Chapter 109: Jiraiya's Test, Danzō's Ambition

At Minato Namikaze's House.

Kinoshita Genichi and the others were gathered here. As for Hiruzen Sarutobi, he was, of course, off cleaning up Danzō's mess.

Now that they were all seated, everyone's eyes were fixed on Genichi.

Suddenly, Uzumaki Kushina laughed and pumped her fist. "Genichi, you were amazing! I've wanted to beat that guy Danzō up for a long time!"

Genichi smiled. "Sister Kushina, if you ever feel like it, you can beat him up too. But be careful with that old guy. He has an Uchiha's Sharingan transplanted, and by sacrificing an eye, he can cast an ultimate genjutsu that turns any unfavorable outcome, including death, into an illusion."

Everyone was shocked to hear this.

Jiraiya couldn't help but say, "I've never heard of the Uchiha having a secret technique like that."

"Even among the Uchiha, a technique like that is a top-level secret," Genichi explained. "Although Danzō's eye is blind now, we can't be sure if he has others."

Kushina said, "If the Uchiha clan finds out about this, I doubt they'll let it go, right?"

"Lord Hokage will not make this public," Genichi said flatly.

Tsunade and Jiraiya fell silent. They knew Genichi was right. Although it was incredibly unfair to the Uchiha, they couldn't just go and tell them. Doing so would only widen the rift between the Uchiha and the village. And it was clear that Hiruzen had no intention of dealing with Danzō permanently.

Tsunade looked at Genichi and asked, "Why didn't you just kill Danzō?"

Genichi looked perfectly innocent. "Lady Tsunade, you've misunderstood me. Am I that kind of cruel person?"

Tsunade immediately let out two cold laughs. Uzumaki Ina couldn't help but cover her mouth to stifle a giggle.

Kushina smiled. "That Danzō guy is really hateful, but… wouldn't killing him be going a little too far?"

Jiraiya nodded. "The guy's crimes don't warrant death."

Tsunade pursed her lips but didn't mention the part about Danzō and Orochimaru experimenting on children for the Wood Style. Genichi just smiled, not bothering to argue with Jiraiya and Kushina. He knew that this would be the viewpoint of the vast majority of Konoha.

Of course, that wasn't why he didn't kill Danzō.

"Lady Tsunade, the reason I didn't kill Danzō is because that would be letting him off too easily," Genichi explained slowly. "Danzō claims everything he does is for the good of Konoha. Since that's the case, I should naturally help him fulfill his Will of Fire, letting him burn himself to illuminate Konoha and nurture the next generation. After all, Danzō has fought for Konoha and shed his blood and sweat. Of course, I have to give him a chance to burn brightly."

Tsunade listened, looking at Genichi with suspicion. There's something... not right about how he's saying this. Are you really that benevolent? Tsunade didn't believe it for a second. She huffed twice. "You might be able to fool idiots like Kushina and Jiraiya with that talk."

"Hey, Tsunade, I'm not an idiot!" Jiraiya immediately protested. Kushina chimed in with her own objections.

Tsunade glanced at Jiraiya. "Believing in some 'Child of Prophecy,' isn't that what an idiot does?"

"Someone has to change this world!" Jiraiya said with a solemn expression. "That is my ninja way!"

His ninja way wasn't the Child of Prophecy itself, but peace—a peace born from mutual understanding. But since he couldn't achieve such an ideal himself, he could only follow the Great Toad Sage's guidance to find the fated child who could fulfill his wish. Was it Nagato? Or Minato? Or someone else entirely?

But Jiraiya felt that it couldn't possibly be Kinoshita Genichi.

Tsunade merely pursed her lips at Jiraiya's words and said no more. She turned back to Genichi. "You humiliated Danzō today. You need to be more careful in the future. Even with Orochimaru in charge of Root, he won't be able to control those people."

Genichi smiled and nodded. "I know."

A man like Danzō would risk his life for grand ambitions but forget his principles for petty gains. After this incident, Danzō definitely wouldn't dare to cause trouble within the village again, not even through threats. As for outside the village, Danzō was an unscrupulous man and would certainly seek revenge, but Genichi was now fearless.

His real reason for not killing Danzō was this: letting him off too easily was the least important factor. The key was that Danzō still had value. Both internally and externally.

This time, Hiruzen had no choice but to let Orochimaru take over Root. Although Orochimaru couldn't truly control Root right now—Danzō still held influence—Genichi's objective had been achieved. As the leader of Root, and with his previous "misdeeds," Orochimaru's chances of becoming the Fourth Hokage were now incredibly slim. Unless he chose the path of a coup d'état.

And as for Danzō, having suffered such a great humiliation, Genichi knew, just as Tsunade said, that the old fox must hate him intensely, wishing he could kill him on the spot. But Genichi knew Danzō all too well. Hatred wouldn't make Danzō lose his mind, or at least not outwardly. It would only make him more obsessed with power, his craving for the Hokage's seat more desperate, his methods more unscrupulous.

And that was exactly what Genichi wanted.

Killing Danzō now would only kill the man. What Genichi wanted was to not only kill the man, but also his spirit, his ideals, and his reputation. And at the same time, he would squeeze every last drop of value out of him.

"Genichi, when did you get so strong? Even Orochimaru admitted he was no match for you," Jiraiya changed the subject. This was a point he was particularly curious about. It was one thing for ordinary Root ninja to be taken down by genjutsu, but for people like Danzō and Orochimaru, ordinary genjutsu was largely ineffective. Jiraiya didn't believe that genjutsu alone could have subdued that arrogant, prideful fool Orochimaru.

And besides, how old was this kid again? Jiraiya had to think for a moment to be sure. Ten. Not even eleven. It was just too absurd.

Tsunade and Kushina were also very curious about Jiraiya's question. They knew Genichi better than Jiraiya did, but their understanding of his strength was still vague. As for Ina, she had no such thoughts; her eyes were filled with nothing but pure adoration. In her mind, it was simple: My Lord Genichi is the strongest!

"Orochimaru-senpai is too kind," Genichi said modestly. "The only things I'm decent at are genjutsu, Water Release, and Wind Release."

Jiraiya's face twitched. "You really know how to be humble." That was just blatant showing off.

But then, Jiraiya's eyes lit up with eagerness. "That guy Orochimaru was taken out by your genjutsu. Let me give it a try!" If I can break Genichi's genjutsu, it means I'm better than that fool Orochimaru!

Genichi turned to look at Jiraiya. The moment their eyes met, the three tomoe in his right eye appeared.

Genjutsu: Binding God Technique!

Jiraiya's body instantly froze. He looked down to find himself bound to a cross, his body no longer under his control. He tried to lift his right hand, but it only trembled slightly.

"Such powerful binding!" Jiraiya was shocked. He also knew the Temporary Paralysis Technique, but it wasn't nearly this strong. And…

Jiraiya focused, and then he realized this was no ordinary paralysis jutsu.

"It's my mind, my consciousness that's bound…" he realized.

Just then, Genichi released the Binding God Technique, but immediately followed up by casting three more illusions on Jiraiya: the Bringer-of-Darkness, Silent World, and Flawless Fallen Body techniques. Since they were targeted at a single person, the precision of the genjutsu was greatly increased.

"Sight, hearing, and touch too?" Jiraiya was shocked again and quickly raised his hands to form a seal. However, he only managed to restore his hearing.

"I can't break the other two?" Jiraiya was inwardly alarmed. His mind raced, and he immediately clasped his hands together, trying to absorb natural energy to break the illusions.

However, he quickly failed. Having lost his sense of touch, he found that he was temporarily unable to sense natural energy at all.

His only option was to use the Summoning Jutsu. He summoned a messenger toad, using the external force to finally break the Bringer-of-Darkness and Flawless Fallen Body techniques.

But by then, almost two minutes had passed. On a real battlefield, he would have been dead eight hundred times over.

Jiraiya dismissed the summon and sighed with emotion. "Your genjutsu is truly astounding. Even when it's not cast with the Sharingan, it's incredibly difficult to break. The jutsu that steal hearing and touch, and that paralysis technique, did you develop them yourself?"

Genichi smiled. "I did develop them myself. That paralysis technique, I prefer to call it the 'Spirit-Fixing Technique.' Of course, the genjutsu's name is the Binding God Technique."

Jiraiya nodded. "Very fitting. The only ones who could probably contend with you in genjutsu are the Uchiha clan."

As he said this, he was secretly thinking about how to counter Genichi's genjutsu. In a one-on-one fight, the first rule would be to not look at his Sharingan, or he'd end up like that fool Orochimaru, taken out in a single move. Then there were the conventional genjutsu. If sight, hearing, and touch were all stolen at once, the only counter was to immediately summon a toad. The best strategy would be to not even give him a chance to use genjutsu.

But… Jiraiya recalled that he hadn't seen Genichi form any hand seals just now.

"Does he not need eye contact to cast those genjutsu with his Sharingan?" Jiraiya wondered, and couldn't help but sigh. "What a monstrous little freak. Even more outstanding than Minato."

Just then, Kushina smiled. "The Uchiha can't contend with Genichi in genjutsu either, you know. He already beat their prodigy, Uchiha Tekka, and he didn't even use his Sharingan!"

Genichi shook his head. "Uchiha Tekka doesn't count as an Uchiha prodigy." In his eyes, only Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Shisui counted. Even without the Mangekyō, those two were formidable. Uchiha Itachi had already been born and should be about a year old now, and Shisui was about five years older than him. Genichi hadn't checked, so he didn't know if Shisui had entered the Ninja Academy yet. Large clans like the Uchiha didn't always send their children to the academy; they also had their own internal training.

After chatting for a while longer, the group finally dispersed. Tsunade took Ina to the Konoha Hospital, and Genichi went home to wash up and rest.

Elsewhere.

Danzō's injuries had already healed, and he had calmed down. At least, he was calm on the surface, with no rage or hysterics.

Hiruzen Sarutobi stood with his back to Danzō. "Go to the Land of Rain," he said.

"I know," Danzō nodded. He then turned and left the Anbu base.

I will become Hokage!

The moment he stepped out of the base, the ambition in Danzō's heart burned wildly, his desire for the position reaching its absolute peak. Only by becoming Hokage could he wash away his shame and take back everything that belonged to him. Only by becoming Hokage could Konoha be remade into the village he envisioned. Only by becoming Hokage could Konoha be great again!

Hiruzen, you are too soft, to be so lenient with that Kinoshita Genichi…

All of Danzō's disappointment and anger became fuel, igniting his ambition.

Returning to the Root base, Danzō first transplanted a new three-tomoe Sharingan into his right eye socket, then left Konoha with a small squad of Root ninja.

Orochimaru watched him leave, smiled, then turned and began to browse through Root's collection of top-secret files and jutsu, especially the secret techniques related to the Sharingan.
