Chapter 242: 242: Inferno at the Red Line

The ascending ocean current surged up from the Grand Line, crossing the Red Line, and entered the mouth of the New World.

Just off the coast of that inlet stood the Navy's G1 branch, which, after the fall of Marineford, had become the new Marine Headquarters.

Right now—

A massive number of elite Marine soldiers and government forces were stationed there. Warships and escort vessels patrolled the perimeter, guarding the steel fortress that loomed at the sea's edge.

Towering cannons were mounted atop the fortress, and stern-faced Marine officers barked orders while tense, focused soldiers made the final preparations for battle.

"Move faster!"

"We are the final line of defense! We cannot let the pirates set foot on the Red Line!"

"Load every last shell! Double-check everything!"

"Y-Yes, sir!"

At the highest point of the fortress, Gion draped in her Justice coat—stood silently. Her gaze was fixed on the distant battlefield..

"What are you doing here?"

Her sudden words were directed at a figure who had just arrived beside her.

It was Aramaki, hands in his pockets. "The Fleet Admiral seemed uneasy about this side of things… so he sent me to lend a hand."

He glanced at the flames in the distance. "Things don't look too great over there."

"The attack is fiercer than expected," Gion replied evenly, "but it's still within calculations."

Just then—

A rear admiral rushed over with a Den Den Mushi in hand, breathless. "Urgent update from a Rear Admiral—Diamond Jozu has led the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates to attack from the rear! They've joined forces with the Beasts Pirates and the Revolutionary Army to launch a coordinated counteroffensive!"

"Our forces are struggling to hold back! We're already being pushed back from the second line of defense!"

Gion gave a short nod, her expression calm. "Understood."

Aramaki turned to her. "So, what's your plan?"

She fell silent for a few seconds before instructing the officer holding the Den Den Mushi: "Tell the Rear Admiral to abandon the second line. Don't get bogged down in a prolonged fight—fall back to this inlet. We'll make our stand here."

"Understood!"

"And send word to HQ—tell them to prepare reinforcements as needed."

"Yes, ma'am!"

Once the officer had left—

Aramaki raised a brow at her in surprise. "You're giving up the first and second lines just like that?"

"We were never counting on those lines to hold," Gion said coldly. "They were just meant to draw out the enemy's strength. This—" her eyes narrowed as she gazed toward the fiery horizon, "—is the real battlefield."

Within the World Government's central command:

Figures moved swiftly through the corridors, their expressions tight, their footsteps brisk.

Inside the grand war room—

"So, the Beasts Pirates, Revolutionary Army, and Whitebeard remnants have all revealed themselves… and are launching a full-scale frontal assault…"

Sengoku, arms crossed, listened intently to the latest reports from the front, his expression dark and contemplative.

"Confirmed enemies include Jack, Queen, the four commanders of the Revolutionary Army, and Diamond Jozu… But the truly dangerous ones still haven't shown their faces," he muttered.

The CP0 commander spoke in a low, grave tone. "Those hidden figures… they're the ones we must be most wary of."

"We must force them into the open. If we let them strike from the shadows while we remain exposed… the outcome will be devastating."

Vice Admiral Tsuru spoke next, her tone calm yet resolute. "Agreed. As long as they remain hidden, our forces will be at a strategic disadvantage."

Sengoku turned to her. "Got an idea, Tsuru? Let's hear it."

"Send the CP units and Special Science Group to reinforce Gion's position," she said, her eyes flashing with calculated precision. "The Special Science Group can leverage the terrain around the inlet—they'll be able to unleash their full potential. If we can stop the enemy's main force there and eliminate as many of their fighters as possible, the hidden enemies will be forced to reveal themselves and act on the front lines."

Her voice was composed, her words razor-sharp.

"By shifting the core battlefield away from Mary Geoise and anchoring it near our Marine base, we'll secure a significant tactical advantage."

Sengoku fell silent for a moment, then nodded. "Very well. Deploy the Special Science Group. CP will escort and support them."

He turned to both the CP0 commander and Kong.

"That acceptable?"

Kong gave a short, firm nod.

"Approved."

Once the orders were issued—

CP's intelligence division, under the World Government's command, escorted Sentomaru and the Special Science Group from Mary Geoise, rushing toward the inlet at the base of the Red Line.

Meanwhile, beneath the towering cliffs of the Red Line—

Gion and Aramaki led the Marines stationed at the third line of defense. Alongside them, the rest of the warships that had retreated from the second line gathered at the inlet, forming a tight and ready formation.

Then they saw it—

Over a hundred ships belonging to the Beasts Pirates, the Revolutionary Army, and the Whitebeard remnants surfaced one after another, forming a straight line across the horizon. The tension among the Navy soldiers spiked as the enemy fleet slowly, yet confidently, sailed toward the base.

The entire sea was blanketed in a suffocating silence, as if holding its breath for the first explosion of chaos.

And the moment the Beasts Pirates entered the Navy's artillery range—

Gion's sharp eyes narrowed.

"Open fire!"

In that instant, every cannon mounted on the fortress roared, along with the warships. A storm of shells rained across the sea toward the enemy fleet.

But they were ready.

The Beasts Pirates, the Revolutionary Army, and the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates retaliated instantly, launching a thunderous barrage of their own.

Explosions erupted across the waters. Shells collided. Flames soared into the sky.

The sea boiled with the fury of war. Wave after wave of shock blasts sent ships rocking violently in the blast wind.

Long-range snipers and Devil Fruit users specializing in ranged attacks joined in, unleashing wave after wave of destruction.

It was all-out war. A battlefield of fire and steel.

"One-Sword Style—Soothing Slash."

Gion drew her blade and unleashed a sharp wave of sword aura that hurtled toward the Beasts Pirates' ships.

But mid-air, it was blocked.

Jack had stepped forward, crossing his massive arms hardened with Armament Haki, and intercepted the attack head-on.

"Queen! Throw me over!"

One of the Tobiroppo, Page One, shouted with wild eyes at Queen, his expression feral.

"You sure about that? Might kill you, y'know."

"I don't care!"

"Heh… got it!"

Queen grabbed him by the collar and, using monstrous strength, hurled him straight toward the Marine fleet like a living missile.

Midair, Page One transformed—his body morphing into a massive, spiny Spinosaurus using the powers of the Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Ancient Zoan type, Model: Spinosaurus.

Gasps and shouts erupted from the Marines.

With a thunderous crash, the giant dinosaur slammed into one of the Navy warships just outside the fortress walls.

"ROOOAARR!!"

He reared his head and roared skyward. His tail swept across the deck in a savage arc, tearing through the ship's defenses in a frenzy. Bloodshot eyes scanning the terrified soldiers, he lunged into unrestrained destruction. Marines froze in fear, trembling under his monstrous pressure.

Just as he raised a clawed foot to stomp a group of soldiers—

Slash!

A sword strike cut through the air, knocking him back several steps.

From across the deck, a tall Marine in a Justice coat stood firm, long blade in hand.

Vice Admiral Momonga.

His gaze was cold and steady as it locked onto the dinosaur before him. "I'm not letting you rampage unchecked."

A woman's voice called from above.

"Oh? You think you can stop us alone?"

With a thunderous crash, another figure landed heavily on the same warship.

It was Ulti, another member of the Tobiroppo, in her Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Ancient Zoan type, Model: Pachycephalosaurus form.

She and her brother, Page One, now stood on either side of Momonga, surrounding him.

Momonga's face darkened.

With each powerful throw, Queen launched more of the Tobiroppo and the Gifters across the battlefield toward the Marine fleet like living projectiles.

All over the Marine warships, high-ranking officers of the Beasts Pirates began to clash violently with the Marines. Vice Admirals like Onigumo and Strawberry were each entangled in intense, one-on-one skirmishes against these formidable enemies, leaving them unable to reinforce the front lines.

And then, another power surged forward—

Eastern Army Commander of the Revolutionary Army, Belo Betty, stepped up and activated the power of her Pump-Pump Fruit.

"Let the World Government see what we're made of!"

Standing boldly at the bow of the ship, she waved her flag high and shouted with passion. A wave of invisible energy surged out from her—one that lit a fire in the hearts of every fighter from the Beasts Pirates, the Revolutionary Army, and the Whitebeard remnants. Morale skyrocketed, and every warrior's strength surged. Their eyes burned with courage, fearless of death as they charged ahead with reckless valor.

The pressure on the Marines suddenly intensified.

Then came the Northern Army Commander, Karasu.

He activated his powers and dissolved into a black storm of crows, swarming the Marine fleet from above. His crows disrupted the aim of the Marine cannoneers, blocking their vision and sabotaging their attacks, throwing their entire formation into chaos.

"Charge!!"

"For Pops!"

"Kill these damn Marines!"

The Whitebeard Pirates, emboldened by Betty's ability, seized the moment. Under the lead of powerhouses like Jozu and the remaining commanders, they launched a blitz assault. Within moments, they reached the front lines of the Marine fleet.

They leapt onto the Marine warships—and the brutal close-quarters carnage began.

Amid the blood and steel, Aramaki rubbed his head and glanced sideways at Gion.

"Think it's time for us to jump in?"

Gion didn't even look at him. Her eyes were cold, her sword already in motion. "I never said you couldn't."

She unleashed a flash of sword aura, slicing clean through the chaos and sending a Zoan-type Gifter—who had been rampaging on the deck—flying dozens of meters into the ocean.

Tap.

Chaton stepped beside Aramaki and clapped him lightly on the shoulder. "Don't take it personally. She's always like that."

And then, in a blur—

He vanished using Shave, reappearing midair before launching a devastating Tempest Kick toward the Whitebeard Pirates.

Crash!

Jozu punched the incoming wind blade with his diamond-hardened fist, shattering it on impact.

Aramaki scanned the battlefield. His eyes settled on the Beasts Pirates' flagship, which, despite being hammered by artillery, surged forward relentlessly.

He took a breath.

Then, with a sudden stomp, he launched himself high into the air—his green curls fluttering—and descended straight onto the flagship of the Beasts Pirates.

Jack narrowed his eyes and launched a thunderous punch.

Aramaki's leg snapped forward to meet it.

Fist and foot, both coated in thick layers of Armament Haki, collided with a deafening boom!

The entire ship dipped under the force of their clash.

Jack staggered back several steps, his face twisted with shock as he stared at the figure now standing tall on the flagship's deck.

"That guy… he's dangerous," Jack growled.

Queen strolled up beside him, cigar in his mouth, his expression sharp as his eyes narrowed on the green-haired man cloaked in Justice.

"Careful. That's the Navy's Admiral Candidate—Aramaki."

Aramaki swept his hair back with one hand and flashed a crooked grin at them.

"War sure is a pain, huh?" he chuckled. "What do you guys think?"

As this epic clash unfolded at the inlet of the Red Line—

The CP Intelligence Division and the Special Science Group continued descending from Mary Geoise, heading toward the very same battlefield.

But just as they neared the inlet—

BOOM! A strange sound echoed across the sky.

"Ahhhh!!"

Everyone instinctively looked up.

What they saw stunned them speechless.

Ships—entire ships—and dozens of dark figures were falling from the sky like meteors.

"What in the world…"

Sentomaru's eyes widened. When he caught sight of a certain someone among the falling figures, his expression changed dramatically.

"That's… the Straw Hat crew!"

"No, not just them… That's the Kid Pirates! Hawkins Pirates! Fire Tank Pirates… Wait—!!"

A gasp of realization struck the CP unit commander.

"That's… the Straw Hat Grand Fleet!"

"They're delivering themselves to us, huh? Perfect."

Sentomaru calmed his breath and raised a hand.

"Pacifistas—attack!"

More than thirty Pacifistas—each one identical to Bartholomew Kuma—lifted their arms and opened their mouths. Blasts of devastating laser beams shot upward toward the descending alliance.

But—

Some evaded the lasers with lightning-fast reflexes.

Others took the blasts head-on without flinching.

And a few—

Slashed the lasers apart with sheer sword aura!

"Gomu Gomu no… Gigant BALLOON!!"

Luffy inflated into a massive rubber ball, absorbing the impact as all the descending pirates landed atop him.

BOOM!

He hit the ground like a living shock absorber, breaking the fall for his allies.

Then, with a bounce, he returned to normal and stood tall.

Standing before the CP forces, the Special Science Group, and Sentomaru was none other than Monkey D. Luffy—at the head of a formidable force of notorious pirates: Zoro, Sanji, Kid, Killer, Bege, Hawkins, Cavendish, Don Chinjao, Sai, and more!

The infamous Straw Hat Grand Fleet had descended onto the battlefield.

Luffy stood front and center. One hand clenched into a fist against the ground, the other braced against his thigh. Steam hissed off his body—Second Third activated—his eyes burning with intensity.

With a bold grin, he declared:

"You're not getting past this point."
