Chapter 13: Overdrafting the Future Again!

"I'm definitely building a library in the future!" Walking out of the bookstore, Kinoshita Genichi couldn't help but grit his teeth.

He had been wracking his brain trying to learn about medical ninjutsu, human anatomy, and other related fields. Although he had gotten a lot of materials from Shizune, he couldn't just rely on copying books. But Konoha had no library, which meant he had to buy them. And some of the books weren't easy to find.

The specialized books were also incredibly expensive. His allowance wasn't nearly enough, and he even had to borrow some money from Shizune.

"My future self had better not waste all the effort I'm putting in now!"

Returning home, Genichi buried his face in a book while continuing his grand project of taking notes. He couldn't let all that money go to waste.

It was now spring break, so there was no school. The new academic year would begin in April.

There were still five days until he could overdraft the future again.

In a flash, it was noon.

Hearing his mother's call, Genichi looked up and rubbed his somewhat dry eyes.

"I never studied this hard in my previous life. But still, they say people who advise others to study medicine deserve to be struck by lightning."

He stood up and stretched his stiff body, then went downstairs for lunch.

After eating, Genichi returned to his room to continue his studies. Only this time, he wasn't absorbing medical knowledge, but the even more abstruse art of fūinjutsu.

During his last visit to Minato's house, although Jiraiya hadn't accepted him as a disciple, he had agreed to teach Genichi fūinjutsu. Not only that, but Uzumaki Kushina had also generously offered to help him anytime.

As a result, Genichi had successfully obtained a great deal of information on sealing techniques. Of course, the only actual sealing jutsu he had received from Jiraiya so far was one: the Evil Sealing Method.

He could consider all of these gains as royalties from the "copyright" of the Rasengan.

Of course, to return the favor, Genichi planned to present the concept of the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken after a while. Although he couldn't practice it himself, there was nothing stopping him from proposing the idea. Jiraiya was a perfect fit for it; because he had mastered Sage Mode, he could throw the Rasenshuriken even if it was imperfect.

For Genichi, trading a ninjutsu he couldn't currently use for other resources was a completely worthwhile endeavor. Besides, putting it out there didn't mean he couldn't use it himself later when he had the ability.

After lunch, Genichi went for a stroll. After aiding his digestion, he went to his usual spot to train.

Before long, a familiar voice rang out. It was Might Guy.

Genichi smiled slightly and continued his own training, repeatedly drawing his blade.

The closer he got to the time he could overdraft the future, the harder Genichi trained. He was like a failing student cramming at the last minute before an exam.

Time flew by, and soon it was March 18, Konoha Year 42.

In Genichi's mind, the previously grayed-out "[Overdraft: Ten Years into the Future]" option on his panel was now lit up.

Lying on his bed, Genichi took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "Future me, I hope you don't disappoint the efforts of this past year!"

Overdraft ten years into the future!

As the panel exploded into an orb of purple light, Genichi's mind instantly went blank, while every cell in his body trembled as if electrocuted.

A moment later, Genichi's eyelids fluttered, and he opened his eyes. "It's not ten years again..."

The last time he overdrafted ten years, he didn't actually get ten years, only six.

This time, it was eight years.

By his calculation, that future extended to Konoha Year 50.

Genichi couldn't determine whether his future self had died in the Third Great Ninja War or during the Nine-Tails' attack. Of course, it was also possible that he died during a collaboration with Orochimaru.

Because this time, a portion of the gains from the overdraft had clearly come from Orochimaru.

"I worked so hard, and I even have a cheat, yet I died again. I didn't even live for another ten years."

Genichi's expression was grim. But it also showed him just how dangerous the profession of a ninja truly was.
