Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Kizaru And Akainu

Marineford, entertainment district

Kizaru and Akainu were wandering aimlessly through the streets.

Both of them were dressed casually. Kizaru was wearing a yellow shirt, a white hooded cap, and brown sunglasses.

Akainu wore a red shirt. His exposed chest muscles were extremely intimidating, and his left chest was covered with tattoos made of rose petals.

He had a white Marine cap with a low brim on his head and a stern expression on his face; it gave him a gangster-like aura.

Compared to Akainu, Kizaru looked like a street kid.

Kizaru was peeling bananas in his hand. He looked at Akainu beside him and said:

"Sakazuki, it's a rare day off today, can't you be happy?"

Akainu slightly adjusted the brim of his cap, which almost completely covered his eyes, and said in a low voice:

"There are still a few sets of training I need to do today. I'll grab a quick meal afterward. When I get back, I'll continue training!"

Kizaru shrugged, finished the banana in three bites, and threw the peel on the ground.

Akainu frowned slightly. He bent down and picked up the banana peel. Then his hand turned crimson red and smoke began to rise. The banana peel turned to ash under the terrifying heat and scattered into the air.

"Porusalino, you should watch your image. Some people secretly call you Yellow Monkey."

Kizaru laughed as if he didn't take it seriously, but there was a golden light shining beneath the brown sunglasses.

"That's really rude, but it doesn't matter. We've always been treated like monsters anyway, we're used to it!"

While speaking, Kizaru clasped his hands behind his head and started walking faster.

Akainu, who was following behind, suddenly said:

"I taught them a lesson."

Kizaru stopped, slightly raised the corners of his mouth, and used a slightly exaggerated tone:

"Hey~ Saraski, you're a bit too angry... Did you use your powers?"

"If you had used your Devil Fruit powers, they wouldn't have beaten you."

"I didn't use them, and they couldn't beat me."

"..."

"Besides, I don't need to use my powers for those people."

Kizaru sighed heavily and ignored Akainu. He put his hands in his pockets and started whistling.

After walking silently for a while, the two of them finally stopped in front of a barbecue restaurant.

"Gulu~"

Kizaru suddenly turned his head and looked at Akainu, asking "in a confused manner":

"Sakazuki, did you hear some strange sounds?"

Akainu's face turned bright red. The sound clearly came from his stomach. Kizaru was trying to mess with him.

An inevitable path. Even though the food at school was good, it's not something you can eat every day!

Akainu looked at the tempting sign at the entrance of the barbecue restaurant, clenched his teeth, turned around, and walked away without saying a word.

"Hey, hey, don't go. I really want to eat barbecue today. If you eat with me just this once, I'll treat you!"

Akainu stopped and turned to look at Kizaru. At that moment, the scent of barbecue came from the shop. He twitched his nose and said in a deep voice:

"Fine, but don't eat too much. Teacher Zephyr said too much fat will affect your training!"

Kizaru held his forehead and sighed slightly, then helplessly waved his hands and said:

"Alright, alright, let's enjoy ourselves just this once, let's go!"

In a corner of the barbecue restaurant,

Kael and the others were sitting around a stove. Ginny was resting her chin in her hands, staring unblinkingly at the sizzling pork belly on the grill, and said with a pout:

"Brother Kael, how long will it take to cook? I'm already hungry!"

Kael smiled and teased her by tapping her smooth forehead with his fingers:

"Seems like you're really hungry! Look at the bear, how patiently he's waiting."

Hearing what Kael said, Berro scratched his head in embarrassment and said in a weak voice:

"Brother Kael, actually... I'm kind of hungry too..."

"...Alright, I should add a bit more charcoal. If it gets burned, don't blame me!"

Ginny rubbed her face against Kael's arm and said in a soft voice:

"I wouldn't blame Brother Kael. Even if the meat is really burned, I'd still eat it all!"

Kael chuckled a few times, and just as he was about to speak, a muffled voice came from the store's entrance:

"Boss! Got any seats left? I want a big portion of beef, fatty and large!"

The voice coming from behind was a bit muffled:

"Add two more bowls of white rice!"

"Sakazuki, you really have a weakness for rice."

Hearing Sakazuki's name, Kael paused and looked toward the door.

The waiter at the barbecue restaurant had already warmly welcomed them. Guided by the waiter, Kizaru and Akainu finally sat down next to Kael.

Kizaru sat down on the chair and stretched. He turned to Kael and asked with a smile:

"Hey, little brother, you keep looking at me. Do we know each other?"

Kael didn't try to hide it and replied with a smile:

"I'm sorry, that was rude. I just thought you had a unique aura, so I couldn't help but glance a few more times."

"Ahem..."

Akainu suddenly coughed twice and quietly raised his head to look at Kizaru.

Kizaru seemed very interested in Kael. He immediately skipped over the aura question and asked:

"You look a bit unfamiliar, brother. Are you new here?"

"Yes, we're here to join the army."

Hearing that Kael and the other three were here to join the army, Kizaru immediately pulled up a chair next to Kael. After sitting down, he began chatting warmly.

"What a coincidence. We might even be classmates. Let me introduce myself. My name is Porusalino, and that guy over there is Sakazuki."

Kael looked at Akainu, and Sakazuki gave a slight nod with a faint, stern smile on his face.

Kael smiled and said, "He introduced himself and the others briefly."

"I guess you two are our future seniors. Nice to meet you."

Kizaru waved his hand and said:

"What's so great about seniors? Both of us are kind of antisocial at school. You might want to stay away from us when you start~"

"Ah? Why's that? It's quite comfortable being around you two."

"Hey, they call us monsters at school. Who wants to hang out with monsters? We even had to huddle together to stay warm."

"Yeah?"

Kael used chopsticks to flip the meat slices on the stove and said in a soft voice:

"Maybe we'll turn out to be the same kind of people..."
