Chapter 181: Aamon.
Gates' smirk widened into a full grin, his sharp features lighting up with genuine excitement. Even a man of his stature wasn't immune to the thrill of acquiring rare treasures.
"You never fail to amaze me," Gates muttered, stepping closer to examine the items. His fingers twitched slightly, eager to claim the items.
"How much for all three?" he asked, his gaze never leaving the weapons.
Arthur's eyes locked onto Gates', his expression unreadable. Then, with a calm tone, he delivered his price.
"Nothing."
Gates froze, momentarily thrown off. "Nothing?"
Arthur's smile didn't waver. "You can take them. Like you said before—consider it a token of our friendship."
For a moment, Gates was silent, before a genuine chuckle escaped him.
"Well, well," Gates mused, shaking his head with an amused grin. "Then I won't embarrass you by refusing."
He reached out, touching each item lightly before they vanished into his storage inventory with a faint shimmer.
His smile lingered as he gave Arthur a final glance.
...
After the meeting with Gates, Arthur's business in the village was concluded—every loose end tied, every plan set into motion.
'There is nothing left to do here.' He thought as he reached into his inventory.
Arthur pulled out the city teleportation scroll, and with a flick of his wrist, he activated it.
A surge of energy crackled around him, the forest fading from view in a shimmer of blue light.
In an instant, Arthur's body vanished from the dense woods and reappeared in the heart of Caldera.
As he appeared inside the inn, Arthur's vision was suddenly flooded with a cascade of system notifications.
[You have killed a level 8 human, Jake.][You have killed a level 9 human, Ryker.][You have killed a level 7 human, Lila.][... ][... ]
A slow, knowing smile spread across Arthur's face.
'So, Aamon has begun.'
He dismissed the notifications with a flick of his hand, but the amusement lingered in his eyes.
His demon summon was hard at work, leaving a trail of devastation in his wake. Arthur had expected no less.
"Aamon is slaughtering the so-called rescuers."
Arthur's smirk deepened, imagining the chaos unfolding back in the village. He could almost hear the desperate shouts of players trying—and failing—to take down the monstrous demon guarding Adam's cell.
The thought was entertaining. It was ironic that the person that had imprisoned him and tried to put a leash on him in the real world, has been imprisoned and put on a leash by him in Armageddon.
There wasn't a shred of concern in Arthur's mind.
Overwhelmed by numbers? Outmatched by strength? Not Aamon.
The demon wasn't just a summon—he was a nightmare brought to life. Explore more stories with My Virtual Library Empire
A Superior-Grade Boss with an S-Rank talent, a body honed for destruction, and a mind steeped in cruelty. Against him, the players in the village were little more than sheep thrown to the wolves.
'They never stood a chance,' Arthur mused, hands tucked casually into his pockets as he began walking through the streets of Caldera.
[You have killed a level 15 Mantis (Elite-Boss)]
Arthur raised his eyebrow softly, his summons were really working hard. They had made him gain one more level in a single day. Levelling up from level 14 to 15 wasn't easy in the slightest. It was incredibly challenging, even if you kill monsters above your level.
[Ding!]
[You have levelled up to Level 15]
[All attribute points will be increased by 1]
[You have gained 1 free attribute point and 1 Skill Point]
As Arthur's mood became better from levelling up and growing stronger, someone else had a bad mood.
...
Inside a room of a high-ranking member inside the military base.
Donald leaned back in his chair, arms crossed as he watched Adam pace back and forth, his face twisted in barely contained fury.
Adam slammed a fist against the cold metal table."How is that possible? Damn it!"
His voice echoed off the walls, sharp and biting. His eyes, darkened by frustration, burned with disbelief."You're telling me they barely stepped foot into the underground prison before they were slaughtered by a being they barely even saw?"
Donald sighed, rubbing his temple. His voice was calm but edged with disappointment."That's right, Adam. You made a rookie mistake. You should've listened to Arthur and stayed put. Now, you've wasted not just your own time and talent—but his too."
Adam's fists clenched tighter."But I thought he had to be the one who slaughtered the monsters during the horde. Who else could it have been? I can't believe that the mayor is actually this powerful and hiding such a powerful being!"
Donald's gaze was steady, almost pitying.
"Well, he wasn't. Everything we have proves that. That kid's talent is luck—like he said. And honestly... I believe him. There wasn't a single moment, from what you've told me, where he showed the kind of raw power needed to pull that off."
"It must be a quest! I can't leave the village yet, I need to get stronger enough to overthrow him. This has to be a limited-time quest, it's at least an S-Rank Quest."
Donald nodded.
"I Agree, you should stay in the village and sort the issue out. But, you should also know when to give up. It's better to enter the city and find more opportunities there than waste time trying to do an impossible mission."
Adam nodded, before letting out a bitter laugh, shaking his head.
"Damn it... I've been staring at those damn prison walls for days now. And the worst part? I have to stay logged into Armageddon for the timer to even start counting down."
His voice dropped, frustration turning into resignation."I even tried using the teleportation scroll. Nothing. I can't leave until my sentence is served."
Donald nodded, his expression somber."The kid must be in the same situation as you. I'll meet with him today—see if he has any ideas. Who knows? With a luck talent like his, maybe... just maybe... he can help you both escape."
Adam exhaled deeply, rubbing the back of his neck."I hope so."
A brief pause settled between them before Adam asked,"What about Jacob? Any progress?"
Donald nodded."Yeah, but he says he needs more time."
"Alright then."
Adam's gaze hardened as he turned toward the door."I'm heading back. The sooner I finish my time, the better."
As Adam left, the door clicked shut behind him, leaving Donald alone in the silence.
