One Piece: Transmigrated as Crocodile

CHAPTER 177 - Hathaway vs. Admiral Kizaru

While chaos erupted on Sasu Island, a devastating event unfolded on Landis Island, plunging the Landis warriors into despair. Queen Hathaway had led her troops back to the island for a brief respite after their failed offensive.

The main force had already retreated to the Ninth Garden and the Demon Land to form a defensive line, as these locations were crucial and could not afford any mishaps since they couldn't push forward for the time being.

Queen Hathaway did not return immediately because she was observing the situation along the coast. Today was also the day when the "Gourmet God" was supposed to deliver food, and she wanted to see if this legendary figure could still manage to bring supplies despite the naval blockade.

However, after waiting for a long time with no sign of the delivery, Hathaway grew increasingly disappointed and decided to withdraw her soldiers back into Landis. Her injuries were severe, and she would need time to recover. Fortunately, with the Demon Land secured, the Landis people wouldn't face food shortages or any major crises.

Unbeknownst to Hathaway, Admiral Kizaru was also on the island.

Boom!

A sudden, massive explosion erupted in the distance, sending a shockwave and a gust of hot wind. "What's going on? Are there other powerful beings on the island?" Hathaway frowned.

She couldn't recall any Landis warriors capable of causing such a massive explosion. Could it be a Marine or a pirate? Regardless, Landis was not welcoming any outsiders, except for the man who had brought them hope.

The warriors followed Hathaway toward the source of the explosion. In a valley, Admiral Kizaru stood alone. He extended his index finger, and a matrix of light particles gathered at his fingertip, condensing into a laser beam.

"What terrifying creatures. Piercing their hearts doesn't kill them; only destroying their heads works. And they lack intelligence—truly monsters," Kizaru remarked as he fired the laser, obliterating a swarm of zombies in a fiery explosion.

"More here? How annoying. This really isn't a pleasant task," Kizaru muttered, firing multiple lasers that caused a chain of explosions. The number of zombies meant nothing before him.

"Now, where is the leader of Landis? Is she as fearsome as the rumors say?" Kizaru spread his Observation Haki but found little due to the island's chaos and the overwhelming presence of undead creatures.

"Hmm? A disciplined unit is approaching? Their vigilance is impressive," Kizaru noted, sensing a group moving toward him from the left. The orderly aura of warriors was distinct from the chaotic energy of the zombies.

Kizaru turned to face the newcomers. Hathaway and her troops appeared, and her calm eyes instantly filled with tension upon seeing Kizaru—one of the Marine's top fighters. How could this be? The Marines had sent an admiral to Landis Island, clearly intent on wiping out the Landis people.

While Hathaway, who had connections with the outside world, knew of the Marine admirals, her soldiers did not. One warrior immediately shouted, "Marine, get out of Landis Island!"

"Ah, found you. You're the leader of Landis, right? You've caused significant losses to the Marines. Fleet Admiral Sengoku sent me to ask why you refuse the relocation offer," Kizaru asked lazily, not immediately taking action.

But Kizaru didn't realize that his question was like pouring salt on the wounds of the Landis people, who had just suffered a tragedy.

"All of you, retreat to the Ninth Garden," Hathaway coldly ordered, drawing her broken blade. She ignored Kizaru's question, seeing it as an insult to Landis. At least, that's how all the Landis warriors present perceived it.

Without hesitation, despite her injuries, Hathaway unleashed a devastating slash, sending a massive wave of sword energy toward Kizaru, carrying an overwhelming pressure that seemed to distort the heavens and earth.

"Unreasonable, huh? This is quite troublesome. Well, eliminating a dangerous element like you shouldn't be an issue," Kizaru said, still appearing nonchalant, though he acknowledged the attack's power.

No wonder the Landis had inflicted such heavy casualties on the Marines. There was no intention to negotiate, and based on the information provided by Eric, Kizaru concluded that the Landis people harbored deep hostility toward the Marines—likely irreparable, judging from the hatred in their eyes.

Mercy was reserved for those who could be tamed and were willing to comply with the Marines' arrangements. But these people clearly rejected the Marines, refused to explain what had happened, and attacked first. Kizaru wouldn't hold back.

But even if he understood, would the hatred dissipate? It seemed unlikely. The outcome wouldn't change.

Kizaru raised his index finger, and light particles gathered around him. At the critical moment, he fired a laser at the incoming sword energy.

Boom!

The collision created a destructive explosion, obliterating everything in the vicinity.

"My Queen, we..." Some soldiers noticed Hathaway's tension, but they were not afraid to die.

"This is an order," Hathaway said, her body wracked with pain, especially the wound in her abdomen. Sweat dripped from her forehead, but she wouldn't flee.

"Move!" The soldiers obeyed, retreating from the battlefield under their commander's lead. This battle was beyond their level. Even a single exchange made it clear how formidable the Marine admiral was.

Hathaway charged at Kizaru, her broken blade coated in Armament Haki. In an instant, she was before him, slashing at his neck.

"Ame no Habakiri," Kizaru said calmly, conjuring a glowing sword with a hilt from his palm. He parried Hathaway's strike, and the clash sent terrifying sword energy radiating outward like a hurricane, cutting through the surroundings and leaving deep cracks in the ground.

"Have you ever been kicked at the speed of light, Queen of Landis?" Kizaru asked, raising his golden leg and delivering a swift kick toward Hathaway.

"So fast!" Hathaway's heart sank. Even at her peak, she would have struggled to block such speed. The Marine admiral was this strong?!

In that critical moment, she barely managed to coat her body in Armament Haki but couldn't evade the attack. The kick sent her flying hundreds of meters away.

"Perhaps I went a bit overboard. But the Queen of Landis doesn't seem as strong as the reports suggested. Is it because of her injuries? What a pity," Kizaru mused, standing still and extending his index finger again.

Whoosh!

Several lasers shot toward where Hathaway had landed, followed by three massive explosions that engulfed the area within a kilometer.
