The rhythmic chugging of the train, accompanied by the soft hum of conversation, filled the cabin as I leaned back against the cushioned seat, gazing out at the scenery rushing past the window. Beside me, Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, was bubbling with her usual energy. Her cheerful demeanor and warm presence made the tense mission ahead feel almost like a casual outing.

The mission itself was straightforward: investigate reports of demon activity on this train. Of course, I already knew the culprit behind the chaos—Enmu, The Last of Lower Rank, One of the Kizuki.

Having watched the Demon Slayer anime, I was familiar with how the events should unfold. The only difference was the cast. Instead of Rengoku leading this mission, it was Mitsuri, likely a ripple effect of my presence in this world.

Not that I was complaining. Spending time with Mitsuri was an opportunity I welcomed. Her sincerity and kindness were refreshing, and it didn't hurt that she was adorable when she was flustered.

Mitsuri turned to me, her vibrant green and pink hair bouncing slightly. "Alex-san, isn't this exciting? It's been a while since I've been on a mission with someone else. I usually work alone!"

I smiled, leaning forward slightly. "Exciting isn't the first word I'd use for demon hunting on a moving train, but I'll admit, it's a nice change of pace."

She giggled, her hands clasped together in her lap. "You're so calm about this. I guess it makes sense since you're so strong. I mean, you've defeated Gyokko and even fought the other Hashira to a standstill! I'm still amazed by how skilled you are."

"Well," I said, brushing off her praise with a small shrug, "it's not all about strength. Strategy and experience matter too. But enough about me—what about you? The Love Hashira is quite the title. You must be impressive in your own right."

Mitsuri's cheeks flushed pink, and she waved her hands frantically. "Oh no, I'm nothing special! I just want to protect everyone and make the world a better place. My techniques are unique, but I'm still not as strong as someone like you or the other Hashira."

I chuckled softly, shaking my head. "You're too modest. I've seen how much your comrades respect you. Besides, strength comes in many forms."

Her blush deepened, and she turned her gaze toward the window, trying to hide her flustered expression. It was endearing, to say the least. The awkward silence that followed was broken by the conductor entering our cabin to check tickets. We handed ours over without issue, and the man continued down the aisle.

As he left, Mitsuri leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Alex-san, do you think the demon will show up soon?"

"Possibly," I replied, my tone matching hers. "It's better to stay alert. Demons like this one tend to strike when people are most vulnerable."

I said with some foreshadowing.

She nodded, gripping the hilt of her sword. Despite her cheerful exterior, Mitsuri was a skilled and dedicated warrior. Her muscles were taut, ready to spring into action at the first sign of danger. I found myself admiring her resolve.

"By the way," I added, leaning back casually, "why do you think you were assigned to this mission instead of Rengoku?"

Mitsuri tilted her head, thinking for a moment. "Hmm… I'm not entirely sure. Maybe it's because of the recent increase in demon activity? Or… oh!" She suddenly lit up. "Maybe it's because Oyakata-sama wanted me to work with you. He's been very interested in your strength and how you might help us in our fight against Muzan."

I nodded thoughtfully. It made sense. My presence in this world was a wild card, and Oyakata-sama, being the strategist he was, would likely want to evaluate my compatibility with all the other Hashira.

As the train began to slow for a brief stop, Mitsuri stood and stretched. "I'm going to check on the other passengers, just in case. Do you want to come with me?"

"Go ahead," I said with a wave of my hand. "I'll keep an eye on things here. Let me know if you see anything suspicious."

She nodded and made her way down the aisle, her cheerful voice greeting passengers as she checked on their well-being. I watched her go, a small smile tugging at the corners of my mouth. She had a way of making people feel at ease, even in dangerous situations.

It wasn't long before I felt a faint disturbance in the air—a subtle shift in energy that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. The demon was near. I stood and stretched, my senses on high alert. Mitsuri returned a moment later, her expression serious.

"Alex-san," she whispered, "I think something's wrong. Several passengers have fallen asleep, and no matter how much I tried, I couldn't wake them."

I nodded. "It's starting. Stay close."

As if on cue, a faint mist began to seep into the cabin, and the lights flickered ominously. The demon's presence was palpable now, its aura oppressive and malicious. Mitsuri drew her sword, and I readied myself, though I didn't plan on taking the lead just yet. This was her mission, and I wanted to see how she handled herself.

A haunting laugh echoed through the train as a figure materialized at the far end of the cabin. Enmu, with his unsettlingly delicate features and twisted smile, greeted us with a theatrical bow.

"Welcome, brave Demon Slayers," he said, his voice oozing mockery. "I hope you're ready to enter the realm of eternal dreams."
