. But that's to be expected given the ingredients used. Hmm… for an apprentice, this is a pretty good calming potion."

After a while, Yela opened her eyes and complimented Ian, looking at him with twinkling eyes as if she had discovered a hidden gem.

"Where did you learn Potionology, anyway?"

She asked, intrigued. She had never known anyone on Gravethrone with such knowledge, let alone access to the resources and mana required.

"Of course, it's from Ignisia Tower. I got some inheritance."

Ian replied, clearing up her doubts.

"Oh? Ah… I almost forgot there were still some inheritances left in that tower."

Yela said, realizing his source of knowledge. Then, she suddenly sighed and added,

"Sigh… you seem quite lucky. I heard gaining an inheritance in that tower is difficult. And even if you do, aside from meditation methods, you usually gain nothing."

After saying that, she looked at Ian again, sensing a certain mystery about him.

You see, even if someone managed to obtain an Alchemy inheritance from the tower, learning it was a different matter altogether.

But Ian had just concocted a basic potion right in front of her, in such a short time, and in such difficult circumstances.

'A real talent.' Yela thought.

"Yeah, I was indeed a little lucky."

Ian nodded with a smile as if he weren't the one looting every inheritance in Ignisia Tower.

But there was no reason for him to say that to her, right? He wasn't Ignysyl, who wanted to boast all day long.

"Umm… sir, c-can you p-please make one for me too… urkk…"

And just as Ian was talking with Yela, he heard a timid male voice behind him, asking for a potion to relieve his nausea.
