Chapter 25: Astonishment
From that point on, one week passed. Every day, Terry and Rebecca would help twenty recruits in the morning to make them get some battle experience and confidence. In the afternoon, he would hunt by himself.
Although he had planned to destroy more camps once the bow reached level ten, he had a lot of things to take care of, so he delayed that. Still, in those seven days, the money that he got every day practically doubled, so he eventually bought a nearby building to work as the headquarters of the and he also gave the new members the task of managing things inside now and then. That was easy to do since he had 150 of them now, and everyone wanted to be on his good side. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Nothing major to report today?" Terry asked.
"No, more members from the other guilds are checking the dungeon, though," Rebecca explained. "They believe that you got a magic item that enhances other weapons, and that is why everyone can fight here. They don't think there is a trait like that, so they are in search of the enemy's camps more than ever in search of the magic items."
"I see... by the way, have you guys moved already?" Terry asked.
"Yes... those two feel a bit restless living in such a large though," Rebecca replied.
Their headquarters was a building that had been finished recently to be the headquarters of the guild that was going to take the dungeon. Since it had been a cooperative task between the Void Guild and the Fire Troupe, no one expected that a third party would get that.
In any case, the building had everything. Bedrooms, showers, a large refectory, warehouse. Everything for a guild of five hundred or so people. Chris and Ruth and living in such a place for security reasons, so it was hard to call it home.
"Choose some people from the recruits to become guards, only those who have no history with other guilds, and we can trust as usual," Terry said. fr𝒐m freewebnσvel.cøm.
"Roger that," Rebecca said. "Anyway, it is weird, isn't it? A few weeks ago, we were completely broke, and now..."
"That's the disparity of those who live in the dungeon society and those who don't," Terry said. "The government was quick to make its basic functions keep going to keep people under their watch. Thanks to that, money didn't lose its value, and we can do a lot and obtain with it."
"That makes sense..." Rebecca said and then sighed.
"Anyway, I will leave the recruits in your hands from now on," Terry said. "I am going to look for the camps until the next step."
"And that would be..." Rebecca asked.
"That needs to be a surprise," Terry smirked.
"That only makes me worry..." Rebecca said.
Icicle Longbow - Lv 11 (0/120) (Uncommon)
Attack Power: 70
Movement Speed Debuff: 12%
Charges: 40/40
Durability: 17/17
(Critical Charge: when dealing critical damage on the target, you recover one charge automatically.)
(Cold of War: When hitting the same opponent three times with the arrows of this bow, you put them under the 'frostbite' status effect and make them lose five points of health per second for five seconds.)
While Terry was heading to the dungeon, he checked his longbow. The weapon improved quite a lot, and its attack power made it the most powerful weapon that he had. However, even with that, Terry still had the endurance of a normal human being. It was really surprising how strong and weak he could be at the same time.
"Anyway, it is time to see this bad boy in real action," Terry thought.
Once Terry crossed the portal, he walked around in circles while marking the trees in order not to get lost. He marked them with arrow marks pointing to the directions he went, and since the circle increased, he eventually found the portal to leave. Still, he just moved in the direction the enemies came from after that.
Although Terry could easily snipe them now when they were thirty meters away, he decided to fight them with his gloves. Only when he found their nearest hideout, he equipped the longbow.
"I wonder when I will find any clues about why they live underground..." Terry thought while he was looking at the entrance. "My current guess is that they are running away by living underground, and they only come out when there is food... still, that would mean that they didn't build these shelters..."
Those thoughts left Terry's mind after he entered the tunnel with a torch in hand... he didn't have the leisure to lose his focus in enemy territory.
In the end, Terry felt that the tunnel was as long as the other one, and he also found a similar camp at the end of it. All that repetition was also starting to bother him... it felt unnatural.
Regardless, what Terry had to do didn't change a thing. Kill the fuckers before they come to Earth... the number of the giants was a bit higher than before; they had around 130 on their side. It didn't look like Terry could keep hitting them with critical hits, but he certainly wanted to try.
Terry approached the enemy's camp until they finally began to get up upon noticing him... then he began to fire his arrows. The first target didn't move, so Terry had an easy time pulling an arrow on the back of its head.
The next two got close to him, but Terry let them do that to put arrows in their eye sockets. That was dangerous, but at least they didn't have time to dodge them, and Terry recovered the charges. Several others approached him, but Terry killed twenty of them one after the other without moving from his spot.
At that point in time, the enemies couldn't help but be astonished...
