Chapter 14: Confidence
Terry was very satisfied with the effect that the weapon got. Instead of skills, long-ranged weapons would benefit a lot more with effects like that. Regardless, he still will have a hard time measuring the right time to use it. Unless he finds some small fries.
"It is a bit early, but we should return. We moved quite a bit from the portal in order to surprise the enemies..." Terry said after several hours had passed.
"Yes... we walked so much, and in the direction, the monsters came from, but we didn't find any of their bases," Rebecca said after she nodded. "I can understand how the other guilds didn't clear a single camp yet."
The problem with those portals was that the requirements to use them were a bit loose. Thirty years ago, they appeared out of nowhere, and people began to investigate them, but since humans didn't head to the other side to hunt the monsters, they had the chance to use the door as well.
No one knew why things worked that way, and that was the only thing that most people knew. Still, things would be fine as long as people kept hunting the giants. Speaking of hunting, the crossbow wasn't the only weapon that improved quite a bit.
Long Spear - Lv 18 (100/190 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 38
Defense: 19
Durability: 32/38
(Critical: increases the chances of causing critical damage when hitting the enemy.)
(Spear Mastery: increases your attack power by ten percent.)
(Throw: it grants you the ability to throw the spear with great precision and power. Hitting any target within twenty meters and causing damage equal to the usual physical damage plus fifty percent.)
"I already can throw the spear, but I guess I won't have to aim for long," Terry nodded to himself.
Once they left the portal, they got some more attention than before. First of all, they stayed there for a while, but they were unscathed. Aside from that, their backpacks filled with magic stones were pretty large.
"We can offer 28.750 dollars for the magic stones. If you are interested, you can also join our guild," The merchant who bought the magic stones said.
"... No, we are already part of the... of the..." Terry said and then looked at Rebecca. "What is a good name for a guild?"
"Why are you asking me?" Rebecca frowned.
"... Our guild name is Stormscallers," Terry said. "That is a good name, I guess."
"Sure, if you are thirteen," Rebecca smirked.
"How about I love my older sister, or will I marry my older sister?" Terry asked.
"I see that you are taking this personally..." Rebecca said and then sighed.
The merchant didn't know how to react to the jokes. First of all, he thought that they were siblings. Thanks to that, a strange rumor began to cross the city that night.
"Anyway, it seems that you did at least one-third of the work, so you will get one-third of the money. Are you fine with that?" Terry asked.
"One... one... one third of...28k!" Rebecca almost lost control of the truck due to the surprise... It was tough to be raised in poverty.
Terry thought that he could Rebecca buy some skill books for her, but it didn't seem like that would be necessary. While she was able to fight that well because of the wind Wand and some of the magic stones, Terry was fine with it. Rebecca was reliable and had good magic senses, so she could be trusted.
The next day, Terry and Rebecca went to check the territory of the other guilds for skill books and magic items. Even the low-level ones could be useful once Terry makes them reach level five. Not to mention, Terry will be able to save future magic stones. "Hey, did you know that those are siblings and..."
"For real... how shameless..."
"They must have watched too much anime and Game of Thrones...."
"... I feel like people are whispering about us in a weird way," Rebecca said while frowning.
"Just use that as an advertisement for the guild," Terry said while he was checking a fire wand.

"Are you fine with letting someone as weak as me to be the second member of the guild?" Rebecca asked.
"I don't need strong people, only people that can be trusted," Terry replied.
"If you say so..." Rebecca said.
Terry could make people stronger or at least able to fight with his weapons, so that wasn't a necessary requirement. The real problem would be to find the people that truly would never betray the guild.
In any case, Terry bought an ice and fire wand. Both of them were similar to the Wind Wand when they were at level zero, so he was confident that they would improve in the same way.
Those two cost 5k, and aside from that, Terry also bought some gloves. They had the earth attribute, so they were pretty hard.
Hard Gloves - Lv 0 (0/10 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 03
Defense: 04
Durability: 10/10
They also had better potential than the spear, and considering that the giants could be troublesome at close range, Terry thought that it would be fun to give them a taste of their own medicine.
"I can't find anything that has other parameters... as expected, the guilds only sell trash," Terry thought.
"I couldn't imagine anyone using that kind of weapon against giants..." Rebecca said.
"Imagination you lack, fix that should you," Terry said.
