Only God

Chapter 526 Slaier's Trick

After discussing with Oren, Veldor quickly began to take action.

They had to draw the attention of the so-called "Netherworld Judges" and force these people to meet with them.

So, what was the best way to do this?

In this afterlife world, committing more crimes was necessary so that the judges had no choice but to step in for a trial.

Oren and Veldor had discussed several times. Petty thefts weren't significant enough, and neither were crimes of murder and assault... None of these could compel the judges to appear; the best way was to wreak major havoc on the town.

How could they cause major havoc?

Both were already in a soul-like state with significantly diminished senses, what could they possibly destroy?

Immense challenges stood before the two, but Oren had already come up with a plan.

"We'll establish a secret society, stir them up, make them believe they aren't really dead. In the end, we'll all revolt together and disrupt the town's order!" Oren said excitedly.

Veldor found this extremely feasible after hearing it.

You see, most people don't want to die. They just arrive at this afterlife town and are forced to accept the so-called "reality," but if they told these people that everyone wasn't actually dead and it was all a huge conspiracy, even without much evidence, they could still rally a large crowd.

With the plan set, the two quickly began their actions.

"Listen to me, you're not really dead."

"Think about your wife and children in the Mortal World, and your aged parents. Could you really bear to leave them like this?"

"You're still young, you can't just die. Think about it, you're so young and in the prime of your life, how could you have suddenly died from a severe illness?"

"Even though you're old, think about it, don't you have many things left undone? Living is always better than dying, even heroes can't stand the Great Plain."

...

Oren and Veldor focused their gaze on those newcomers, "the dead," secretly informing them that this was all a lie, all a conspiracy.

They constantly painted the beautiful aspects of their lives before death and the endless pain after death. Under their persuasion and speech, most people were convinced; they began to doubt the reality of their death and doubted that this place was the Netherworld.

These new "dead" began to gradually influence those who had been here longer and had accepted their demise.

Under the actions of Oren and Veldor, a society of nearly a hundred members from various races and beliefs secretly sprung up within just two to three months, all with the sole purpose of exposing the lies of this afterlife town.

Of course, their significant actions caught Wally's attention.

This spokesperson chosen by Slaier felt both fear and panic.

Wally knew better than anyone else; the afterlife town wasn't real, and its residents hadn't died at all. They were all very much alive.

Once these people organized and disrupted the order of the afterlife town, what then?

Left with no choice, Wally sought out the god of deception and schemes again.

Unexpectedly, Slaier didn't seem very concerned.

"It's fine, the matter will resolve itself."

Slaier waved his hand.

"It will resolve itself? But they'll discover the truth soon!"

Wally urgently said.

"Your god hasn't even panicked, what are you panicking for?" Slaier scolded, "No matter how many people they have, they are merely mortals."

Hearing this, Wally desperately clutched his head, "But I am also a mortal! They may not harm you, but they can harm me! It's over, all over!"

The boy couldn't help but shout in panic inside the Temple, perhaps Slaier found him too annoying, the god slapped his hands, and a powerful force ejected Wally out of the Temple gates.

Wally turned around and saw the Temple doors were shut tight, no matter how he cried and shouted, the doors remained firmly closed.

With no other choice, Wally had to return to the town, covered in dirt. He pretended to be calm while also discussing countermeasures with the priests of deception and schemes.

To Wally's surprise.

After a heated discussion, the priests decided to follow Slaier's arrangement.

"Lord Wally, even though you are a divine spokesperson, you must never interfere with the plans of the divine." An elderly priest warned: "Many fools think they are favored by the divine and grow arrogant, forgetting their place, eventually ruining the divine's plans and bringing disaster upon themselves."

The other priests also echoed this, advising Wally to adhere to Slaier's words and not to act on his own.

Wally was helpless, he gave up. He understood that alone he could do nothing, he was powerless to stop Oren and Veldor. Hence, he chose to turn a blind eye.

After all, he didn't build this town himself; he was just a spokesperson for Slaier and hadn't put much effort into this place.

The town's indulgence towards Oren and Veldor allowed their society to grow and expand quickly.

"The dead" regarded Oren and Veldor as their leaders, especially Oren, who declared himself a Philosopher. With his outstanding intelligence and excellent eloquence, he won over the crowd. The society's "dead" believed unquestionably in his life as the Supreme Good and Hero, and they heavily praised and embellished his accomplishments.
