Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Obtaining the Alchemist Job Role
Grandma Lizzie retracted her gaze and turned back toward the carriage, her voice firm and resolute. "We leave in an hour!"
The members of the Rock team reacted quickly, both tense and relieved at the same time.
If they hadn't known before, it didn't matter.
Now that they were aware Grandma Lizzie was a third-tier magic caster, capable of chanting powerful spells, they naturally felt a sense of pressure.
"Captain Dosari, may I examine your injury?" Nfirea asked expectantly, instead of leaving with the others.
"Of course," Captain Dosari said, surprised at first but quickly nodding in agreement.
Meanwhile,
Brothers Bask and Rand sat on the ground with support, while the archer, Lerr, rummaged through his backpack, pulling out three bottles of blue liquid—basic healing potions.
He handed them to the other members of the Rock team.
Watching Captain Dosari and the other two grimace in pain after gulping down the potions, Lerr could only shrug helplessly.
Healing potions, though far inferior to healing magic, were still effective enough to stabilize injuries and enable gradual recovery.
As the only member still at full combat strength, Lerr stood up after administering the potions and walked toward the earlier battlefield.
There, he methodically cut the ears off the ten goblins and two ogres they had slain, stuffing them into a leather pouch at his waist.
These severed ears were proof of their kills and could be exchanged for rewards at the Adventurers' Guild.
Back at the camp.
After carefully inspecting Captain Dosari's injured leg, Nfirea's bright blue eyes sparkled with curiosity and thought.
"What is it?" Lyle, who had been observing from the side, noticed Nfirea's expression shift.
Captain Dosari grew tense; after all, the recovery of his leg injury was crucial to his future as an adventurer.
"This is serious. The skin and muscle have miraculously regenerated, but the bone remains completely unaffected," Nfirea said, then added excitedly, "As expected, the effect differs from healing potions."
He looked up at Lyle and said enthusiastically, "Wait for me!" before sprinting toward the carriage.
Healing magic and healing potions… what's the difference?
Lyle's expression turned thoughtful. In games, both would simply restore health points, but this world seemed to treat them differently.
Moreover, he remembered that healing potions in this world were also distinct from those in the game YGGDRASIL.
Moments later.
Nfirea returned, his arms full of herbs.
Seeing this, Lyle instinctively glanced at Lizzie, who was seated in the distant carriage, only to find her indifferent to the situation.
Perhaps, in her eyes, such unexpected events were not necessarily a bad thing.
Nfirea had mentioned before that he'd been learning how to make healing potions for years but had never actually tried doing it himself.
This was a rare opportunity for him to practice, given the injuries of the Rock team.
Jogging back to the group, Nfirea set the herbs aside and began selecting a few, carefully pinching them between his fingers.
A faint green energy emanated from his hands, enveloping the herbs.
Under the glow of magic, the herbs began to break down, transforming into granular powder.
Next,
Nfirea repeated the process with several different herbs, grinding them into powder and skillfully mixing them in precise proportions.
The entire process took about ten minutes.
"Nfirea, do you need help?" Lyle asked, stepping forward.
"Yes, please," Nfirea replied, smiling.
Without hesitation, Lyle took out a ceramic pot he'd previously been using as a water container.
"Pour some water in," Nfirea instructed, holding the mixed powders in his hands.
Opening his water pouch, Lyle poured the liquid into the ceramic pot. As he did so, Nfirea carefully added the powdered herbs into the water.
Holding the pot, Nfirea gently shook it, and a faint glow radiated from his hands.
Under the watchful gaze of Lyle and the Rock team, the liquid inside the ceramic pot gradually transformed into a cloudy green solution.
"This… is healing potion!"
Captain Dosari exclaimed, his eyes wide with astonishment.
He couldn't believe it. Few people in the world, apart from trained alchemists, could witness the creation of healing potions firsthand.
"No, this isn't a true healing potion," Nfirea corrected, shaking his head earnestly.
"This can only be called an alchemical solution with healing properties. Making a complete healing potion is far more complex.
"And besides, this solution spoils quickly. If left too long, it won't just lose its effectiveness—it will become toxic. It can only be prepared and used on-site."
"Nfirea," Captain Dosari interrupted cautiously, "Can it still help my injury?"
"Yes, Captain. This solution can alleviate your pain and provide some healing effects. It should help with your injury."
Nfirea handed the ceramic pot to Captain Dosari with a bright, confident smile.
"Drink up!"
The scene shifts to Captain Dosari and the Rand brothers, who had been sitting nearby, closely observing the situation. Their breathing became increasingly ragged, and their faces once again showed signs of intense pain.
If I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have drunk the recovery potion!
Next up.
Nfirea proceeded to craft additional doses, handing them to the injured brothers.
He was doing everything he could.
Nfirea's exhaustion was evident. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, and his movements slowed. Crafting three batches of "Alchemy Solution" in quick succession had taken a visible toll.
"What's wrong, Lyle?" Nfirea rolled up his sleeves and wiped the sweat from his brow. He noticed that Lyle appeared distracted, almost in a daze.
At that moment, Lyle's focus was locked onto his attribute panel.
Nfirea's use of two skills, "Pharmacy" and "Alchemy", had triggered a reaction on his attribute panel.
Curious, Lyle decided to spend two skill points to learn the same skills. As a result, his attribute panel reflected new updates:
