Chapter 15: The Heart Of Garmella
As the Thousand Sunny cut through the waves, nearing the island of Garmella, Kikidori was sitting at the deck, his legs crossed and his new sword resting beside him. The wind ruffled his hair, and the salty sea air filled his lungs. As he glanced around the ship, he noticed Robin sitting near the mast, flipping through a book, her calm presence offering a contrast to the energy of the rest of the crew.
Curious, Kikidori shuffled over and peeked at the book she was reading. It was a thick, leather-bound volume with the title "Culture and History of the Grand Line."
He reached out, his hand almost instinctively grabbing the book. "Hey, Robin," he said, "What's this?"
Robin looked up from her book and smiled. "Just some research about the places we visit. You might find it interesting."
Kikidori's eyes lit up. "Really?" He opened the book, flipping through the pages until he landed on a section labeled "Garmella." His eyes grew wide as he read aloud to himself.
"Garmella is a place known for its culture and its knowledge of the Cubala." Kikidori read, furrowing his brow. "Cubala? What's that?"
Robin, always the educator, leaned over and explained, "The Cubala is the heart of the Earth. It's a concept many civilizations have studied. The belief is that it holds the key to understanding the planet's creation, its energy, and why it exists as it does."
Kikidori's eyes grew even wider. "So... they know why the Earth is a thing?" he asked, his voice filled with awe.
"That's the legend, yes," Robin said, her voice as calm and collected as ever. "But it's more than just knowledge. It's about understanding the forces that shape the world around us."
Kikidori absorbed the information, his mind racing with possibilities. "That sounds amazing…"
Robin chuckled softly, clearly amused by Kikidori's genuine curiosity. "I'm sure you'll find it even more fascinating when we get there."
Kikidori nodded, already imagining the mysteries they might uncover. He closed the book and stood up, his gaze turning back toward the island, which was now coming into clearer view as the Sunny neared the shore.
Later, when the Straw Hat crew gathered to disembark, Kikidori walked up to Robin and handed her back her book.
"Thanks for letting me read it," Kikidori said, his tone polite but with an excitement bubbling beneath the surface.
Robin took the book with a soft smile. "You're welcome, Kikidori. It's good to see you so interested in history."
Kikidori grinned. "Of course! I wanna know everything, especially if it means I can be stronger!"
As the crew made their way off the ship and onto the busy streets of Garmella, Kikidori took a deep breath, feeling the pulse of the island's energy. It was different from the other places they had visited—there was something ancient and wise about Garmella, something that called to him.
As they walked, Kikidori couldn't help but look around at his crew, feeling a sense of warmth spread through him. He glanced at Robin, his thoughts briefly turning to his own mother. Though she had passed, he often thought of her wisdom and kindness. Robin reminded him of her—her calm demeanor, her grace. She was someone he could trust, just like he had trusted his mother.
And then there was Zoro, who acted like he didn't care about much, but Kikidori could see through that. Zoro was like a father to him—gruff on the outside but fiercely protective when it mattered. Kikidori chuckled quietly to himself. Zoro might not ever admit it, but Kikidori could tell.
And Chopper... Chopper was like a brother. The small reindeer doctor had a big heart, and Kikidori often thought about how lucky he was to have someone like Chopper around. They both had a lot to learn, but they were in it together.
"Hey, what's got you so deep in thought?" Usopp asked, walking over to Kikidori.
"Huh?" Kikidori snapped out of his thoughts, looking up at Usopp, who was grinning. "Oh, nothing! Just thinking about the adventure."
"Well, don't get too carried away," Usopp teased. "This place has a lot of history, but it can be dangerous too."
Kikidori nodded, his expression serious for a moment. "I'm ready."
They continued walking, the bustling market streets of Garmella welcoming them with a vibrant array of colors and sounds. The locals were friendly, and the smells of delicious food wafted through the air. The island felt alive with possibilities.
Kikidori couldn't wait to explore it all.
As they ventured deeper into the island, Robin stopped and looked back at the crew. "Let's make sure we gather all the information we can. This place could hold secrets we can use."
"Yeah!" Luffy cheered. "But first, food!"
Sanji grinned. "I'll make sure we're well-fed, captain!"
Kikidori smiled, looking up at the sky. He was part of this crew now. A crew that sailed toward adventure, uncovering the mysteries of the world, and maybe, just maybe, finding the answers they all sought.
No matter what, Kikidori was ready for the next step in his journey.
