CHAPTER 35: Homenen

Dorothy sat in her office, the dim light casting long shadows across the room. Her face remained impassive, devoid of any emotion as she stared at the papers on her desk. The door creaked open, and a human-fused soldier stepped in, hesitating before speaking.

"Ma'am, if you don't mind me asking, why did you choose Morin?"

Dorothy didn't look up immediately. She took a moment before responding, her voice cold and measured.

"Morin was a test subject from a very young age. His unique ability to manifest and control a new, rare metal known as Homenen set him apart. Homenen is an extraordinary combination of tungsten, lithium, molybdenum, and purple bronze, making it unmatched in strength, and durability. It's a metal that cannot be manufactured; Morin is the only being capable of producing and manipulating it."

She paused, her gaze shifting to the soldier who stood nervously before her.

The soldier listened intently, absorbing the information. "Is he more powerful than you, ma'am?" he asked cautiously.

Dorothy's lips curled into a faint smile, a rare and chilling sight. Without a word, she raised her hand and in a swift motion, blew the soldier's head off. His lifeless body crumpled to the floor. Dorothy stood up, walking over to the window. She looked out over the city, her expression cold and emotionless as ever.

The scene shifted to Blue, who was still sitting in the forest, staring at Ayaan's lifeless body. Blood splattered across his face, mixing with his tears as he tried to process the sudden, violent death of his new friend. His expression was blank, emotionless, as if he had shut down to cope with the trauma.

The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden hue over the forest. The serene beauty of the scene contrasted starkly with the blood and death that had just occurred. Blue remained there, motionless, grappling with the reality of his existence and the constant loss that seemed to follow him.

He couldn't help but feel the weight of Ayaan's words about memories and living through them. Yet, here he was again, surrounded by death and destruction. The peaceful life he yearned for seemed ever more distant, like a dream slipping through his fingers.
