Chapter 103: Neko is FINALLY listening to ORDERS
Arthur checked the time on his wristband and froze.
"Shit!" he hissed under his breath. "I was so engrossed in my time with Charlotte, that I completely forgot about the event!"
His eyes darted to time on his phone. After some quick mental calculation, he realised that fucked up.
"Only 5 minutes until the Monster Horde event begins."
"I need to get back now!" he muttered silently, glancing at Charlotte's sleeping figure. He gently moved his hand away from her hair, careful not to wake her, before vanishing as he logged back into Armageddon.
When Arthur reappeared in the game, Arthur expected to see the forest's usual greenery, he blinked—and his stomach dropped.
Instead of lush trees and quiet calm, the area around him was a chaotic mass of black fur, sharp claws, and glowing red eyes.
"What the…?" Arthur's gaze darted around, his heart racing as he realized the situation. He wasn't in a safe zone. No, he was surrounded—completely encircled—by at least 50 monsters.
Massive, hulking creatures with pitch-black fur snarled and growled. T
heir powerful limbs ended in razor-sharp claws, and their glowing red eyes were locked on him with predatory intent.
At the centre of the pack stood an enormous black bear, towering at least twice the size of a normal bear. Its shaggy fur seemed to absorb the light, and its claws were like jagged blades, glinting ominously even in the dimness of the forest.
Arthur's breath caught as the bear turned its massive head, its glowing crimson eyes locking onto him with a primal hunger.
The other monsters seemed to follow the bear's lead, their growls growing louder as it took a step toward him.
The ground trembled slightly beneath its weight as the bear huffed, a low rumble emanating from its chest.
Arthur forced a wry smile onto his face and gave a sheepish wave. "Yo!" he said, his voice unnaturally casual.
The bear didn't seem amused. With a deafening roar, it lunged forward, its claws swiping through the air with terrifying speed.
"Guess I'm not welcome here!" Arthur muttered, his instincts kicking in. Just as the bear swiped, he pushed off the ground with all his strength, jumping high into the air.
The beast's claws narrowly missed him, tearing through the space he'd occupied a second ago. Arthur grabbed onto a nearby tree branch, his leap propelling him upward just in time to avoid the attack.
As he swung himself onto the branch, he glanced down, the monsters below swarming like a sea of shadows. The massive bear let out another furious roar, shaking the trees around it.
"Well," Arthur muttered to himself, crouched on the branch. "This is… not great."
The monsters began circling the tree, their glowing eyes tracking his every move. The bear huffed again, pawing at the ground with its colossal claws, as if readying itself for another charge—this time aimed at the tree itself.
The monsters began circling the tree, their glowing eyes tracking his every move. The massive black bear at the centre growled deeply, its breath visible in the cool forest air. It pawed at the ground, preparing for another charge.
Arthur crouched on the branch, his lips curling into a grin.
"Well, well," he muttered under his breath. "What a spot to log out in. I couldn't have planned this better if I tried."
The chaotic situation didn't seem to faze him. On the contrary, his eyes gleamed with excitement. 'This event hasn't even started yet, and I've got a head start. Contribution points, experience, and loot? All for me.'
Arthur scanned the horde below him.
Most of the monsters were around level 4, slightly weaker than what he'd hoped for.
"Tsk. No rare items, huh?" he said, shaking his head lightly. "But hey, mosquito meat is still meat. It all adds up."
His grin widened as a dark portal materialized beside him. Summoning his forces one by one, his strongest allies began to emerge.
First came Sylvaris, his sinuous serpent body coiling gracefully beneath the tree, his emerald eyes narrowing as he surveyed the enemy.
Sunless followed, his shadowy form flickering like a ghost, his movements fluid and deadly.
Next, Hank swooped down from the portal, letting out a piercing cry that made several of the monsters flinch.
Borak charged forward next, his tusks gleaming, snorting aggressively as he pawed at the ground like a bull preparing for battle.
Lupin padded into the clearing, his sharp eyes gleaming with predatory anticipation.
Finally, Neko leaped through the portal.
She landed gracefully on all fours before glancing around with a bored expression, her expression remained unfazed as she took in the sheer number of enemies.
Arthur smirked and gestured. "Guys, attack! Take down everything that moves."
The summons didn't wait for further orders. Sylvaris lunged at the nearest wolf, his fangs sinking deep into its neck.
The beast thrashed wildly before collapsing, its body dissolving into a faint shimmer of light as it dropped an item. Continue your saga on empire
Sunless darted like a shadow between monsters, each movement precise as he struck, leaving a trail of fallen enemies in his wake.
Hank soared above, diving down to rake his talons across the eyes of a lumbering ogre-like beast, disorienting it long enough for Lupin to leap in and finish it off with a precise bite to the throat.
Borak, as always, was a force of nature. He barreled through a group of smaller monsters, his tusks slashing through them like butter. A ferocious roar from him sent several beasts scattering in panic.
Arthur, however, didn't immediately join the fray. Instead, he focused on Neko, who was still standing at the base of the tree. "Neko," he called, his tone commanding but not harsh. "Up here."
Neko obeyed immediately, leaping up and landing on his shoulder with grace. Her soft fur brushed against his cheek as she settled into place.
Arthur smirked, his latest talent effect was by far the one he enjoyed the most. He was finally able to dominate his first ever summon.
"Well, Well...Well. Look who is finally following orders" he muttered.
He decided to check her thoughts, curious about her reaction. Almost immediately, her voice echoed in his mind.
"This human-nya… How did he make me obey him-nya? My body instinctively listened to his words-nya. This is infuriating-nya, but also… intriguing."
