Only I Walk Alone

The dinosaur person’s arrival on Earth evoked a profound sense of nostalgia, which Wu Ge could clearly sense. However, Wu Ge had instructed Xiao Chao to ensure the dinosaur would not see the dinosaur museums, as no one appreciates their kindred’s fossils displayed for public amusement.

Wu Ge inquired, “Elder, do you know what calamity befell the dinosaurs on Earth?”

The dinosaur person shook its head, indicating “no” in a manner similar to humans, and replied, “I’m not sure. When I was taken, dinosaurs had not yet gone extinct. By the time I managed to return to Earth with a stolen spaceship, the dinosaurs had perished, and I encountered an intelligent species—humans.”

Wu Ge tentatively asked, “Are you referring to the Homo sapiens from 300,000 years ago?”

The dinosaur person couldn’t distinguish this detail, just as most people cannot differentiate between various dinosaur species from different periods. It said, “About 160,000 years ago, I encountered a group of intelligent beings and imparted some easily memorizable knowledge to them. However, due to being pursued by another civilization, my stay was brief before I departed Earth again.”

Wu Ge was stunned; this revelation seemed to solve a historical mystery. Dinosaurs ruled Earth for hundreds of millions of years without giving rise to an intelligent species, yet humans became the dominant species in a relatively short time. This was not by chance but a consequence of external influences, including help from various civilizations like vampires, demons, and the Underworld. Humanity’s progress was not accidental but influenced by many external factors.

Wu Ge had pondered why deities existed, theorizing that divine beings in the universe possessed powerful artifacts and spread divine messages to Earth, leading to the worship of these deities.

After exploring the concepts of deities and the power of faith, Wu Ge understood that while such methods were feasible, constructing a divine altar in the universe to spread subliminal messages could capture the faith of intelligent species in unknown regions, thus gathering more power of faith.

However, the cultures of deities and cultivation were fundamentally different; deities were man-made, whereas cultivation was achieved through self-effort. Without believers, the realms of deities would empty, and heavens would vanish, disappearing as faith waned.

Upon reaching Earth’s surface, the dinosaur person admired the landscape but chose not to wander. It remarked, “The changes in my homeland are always significant. Who knows when I will return next?”

Wu Ge, picking up on a hint, asked, “Do you plan to continue wandering?”

The dinosaur person explained, “As a dinosaur like myself, survival depends on stealth and theft, drawing the ire of many civilizations. Bounty hunters are pursuing me due to the rewards placed on my head.”

Imagining the dinosaur person’s plight, Wu Ge could understand the challenges faced by an intelligence-awakened dinosaur surviving in the harsh cosmos, especially without any kin.

As Wu Ge and the dinosaur person conversed, Xiao Chao issued an urgent alert: “Level one alert! Level one alert! An unknown fleet has been detected on the stellar path!”

The dinosaur person, realizing its pursuers had arrived, stated, “It seems the fleet hunting me has come. I must leave to avoid involving you.”

Wu Ge asked, “Since they’re using the star path to reach our system, they haven’t mastered the Unified Field Theory, have they?”

The dinosaur person said, “The bounty hunters from the Sushui civilization pursuing me are aquatic intelligent beings who utilize basic curvature navigation technology. They haven’t reached faster-than-light travel levels yet, so they must use star paths for travel. However, when using curvature navigation, their speed can reach up to one-third the speed of light.”

Curvature navigation is a method of approaching the speed of light without needing to master the Unified Field Theory. Earth’s scientists are currently researching this method but have yet to produce results.

Wu Ge stated, “Since they haven’t mastered the Unified Field Theory, there’s no problem. If they dare to approach, we’ll annihilate them.”

The current universe lacks any form of cosmic law or Milky Way regulations. The universe’s environment is extremely harsh, where other civilizations may choose to attack or negotiate with you on a whim.

Wu Ge instructed Xiao Chao to prepare for a counterattack and commanded the mechanical insect race to ready for retaliation. A large number of fleets began to turn around, all equipped with jump engines, allowing them to reach the battlefield in seconds upon Wu Ge’s command.

At that moment, the Sushui civilization’s fleet sent a message to Earth’s civilization in a rather arrogant tone, “Unknown low-level civilization, hand over the dinosaur, and present 300 million tons of nuclear fuel and three million people, and we will spare you.”

Wu Ge was puzzled, wondering why this civilization was so bold. Didn’t they understand the importance of first assessing their opponent’s strength?

The dinosaur person explained from the side, “They are a predatory civilization, living off plundering resources and populations. However, since the population of lower civilizations is not valued highly, their demands are quite low.”

Yet, the reality was undeniable. Numerous warships stationed near Earth vanished instantly due to space folding, causing ripples around Earth’s vicinity.

Since there’s some distance between the outer Solar System and Earth, it takes some time for light to travel here. However, through superluminal communication, the dinosaur person knew the battle had already begun.

Wu Ge said, “Deploy the four-dimensional warships, destroy the enemy flagship’s engines, capture their commanders and warships, and then obtain information and technology from the enemy.”

Chong Feng replied, “Yes, Supreme Commander!”

The dinosaur person was astounded again, “Four-dimensional warships? You actually have such things? How do you pilot them… I understand now, a combination of technology and religion, with your clerics piloting the four-dimensional warships. The fusion of deities and technology is incredibly powerful!”
