Chapter 107: Power Release State
As Boros' aura continued to climb, his body began to change.
Veins across his body lit up with a blue glow, his hair stood on end like a Super Saiyan's, and with his armor gone, a large blue eye could be seen in the center of his chest.
When his aura reached its peak, an overwhelming force erupted from him, surging toward the sky like a storm.
Everyone there was overwhelmed by the intense pressure Boros radiated. Everyone except Saitama, who sat calmly, eating sunflower seeds. Shinji's wooden clone sat next to him, doing the same.
Shinji had deliberately kept this wooden clone's power active so it could protect the other S-Class heroes if needed.
The clone's strength was limited, but with Kamui's abilities like "intangibility," it could still handle emergencies with ease.
"I'm afraid... this guy is the real deal," Bang said, his face grave.
"We can get attacked from both sides, huh? This could get tricky..." Atomic Samurai was still thinking of the Ten-Tails as an enemy.
Ten-Tails' sheer size alone made it a menace, and the aura Boros was giving off looked even more dangerous.
"Tatsumaki is our biggest hope. We'll assist her," Child Emperor said, already realizing Boros was no ordinary foe.
"I'm here!" At that moment, Tanktop Master, who had been sent flying earlier by the Super Shinra Tensei, came running back to join the fight.
Though Shinji's earlier attack had made him understand the overwhelming power of psychic abilities, he hadn't been discouraged.
As an S-Class hero whose strength relied on physical power, his mindset and willpower were the exact opposite of Superalloy Darkshine's.
"Tanktop Master, you're here too. That guy over there seems especially strong. Let's support little Tatsumaki in attacking him," Superalloy Darkshine said.
"Got it."
Tanktop Master nodded, surprised that so many S-Class heroes were needed just to deal with this one opponent.
"Not everyone's here, but this should be enough..." Genos aimed his arm cannons separately at both the Ten-Tails and Boros.
He wondered which one was the "God-level threat" his teacher had spoken of, or if that term referred to both of them together.
It was like how the whole incident involving the Sea Folk was classified as a Demon-level disaster, the term "disaster" often referred to the overall event, not a single target.
So if enough Demon-level monsters appeared together to cause chaos, it could be considered a Dragon-level disaster.
"Probably. Either way, we'll have to fight," Child Emperor said, though his instincts told him the outcome was far from certain.
Several S-Class heroes were still absent. Aside from Blast and Metal Knight, who were already missing, Drive Knight, King, Watchdog Man, Flashy Flash, Pig God, and Zombie Man had all left as well.
Even with more than ten S-Class heroes still present, the oppressive aura Boros gave off was enough to make the Child Emperor uneasy.
"Don't slow me down!" Tatsumaki clearly had no intention of coordinating with the others.
She immediately launched a psychic attack at Boros, who had just finished gathering energy. A swirling air current surged toward him like a cannonball. But Boros easily dodged it and, moving at a speed nearly impossible to see with the naked eye, charged straight at her in a direct, brutal melee assault.
Tatsumaki's body was surrounded by a protective energy barrier, yet in the blink of an eye Boros was right in front of her.
"ORA ORA ORA ORA!"
Boros' fists blurred into afterimages as he hammered relentlessly at Tatsumaki's barrier.
Cracks began spreading rapidly across the energy shield, each punch deepening the fractures.
Tatsumaki's expression grew serious. She shot into the air to evade Boros' strikes, summoning multiple tornadoes that swept up chunks of rubble from the ground and hurled them toward him.
Boros ignored the cyclones entirely. His legs tensed, and then.
Boom!
The ground cratered under the force of his leap, propelling him toward Tatsumaki in the sky.
Bang and the others had originally intended to support her, but with the fight now taking place high above, there was little they could do.
Even those with ranged attacks couldn't land a clean hit. The speed of both fighters made aiming nearly impossible, and a misfire could easily hit Tatsumaki instead.
All they could do was watch from the ground.
Boros' speed was so great that Tatsumaki struggled to react. A devastating uppercut shattered her barrier completely.
She quickly formed another, but Boros' fist was already in front of her, and then... nothing. His punch didn't connect.
"...?"
Surprised, Boros realized that Tatsumaki had vanished.
His combat instincts kicked in instantly. Ignoring his eyes, he locked onto her presence, turning his head, only to see her on the ground, cradled in Shinji's arms… in a princess carry, again.
"Stop overexerting yourself. You haven't recovered your strength yet. That enemy is a cosmic fighter," Shinji said to the princess.
Before Boros had arrived, Tatsumaki's fight with the Ten-Tails had already drained her. Only a few hours had passed since then, hardly enough time for her to recover much of her power.
In this state, she stood no chance against Boros in his released form. Even at full power, it was uncertain whether she could defeat him in this state. At best, she might be able to break his armor when he was still in his suppressed form.
As for his final Meteor Burst form, apart from Saitama, no S-Class hero would survive for more than a moment.
In his released form alone, Tatsumaki was the only one who could barely match him.
"Put me down!"
Since she was conscious this time, Tatsumaki resisted more strongly.
Shinji simply let go without warning. The sudden drop nearly made her fall, but she managed to float with telekinesis before hitting the ground.
"I really am out of stamina, but that guy isn't ordinary. You'll die..." She looked up at Boros, still in the sky, her tone grim.
It was the first time she had faced an enemy like him, a domineering power that could even suppress her psychic abilities.
"Then pray for me," Shinji replied calmly, smiling.
"Die, you idiot! Who cares about you?!" She turned away with a huff, hands on her hips.
Shinji didn't mind. In the next moment, his figure vanished.
"...? Wait!!" She had meant to warn him about something, but by the time she tried to call out, he was already gone.
