Chapter 104: CHAPTER 104

Boom!" Three amplified attacks collided simultaneously with the swirling purple-black tornado-like enchantment. Artoria's razor-sharp sword aura, Casa's roaring soundwave empowered by his Zoan transformation, and Enel's thunderbird composed of high-voltage lightning all struck dead center. And yet the vortex didn't falter. The barrier absorbed the impact entirely, as though it were a living thing devouring energy. Not a single crack appeared—its swirling form remained untouched, calm and complete.

"Why why is it like this again?" Enel narrowed his eyes, frustrated. His lightning should have incinerated a steel battleship, yet it had vanished as if swallowed by the sea.

"It doesn't make sense our combined attack could level a mountain range." Artoria gritted her teeth. Her sword was empowered with advanced Armament Haki, and Enel's Logia powers had always been devastating in direct strikes. This… this wasn't just resistance it was consumption.

"Wait. Look closely did you notice? All of our attacks… they didn't bounce off or dissipate. They were absorbed." Casa pointed with a clenched fist still buzzing from residual force. "My soundwave, your sword aura, Enel's thunderbird everything just vanished inside. This isn't deflection or nullification. It's like the barrier feeds on energy."

"Now that you mention it," Artoria said, her brows tightening, "it's not just durable it's reactive. Like Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi, but externalized as an active storm. It devours."

"If that's the case, then our current tactics are useless." Enel looked at the tornado grimly. "Even Armament Haki didn't get through. It's not about power it's some kind of layered defense. An artificial barrier? A Devil Fruit domain? Or maybe… a clash between two advanced powers creating a vacuum?"

"Still, we can't just sit back and do nothing Rin's inside that thing!" Artoria clenched the hilt of Excalibur. Her concern was raw now, her voice cracking slightly. Rin's aura had faded from her perception, hidden by the twisting energies.

"We've seen Rin take worse hits. Don't forget, he's no rookie," Casa said, folding his arms. "I overheard from the crowd it was a Fishman he was fighting. Even if it's a strong one, with Rin's current command over the Shine-Shine Fruit and his mastery of swordsmanship, he should be able to either overwhelm or escape."

"That's assuming it's a regular Fishman," Artoria said sharply, eyes still locked on the spiraling void. "What if it's one of the New Fishman Pirates? Someone who knows Haki or ancient Fishman Karate? That barrier isn't natural. What if Bone Erosion has awakened powers?"

"Even if that's true, Rin isn't defenseless. He's got Haki, the Shine-Shine Fruit, and he's been evolving fast ever since Punk Hazard. He might even have awakened his fruit already." Casa stared at the dark storm, more thoughtful now. "Still, this vortex... it's unlike anything we've encountered since Dressrosa. It's more like a mirrored reflection of a clash between two Haoshoku users."

"I hope so…" Artoria murmured, quietly folding her hands near her heart. "Please hold on, Rin…"

Rin and Bone Erosion had been exchanging blows back and forth for quite some time, yet neither of them could gain the upper hand or take advantage of an opening.

"Hey, Uncle Bone Erosion, how about we take a step back and reassess? Fighting like this won't lead to anything concrete," Rin said, panting and drenched in sweat. He had no desire for a meaningless battle that would only lead to mutual exhaustion and possibly injury. There was nothing to gain in a draw or worse, in both sides falling.

"Oh? Thinking of surrendering already?" Bone Erosion grinned, though inwardly he was fatigued. In truth, the battle was already wearing on him, but pride kept him from admitting it. For someone of his stature a famed swordmaster to be matched blow-for-blow by a young upstart like Rin was both surprising and mildly embarrassing. A loss here, even symbolic, would sting the pride of someone once spoken of in the same breath as legends like Shimotsuki Ryuma or Flower Blade Vista. So Bone Erosion, ever mindful of reputation, masked his fatigue behind bluster.

"This isn't about winning or losing anymore," Rin said seriously, glancing around at the dense, swirling air. "We need to figure out how to get out of here." He'd already noticed something strange earlier when his attacks brushed against the purple-black fog surrounding them, it felt like striking solid stone. The smoke was no longer just atmosphere it was a boundary.

"Oh?" Bone Erosion blinked, momentarily distracted from the thrill of combat. "I hadn't realized." He'd been so absorbed in their clash, trying to test Rin's technique against his own, that he hadn't paid attention to their environment.

"Look." Rin raised his thunder-charged blade, the Thunder Fang, and slashed directly in front of him. A bright crescent of sword aura shot out, charged with both electricity and Haki, and crashed into the purple-black fog with a sharp snap only to dissipate like a wave crashing against steel. The fog rippled but didn't budge.

"Huh? It's solid?" Bone Erosion's eyes widened as he stepped forward, prodding the barrier with the back of his blade. "We assumed it was just encasing the battlefield, but it's actually... holding us in."

"This fog," Rin said, studying it more closely, "it's like it's alive. I think it came from that Ghost Slash earlier." He touched the swirling edge cautiously. It didn't burn or hurt, but it repelled his fingers gently like dense magnetic force.

"It began when we both released our Ghost Slash at the same time." Bone Erosion nodded in realization. He recalled how the purple-black energy emitted from both his Bone-Etch Blade and Rin's Thunder Fang had converged during that clash, and instead of dispersing, it had thickened, wrapping around them like a cocoon.

"You think it fused because our sword auras are too similar?" Rin suggested. He'd noticed during their Ghost Slash exchange that their Haki-infused strikes had harmonized instead of clashing like two pieces of the same energy puzzle linking together.

"That's probably it. These ghost remnants... they're forming some kind of combined domain." Bone Erosion stepped closer to the edge of the tornado-like barrier and drove his fist into it thump, thump, thump! A dull echo reverberated like striking dense granite. "Feels like Enel's lightning barrier from Skypiea or Bartolomeo's Barrier-Barrier Fruit solid and sealed off."

"Which means we're trapped unless we figure out a way to force an exit," Rin said, scanning the area for weak points or fluctuations in the structure of the barrier. His instincts were yelling that something was wrong. "This whole place… it's like it's feeding on our energy."

"Sakura Fall Thousand Swords!" Bone Erosion suddenly roared, slashing the air with elegant precision. In an instant, a flurry of phantom cherry blossom petals began falling, shimmering in the purple light. With a stance steeped in old Wano kenjutsu, Bone Erosion raised his blade across his chest and launched dozens of consecutive slashes. Each strike created a blade of wind infused with Armament and ghostly aura petals carried by lethal sword intent, all flying straight toward the edge of the barrier.

Rin held his breath, watching as the dazzling storm of petals and blades collided with the wall. Smoke and wind burst outward in a chaotic dance but as the dust settled, his eyes widened.

"No damage…" he muttered.

The enchantment stood as strong as before not a single mark, not even a superficial crack. It had absorbed Bone Erosion's technique, one that could slice through battleships, as though it were nothing more than a light breeze.

Rin's heart sank slightly. He had hoped that Bone Erosion's mysterious sakura-based technique, possibly developed from forgotten Wano traditions, could break the seal but the result left no room for misinterpretation.

The purple-black enchantment remained, utterly unscathed.
