Chapter 141: Sharingan Fusion, and Pakura of the Scorch Release
"Thank goodness for the Shadow Clone Technique. Otherwise, this training would be really difficult," Genichi mused to himself at his desk, sorting through the memories fed back from his clones.
The Impure World Reincarnation technique wasn't actually that hard for him. After more than a month, he had already figured out 70-80% of it. However, converting flesh to energy and energy back to flesh using the jutsu formula on a sacrifice wasn't difficult, but applying it to himself raised the difficulty by another level. Most importantly, this training was a bit dangerous.
The Shadow Clone Technique was perfect for circumventing this danger, as it created solid clones. His earlier comment to Orochimaru that it was a great ninjutsu was no exaggeration at all.
"Another month, and I should be able to master it completely."
A smile appeared on Genichi's face, and he stretched. He stood up and paced around his bedroom, organizing his training progress.
Currently, his Kekkei Genkai were the Sharingan (right eye, transplanted), Explosion Release, Heaven's Eye (sensory), and Ice Release. His conventional ninjutsu included genjutsu, Water, Wind, and Earth Release, medical ninjutsu, as well as sealing and sensory arts. He was also currently developing his genjutsu Mirror Flower, Water Moon, his Ice Release, and was also analyzing the Sharingan and conducting physical and spiritual enhancement experiments. As for the Impure World Reincarnation, its purpose was to aid in the development of his Ice Release.
"The key to Ice Release isn't the specific moves, or rather, the shape transformation. Whether it's a dragon, an ice person, or whatever, its power depends on the temperature. But it's really hard to lower the temperature any further right now."
Genichi had a premonition that at his current rate, even if he grinded for another ten years, he would probably only be able to lower the temperature to -100 degrees Celsius at most. The improvement was too slow, and that was still very far from absolute zero.
Perhaps it was time to set his sights on a Kekkei Tōta. In other words, to lower the temperature of his Ice Release more quickly by introducing another nature transformation, such as Yin Release.
Water Release + Wind Release + Yin Release.
He chose Yin Release because it inherently possessed the creative property of making something from nothing. This creative space was infinitely vast and could give his Ice Release great plasticity.
"The difficulty of fusing three nature transformations is certainly higher, but my situation is different. I'm not starting from scratch. I've already mastered Ice Release, so the difficulty should be reduced considerably."
Genichi secretly decided that next year, after raising his Ice Release's temperature by another level, he would begin developing a Kekkei Tōta.
"Never mind absolute zero. If I can reach -200 degrees Celsius, my Ice Release should also be able to greatly increase my lifespan," he thought, feeling invigorated.
Of course, this increase in lifespan wasn't an addition, but a subtraction—slowing the rate of aging with extremely low temperatures, which was equivalent to extending his life. And if he really did achieve absolute zero, would he be nearly immortal? He wasn't sure, but that wouldn't stop him from trying.
"Once I've conquered the technology of converting between energy and flesh, I'll start focusing on developing ways to slow down aging. As for other Ice Release moves, I can just copy things like Wood Release."
With that, he had set the future course for his Ice Release. He then turned his attention to the Sharingan. At his current rate of analysis, he would probably still have to rely on his 'cheat.' But could he get something different from the Impure World Reincarnation technique?
Genichi fell into deep thought.
Nagato's Rinnegan was transplanted from Madara Uchiha, yet when he was reanimated, he still had the Rinnegan.
"It's related to the soul…"
Genichi returned to his desk, sat down, and opened the Impure World Reincarnation scroll again.
In the original timeline, the most special case of Kabuto's Impure World Reincarnation was Nagato, because he did not naturally possess the Rinnegan. And Madara Uchiha did not have his Rinnegan when he died. However, when Madara transplanted his Rinnegan to Nagato, his own soul was not damaged. Just like with Izanagi, the eye went blind, but the soul was unharmed. Therefore, it was completely reasonable for the reanimated Madara to possess the Rinnegan.
The only thing that could damage the soul along with the body was Yin-Yang Release. For example, the reanimated Fourth Hokage had his arms destroyed, and his soul was damaged as a result, not recovering even after the jutsu was released.
So what was the situation with Nagato? Was it a plot hole because the manga artist didn't understand Naruto? But now that Genichi was in this world, there had to be a reasonable explanation.
Was it that long-term fusion and use of the Rinnegan had changed Nagato's own genes, which in turn affected his soul? The soul and body were inextricably linked and influenced each other; of this, Genichi was certain. Or was it simply due to his chakra?
"The chakra color of the meridian system where the Sharingan is located, as seen by my Primordial Spirit, is crimson. That is Namiichi's chakra color. My own chakra color, without nature transformation, is blue, which is the original color of chakra. After I mastered Ice Release, my chakra's color changed to ice-blue."
"Also, I previously used the Art of Zen and Art of Zai to freely control the Sharingan, to turn it on and off at will."
"And my shadow clones can also use the Sharingan. If this is due to chakra… chakra carries consciousness and the body's genetic information. My previous idea of using the Sharingan's dōjutsu power to influence the soul in reverse, and having my Primordial Spirit analyze the Sharingan's nature transformation, was based on this."
"My soul body doesn't seem to have ever opened the Sharingan."
A large amount of information was processed by Genichi, his mind highly active.
Suddenly, he formed hand seals. First, the Art of Zai, to freely use all supernatural powers. Then, the Art of Zen, to transcend all boundaries and achieve a dark fusion with all of creation. The so-called dark fusion was the meaning of merging with the changes of all things in the world. Of course, even though Genichi was constantly delving deeper, he had not yet reached such a state. But the fact that his Water Release was so masterful had a lot to do with this seal, for example, hiding in water, or his unique Water Formation Wall.
As he formed the seals, within his Yin Seal, the Primordial Spirit Secret Technique was canceled. The chakra cloak was shed, turning into chakra and falling into the pool. Then, a stream of crimson chakra entered the Yin Seal and was swallowed by the soul body.
This was the dōjutsu power of the Sharingan.
The soul body lowered its eyes. A moment later, when it opened them again, its right eye had impressively become a three-tomoe Sharingan.
At this moment, Genichi had achieved synchronization between his body and soul. At the same time, all the secrets of the Sharingan were laid bare in his consciousness. Analysis? It was no longer necessary. A textbook had been placed before him. He only needed to understand and master it.
"Details, details… I could have achieved this step long ago, but I overlooked so many things," Genichi lamented to himself. In the Yin Seal, the soul body once again put on its chakra cloak. His use of the Sharingan had been elevated to a new level. And he now had more confidence in upgrading it.
Suddenly, Genichi turned his head. A figure had appeared outside his window.
"Senpai, is there a mission?" Genichi stood up and walked over. The person who had arrived was the masked Sarutobi Shinnosuke.
"Yes," Shinnosuke nodded. "An urgent mission. Sunagakure and Kirigakure are on the verge of peace talks. We must find out the contents of their talks and assess the impact on the village. If it is unfavorable, we must sabotage them."
"Understood," Genichi nodded. "I'll set out shortly."
"Then I'll leave you to it," Shinnosuke said and left in a hurry.
Genichi closed the window, tidied his desk, said goodbye to his parents, and then went to the Anbu base to get his gear. He didn't take Ina this time. She was currently training with Tsunade to hone her medical skills in preparation for learning the Yin Seal. And a mission like this was better suited for one person anyway.
After leaving Konoha, Genichi used the Flying Thunder God to quickly cross the vast distance, appearing silently in Sunagakure.
"Hmm? There are quite a few people. Over there…"
After using a transformation jutsu, Genichi slipped out of an alley. He crossed a street and saw a huge crowd under the Kazekage's tower. He could also hear their cheers more clearly.
He looked up and saw Pakura of the Scorch Release standing on a balcony, enjoying the cheers of the villagers. She was a hero—the hero who had killed numerous Mist-nin and halted their advance.
Will it be the same as the original timeline? Genichi narrowed his eyes.
At that moment, in the Kazekage's tower, in the conference room, the high-ranking officials of Sunagakure were gathered, but the atmosphere was somewhat heavy.
Kirigakure had agreed to peace talks, and even to form an alliance with them. But there were two conditions.
First, hand over Pakura of the Scorch Release. Because too many Mist-nin had died at her hands, the Kiri leadership needed to give an explanation to their people.
Second, ally with them to attack Konoha.
The Suna leadership had already unanimously agreed to the second condition. After making peace and allying with Kiri, they were confident they could also drive Iwagakure out of the Land of Wind. Right now, Konoha was at war with Kiri, Iwa, and Kumo simultaneously. If they joined the war, they could take the opportunity to gain benefits. On the other hand, there was not much point in continuing to fight Kiri. After all, their foundation was in the Land of Water. They could repel them, but it was difficult to chase them across the sea. The Land of Fire, where Konoha was, was a different story. And there was also the Land of Rivers.
Currently, the Wind Daimyō was very displeased with Iwagakure. They had to obtain enough benefits to regain his full support. But Pakura…
She was powerful in her own right and had made great contributions in the war against Kiri. She had played a crucial role in stopping their invasion. To sacrifice her now would be a huge scandal. The benefits represented by her own combat power were not as important as the benefits brought by peace with Kirigakure. This was the bigger picture.
"Let Pakura go to the peace talks with Kirigakure," the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, said, listening to the cheers outside.
Chiyo sighed to herself and silently nodded. The other Suna elders also nodded in agreement one by one.
Pakura, no matter how great, was not greater than the bigger picture. Losing an elite jonin like her was painful, but if the current situation continued, Sunagakure's losses would be even greater.
Three days later, Pakura left Sunagakure and secretly headed for the Land of Water. Sunagakure's official mission record, however, stated that she was heading to the Iwa front on a secret mission.
After Pakura left, Genichi also left, but he left a shadow clone behind in the village. He still needed to obtain the secrets of the peace talks, something Pakura might not know. Unless she was really going to negotiate, and not being sent as a sacrificial pawn. So Genichi needed to prepare for both possibilities.
