Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Taking Four at Once
Big Mom was generous, letting Kuke choose freely.
He could choose anyone.
When these words left her mouth, there was no objection from anyone.
To Katakuri and the others, this was only natural.
Kuke was someone who had earned that right.
Smoothie and the others sat on their seats, subtly showing off their long, elegant legs.
Galette's glistening eyes seemed filled with boundless allure as she gazed at Kuke.
Her short red dress accentuated her graceful curves, as if meant only for Kuke's eyes.
Charlotte Custard wore a deep violet jumpsuit, showcasing the most beautiful side of herself.
"Amande, have you really given up?" Several of Amande's sisters looked at her with anticipation.
They knew well enough.
They had no chance. They were not a match for him in any way.
"I..."
There was a flicker of hesitation in Amande's cold and melancholic eyes.
Unconsciously, she took a step forward.
What if he chose me?
Amande asked herself—would she be willing?
She wasn't hopeful, but that didn't mean she didn't want it.
"If you are willing, you can leave today," Big Mom declared, her eyes blazing.
In the midst of everyone's attention, Kuke slowly stood up.
Thud.
Smoothie and the others felt their hearts skip a beat.
Katakuri and the rest also felt their hearts race, a sense of an enormous presence pressing down on them like a towering mountain.
They watched as golden lightning crackled around Kuke.
Katakuri and the others tensed up, their entire bodies on edge. Though Kuke's gaze wasn't directed at them, they felt as though his cold and domineering gaze was bearing down on them, capable of taking their lives at any moment.
"Whoa..."
Hiding behind Katakuri, little Flampe was too overwhelmed to speak.
Katakuri suddenly remembered his young sister beside him and quickly attempted to unleash his Conqueror's Haki.
But as soon as he tried, Katakuri froze. His aura was instantly suppressed.
"Is the gap between us really this huge?" Katakuri was shaken.
Kuke wasn't even directing his Haki precisely at him, and still, he couldn't withstand it.
"Flampe, leave this place immediately," Katakuri shouted. He realized he couldn't protect her.
He called several times.
But there was no answer.
Katakuri looked back to see Flampe standing still, her eyes vacant. She wasn't unconscious, but she wasn't fully conscious either.
Thud.
All around, more people began to collapse, eyes rolling back.
Even some family members without sufficient strength started to drop, unable to endure Kuke's overwhelming Haki.
"Mama!" Perospero turned to Big Mom for help.
At this point, there was no option but for Mama to unleash her own Conqueror's Haki to counteract it.
But Big Mom remained unmoved.
She didn't seem to care that some of her children had fainted.
"Bunch of weaklings," Big Mom muttered disdainfully, glaring at the ones who had passed out.
She showed no intention of using her Conqueror's Haki.
In her mind, if she made a move now, after Kuke had held back, it would just prove that her subordinates were inferior to his.
That was not a face she could afford to lose.
Moreover, she didn't want to create too much friction with Kuke at this point. As long as he agreed to the alliance, a few unconscious members didn't matter.
Another thing was clear to Big Mom—the intensity of Kuke's Conqueror's Haki astonished her.
"Such power... it has physically affected the entire island." Big Mom knew her own Conqueror's Haki couldn't reach that level.
The entirety of Whole Cake Island seemed to bow under Kuke's presence.
Kuke's gaze swept across Smoothie, Galette, and the others.
Their hearts beat even faster.
There was anticipation, mixed with bashful glances cast at Kuke.
"Galette."
Kuke spoke her name.
Galette covered her mouth, her eyes brimming with excitement.
Me?
She couldn't help but step eagerly towards him.
"Galette?" said little Pudding, who was holding onto Galette's skirt.
She was pulled along as Galette moved forward.
"Galette, are you really leaving the family?" The four-year-old Pudding might not have understood much, but even she knew that Galette was leaving.
There was a sad, reluctant look in her eyes.
Galette was one of the few in the family who didn't dislike Pudding because of her three eyes.
"Pudding, even though I'm leaving, I promise you, from now on, no one in the family will ever dare bully you again," Galette said as she patted Pudding's head.
Pudding looked up at her, dazed.
"You don't need to comfort me, Galette." Pudding was more mature than her peers, understanding why she was treated poorly.
It was because Mama didn't like her.
And her mother's will was something no one in the family could change.
"This time it's not just comfort—because I'm about to follow Kuke." Galette showed a proud smile. She believed that if she spoke, her mother would certainly give her the face she wanted.
"Huh?"
Pudding glanced over at Kuke.
A completely unfamiliar man.
Her small mind was filled with questions. Why had so many people fainted when he stood up?
Why was Galette so happy?
Since she was standing by Galette's side, Pudding hadn't felt the effects of Kuke's Conqueror's Haki.
"It really seems like he isn't afraid of Mama," Pudding thought in amazement. She never imagined there could be anyone in the world who wasn't afraid of her mother.
Smoothie bit her lip.
She hadn't been chosen.
This outcome was hard for her to accept.
She looked at Galette with envy. What did she have that I don't?
Thinking of how she had cast aside her pride to try to please Kuke for the entire week, only to be passed over, Smoothie's normally cold and proud demeanor collapsed, and she hung her head in dejection.
Cracker looked at his sister Custard worriedly.
From his perspective...
His sister Custard was now deeply hurt.
Amande took a long drag from her cigarette.
She hadn't expected anything, yet she still felt a twinge of regret.
Big Mom's mouth split into a wide grin, revealing her sharp teeth.
Success.
The marriage alliance was a success.
Big Mom looked at Galette with envy—one of her own daughters.
Such luck.
"Smoothie."
Kuke spoke another name.
"Huh?"
In an instant, everyone stared at Kuke in shock.
"Me?" Smoothie asked, pointing at herself.
What was this?
He had chosen Galette, and now he had chosen her too?
What did this mean?
"Could it be..." Smoothie felt a mix of excitement, pride, and a little discontent.
Did he want both of them together?
Smoothie opened her mouth, instinctively wanting to refuse.
Her pride had never allowed her to imagine sharing a man.
In fact, she had never even thought of marrying anyone before.
But because of Kuke...
That had changed.
When Kuke called her name, she was stunned.
The words of refusal tried to come out several times, but they never succeeded.
"Custard."
Kuke spoke again.
Cracker's smile faded.
He wasn't smiling anymore.
He realized his sister Custard was being asked to join Galette and Smoothie as well?
This was too much.
Even if you were one of the Four Emperors, this was degrading for our sisters.
"Refuse him, sister," Cracker demanded angrily, urging her.
But Custard didn't say a word.
She didn't refuse.
Cracker was stunned.
Could this really be?
After selecting three women, Kuke paused for a moment.
Big Mom had thirty or forty daughters, with over twenty of them being of age.
The ones that Kuke was interested in were only a few, and after selecting the three, the only other one among the mature daughters that seemed worthwhile was Amande.
Kuke pondered for a moment.
Should he take Amande too?
He did have a fondness for Pudding as well. Her three eyes and her peculiar abilities that dealt with souls and memories were of great utility.
But she was too young.
Only four years old.
"Is Kuke planning to take all of us in one go?" Many of Big Mom's daughters didn't know whether to feel angry or hopeful.
Amande was experiencing the same conflicting emotions.
She thought highly of herself.
Among the family's women, she considered herself to be one of the strongest.
And yet, it seemed like she was being overlooked.
It was quite a blow to her.
After a pause, Kuke made up his mind.
He decided to take Amande.
There weren't many strong women left on the sea who hadn't yet been taken under someone's banner.
Amande was worth adding as a crewmate.
After speaking Amande's name, Kuke didn't call any others.
These four were the ones he wanted.
He had no interest in the others at the moment.
