"No problem. Bring it on, little Smoker."

Atlas had already sensed the change in the surrounding Marines' mood, and he, too, was curious about what kind of trump card Smoker was hiding. Could it be...

When Smoker heard Atlas accept the challenge, his face lit up with excitement before slowly calming down. He leaned forward into a fighting stance.

Seeing Smoker all tensed up, Atlas couldn't help but chuckle. "Careful now, little Smoker!"

When it came to battle, Atlas never held back. Especially since his opponent was Smoker, there was no need to go easy on the kid.

Plus, this would be a perfect chance to improve his mastery over Soru. Without hesitation, Atlas unleashed his full power.

The repeated stomps of his feet on the ground created a thunderous roar. His control over Soru was still rough...

BOOM!!

Another massive crater exploded into the training field. Captain Randall's face twisted with visible frustration again.

Atlas, however, didn't care—he was never one to worry about money.

Iron Fist: Bird Strike!

Without a sword in hand, Atlas used his fist to launch the technique. The terrifying speed of the punch created a sonic boom as it cut through the air.

Danger!!!

The moment Atlas threw the punch, every hair on Smoker's body stood on end. It felt like he was staring death in the face.

I'm gonna die! I'm gonna die!

A primal alarm rang in his head—and in the blink of an eye, Smoker's entire body turned into smoke, causing Atlas's punch to pass right through him.

"Oh? So you've already eaten a Devil Fruit, huh, little Smoker?"

Atlas now understood. No wonder Lieutenant Wright had that look on his face when Smoker came up in conversation.

"Oh!! Ohhh~!! It's the Logia-type Devil Fruit!!" The surrounding Marines burst into excited cheers.

"I only ate it not long ago…" Smoker scratched his head sheepishly. He had come across the fruit six months earlier during a mission.

While chasing pirates to a deserted island, he found it by chance. Had Atlas known this, he'd have coughed blood in frustration.

They were both chasing pirates, yet Smoker stumbled upon a Logia-type Devil Fruit while Atlas ended up wandering the East Blue.

The difference between people was sometimes greater than the gap between humans and pigs...

"Heads up, Atlas! I'm now a Logia-type user—the Smoke-Smoke Fruit." Smoker declared proudly.

In his mind, he was sure to win this fight. Since he got the fruit, no one had been able to hurt him—not even Captain Randall.

Poor Randall was probably crying in the bathroom at that point, getting shown up by two kids back-to-back.

Smoker had grown arrogant, understandably so. In the East Blue, where few knew how to use Haki, a Logia-type power essentially made one invincible.

"Alright then, little Smoker. I'm going all out now." Atlas warned with a smile. The moment the words left his mouth, he vanished.

Marine Six Powers—Soru.

To Atlas, it was like giving wings to a tiger. Smoker, with his amateur-level martial arts, had no way of tracking him, much less countering.

Iron Fist: Dragon Tail!

A sweeping punch came at a speed far beyond Smoker's reflexes. He couldn't block it in time and had no choice but to once again shift into smoke.

"This won't do, little Smoker."

Logia powers were broken, sure. In a world without Armament Haki, they were borderline invincible.

But full-body intangibility consumed stamina, and while that was negligible for those with strong physiques, for someone like Smoker, who was still weak, he wouldn't last long.

All he could do was become Atlas's moving target.

"White Fist!"

Two fists made of solidified white smoke shot toward Atlas. Atlas didn't flinch. He met them head-on, bare fists against smoke fists—simple, direct, overwhelming.

BANG!!

A direct clash shattered both of Smoker's smoke fists back into vapor!

Smoker frowned. He had been completely overpowered in terms of close combat. If he wanted to win, he'd have to rely solely on his Devil Fruit powers.

Time passed minute by minute. Smoker had turned his body into smoke several more times, but now his forehead was dotted with sweat.

His stamina was dropping fast. Atlas, on the other hand, looked calm as ever, not even breathing heavily. That gap discouraged Smoker.

"Man, those two kids are insanely strong!"

"Smoker looks like he's about to collapse…"

"Hey now, isn't Smoker's power supposed to be unbeatable?"

The surrounding Marines were in heated debate, some even on the verge of fighting. They hadn't expected such strength from two rookies.

Especially Atlas—he'd managed to push a Logia user to this extent using only martial arts.

Ever since it became common knowledge that the three Marine Monster Vice Admirals were Logia users, the world had started worshiping Logia Fruits.

And now here was Atlas, a purely physical fighter, shattering that myth before their eyes.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

A few more heavy blows rang out. Smoker clenched his trembling fists, a determined gleam in his eye.

"Be careful, Atlas! I'm about to use a newly developed ability—it's still a bit unstable."

"White Domain!"

As soon as he spoke, Smoker turned into smoke once more. A thick white fog erupted from his body, engulfing Atlas.

Visibility dropped to zero—even the watching Marines could no longer follow the fight.

Inside the fog, Atlas noticed his senses were being dulled. Even opening his eyes stung from the smoke.

Fine particles tried to slip into his nose with each breath. Alarmed, he slowed his breathing, closed his eyes, and relied on Observation Haki to sense Smoker's position.

Smoker had created this AOE smoke field to finish the fight quickly—he wouldn't be able to sustain it for long. All Atlas had to do was wait for his chance.

Suddenly, a fist silently approached Atlas's back. Smoker was aiming to land a sucker punch. But under Atlas's Observation Haki, nothing could escape.

As the punch entered his attack range, Atlas sidestepped and firmly grabbed Smoker's arm.

Smoker cried out in pain and instantly shifted to smoke again. This kind of hit-and-run tactic annoyed Atlas.

Without Armament Haki, he had no way to pin Smoker down—he could only wear down his stamina little by little.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The clashes continued. Smoker's strikes grew more desperate, but Atlas effortlessly parried all.

Eventually, Smoker's stamina hit rock bottom. Forced out of his smoke form, he collapsed onto the ground, completely drained.

Atlas, by contrast, looked almost untouched. Aside from a light sheen of sweat on his forehead, he was still composed and calm.

Smoker felt utterly defeated. Ever since he'd gotten the Smoke-Smoke Fruit, his missions had been a breeze.

Without Atlas around, none of his peers could beat him—not even Captain Randall, who had tried and failed.

That sense of invincibility had inflated his ego, and he'd grown addicted to the glory that came with being a Logia user.

Smoker had always admired Atlas and envied his talent. He knew Atlas's strength came from relentless training.

But as someone the same age, he couldn't help but feel a competitive pride.

So when Atlas returned, he challenged him right away, like a kid eager to show off a new toy to his big brother.

"Alright, Smoker. Snap out of it. Is your sense of justice really that shallow?" Atlas frowned slightly, trying to encourage him.

Smoker had decent potential. The Smoke-Smoke Fruit was a powerful Logia-type with huge potential.

It wasn't weak like the anime from Atlas's past life had portrayed—it was just that Smoker had developed it poorly.

If he kept going down this path, he might waste his power, and his physical aptitude wasn't bad either.

The problem was that once he got the Fruit, he grew too reliant on its power and stopped training his body.

As a result, he fell into a rut—neither excelling at fruit mastery nor physical combat. The most absurd part?

He was already over 30 and hadn't mastered a single form of Haki. He was essentially disqualified from competing with top-tier fighters.

"Listen, Smoker. You've gone down the wrong path."

The words jolted Smoker out of his gloom. He looked up with a flash of defiance in his eyes.

Yeah, Atlas might be stronger now, but that's just because I haven't developed my powers yet. Once I do, I'll surpass him!

Atlas stared at Smoker's stubborn gaze and replied bluntly: "I know what you're thinking—you believe that once you master your fruit, you'll be able to beat me."

Smoker froze but said nothing, still clinging to that belief. "If you keep thinking like that, you'll never catch up to me."

"You have to understand something—on this brutal sea, no top-tier fighter has ever reached the peak relying only on their Devil Fruit powers."
