Chapter 61: Chapter 61: So It Was You, Vincent!
Originally
Vincent Fox had been worried. Once they boarded the ship, what if one of the officers decided to go out in a blaze of glory? If they waited until the ship was far out at sea and then sabotaged the hull, the consequences could be disastrous.
It was a small possibility but one he couldn't ignore.
Vincent had initially planned to take turns with Autumn Summer to keep watch over them day and night.
But with the sudden arrival of these foreign merchants
The problem was instantly solved.
Letting the foreigners handle the steering and even keep an eye on the officers would avoid any potential sabotage.
After all, Vincent wasn't going to attack their homeland.
They had no reason to risk their lives. As long as there was a sliver of hope for survival, they'd obediently cooperate.
…
The moment Vincent declared them prisoners
The foreigners were stunned for a second, then burst out laughing.
The burly white man leading the group stepped forward with a sneer and snapped, "Hey! You yellow-skinned brat! Do you have any idea what you just said? You're provoking my country the Great Eagle Nation. You want to start a war between our two nations?!"
He fully expected Vincent to panic, try to smooth things over, maybe even apologize. Then he could use that fear to his advantage slashing prices on the antiques he'd come to buy.
But to his surprise
Vincent showed no reaction at all.
His expression remained calm. Cold, even. As if the man's threats had been spoken to thin air.
Then, without warning
Vincent's hand snapped out like lightning.
Before the man even realized what was happening, there was a sickening crack his neck had been snapped clean. He dropped like a ragdoll, dead on the spot.
Vincent hadn't meant to kill him.
But the guy's mouth was too foul. He'd asked for it.
Oddly enough
Vincent realized something in that moment: killing didn't bother him at all.
Why?
Was he… born a killer?
He turned to the remaining foreigners, his voice emotionless.
"As my prisoners any objections?"
…
In the provincial capital.
Damon lawson, Miles Song, and the others stormed into the inn where Uncle Nate was resting, their eyes bloodshot with rage.
They hadn't slept all night.
"Uncle Nate! We were lied to! That damn village chief totally tricked us. Everything in the city is fine they were never here!" Miles cursed furiously.
Uncle Nate frowned. He was already irritated by Miles's lack of manners.
Damon quickly noticed and gave Miles a sharp glare before turning to Uncle Nate with a respectful tone.
"Please, Uncle Nate. Use the Divination Ritual."
Divine Guidance.
One of the Spirit-Summoning Techniques.
"Please do it, Uncle Nate!" Serena Wren chimed in earnestly. "If we miss the chance to strike now, and that zombie grows any stronger, it could become a disaster."
All the noise gave Uncle Nate a headache. With a long sigh, he reluctantly nodded.
"Alright."
He really didn't want to keep using Divine Guidance.
It was a taxing ritual. Every use drained his life force. As a Taoist art, it was forbidden for casual use.
His disciples hadn't even grown up yet. Uncle Nate wasn't ready to kick the bucket so soon.
Still, he had no choice.
Even Uncle Nate feared what would happen if Grandpa Ren evolved too far. The creature could plunge the land into chaos.
He set up the altar and began the ritual.
"Pfft!"
The moment it succeeded, Uncle Nate coughed up a large mouthful of blood. His face turned pale.
"Uncle Nate, are you okay?!" Serena rushed to his side.
"I'll be fine. The zombie's location is fixed. It's not far. We move now!" he said weakly.
Everyone quickly supported him as they followed the paper figure pointing the way.
…
Back on the other side.
Vincent's "prisoner convoy" now included several foreigners.
They set off for the dock.
Since the military base had been operating a smuggling ring, its harbor was also discreetly hidden tucked away beneath a seaside cliff.
When they arrived, a cargo ship was already anchored at the dock.
Several crewmen stood on deck with binoculars, scanning the shore.
Vincent spotted them and they spotted his group in return.
But the moment the sailors noticed that all the officers and foreigners had their hands tied behind their backs, they realized something was wrong and triggered the ship's alarm.
Vincent didn't hesitate.
"Let loose the monster "
Grandpa Ren was released.
With Vincent's silent nod, the zombie let out a roar and launched into the air, soaring directly onto the cargo ship and beginning his rampage.
Gunshots and screams echoed across the water.
Vincent narrowed his eyes as he watched Grandpa Ren tear through the deck like a god of death, his expression turning colder by the second.
The now fully-evolved flying zombie was terrifyingly powerful.
If he grew any further, even Vincent might not be able to handle him.
Which meant
Once they reached the island nation, he had to kill Grandpa Ren.
End the threat before it got out of hand.
"Vincent! Autumn!!"
Just then
An angry shout rang out behind them.
Vincent and Autumn turned
And saw Uncle Nate and several elite disciples from Godslayer Academy, all rushing up the cliffside.
"I knew it was you!" Miles Song laughed coldly, his face twisted with hostility. "You two bastards sure made us work to find you!"
The others stood beside him, eyes full of Lawson, with killing intent leaking from every pore.
