Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Luffy vs. Teach
Luffy watched as Teach charged toward him, mouth wide open. His expression turned into one of exaggerated surprise, and then, shockingly, he mimicked Teach by opening his mouth even wider—so wide that it outdid Teach's grotesque maw.
With a spring off his feet, Luffy dashed straight at Teach, their gaping mouths on a direct collision course.
"Gomu Gomu no Big Swallow!"
Luffy's jaw expanded massively as he approached. Teach froze in disbelief. He could have opened his mouth even wider, but by the time he realized it, it was already too late.
Before everyone's stunned eyes, Teach's head disappeared into Luffy's enormous mouth.
However, Luffy didn't swallow him. He simply held Teach in his mouth, blinking a few times as if testing how it felt. Then, he began shaking his head vigorously, thrashing Teach back and forth like a rag doll. The squelching sounds of saliva and muffled groans of pain left no doubt about Teach's suffering.
The Revolutionary Army erupted into cheers at the sight. Gildeo, the first to react, shouted,
"Well done!" His enthusiasm spread like wildfire, and soon, everyone was cheering Luffy's name.
To them, Luffy wasn't just a pirate. He was their own, the beloved son of their leader, Dragon.
Even Lindbergh, who had lost his fighting spirit earlier, was rejuvenated. In a flash, he darted in front of Burgess and the others, silver lightning crackling from his claws as he glared them down.
Burgess, seemingly forgetting how Lindbergh had blasted him away moments ago, clenched his massive fists, ready to retaliate.
But before anyone could move, Luffy suddenly spat with a loud "Ptooey!"—a massive, saliva-soaked blob flying out of his mouth and hitting the ground. It was Teach, rolled into a sticky ball.
Teach tumbled across the battlefield before coming to a stop. He staggered to his feet, drenched in Luffy's saliva, and wobbling like a drunk.
Pointing at the bedraggled Teach, Luffy laughed heartily. But midway through his laughter, his face turned serious, his expression hardening as if he had transformed into a different person.
Lowering his head, he muttered in a deep, resonant voice, "Time is running out. Let's finish this quickly."
For a moment, silence hung in the air. When Luffy raised his head again, his eyes blazed with golden light, twin suns burning with an intensity that froze Teach in his tracks.
Teach snapped out of his daze, gulping nervously as he stared at the distorted air surrounding Luffy. His expression turned grave.
Boom!
Shockwaves gathered around Teach's fists once more. Seeing this, Gildeo's eyes widened, and he glanced at Lindbergh and the frozen Ahiru nearby.
"Luffy! Ahiru and the others…"
Before Gildeo could finish his sentence, the ground beneath Ahiru and the frozen Revolutionaries rippled, releasing a fluid that wrapped around them like a cocoon.
Far away, Luffy retracted his gaze and refocused on Teach. Slowly, he raised his right hand, now coated in haki, with red and black lightning crackling fiercely around it.
The air itself seemed to bow under the weight of his attack. As he clenched his enlarged fist, the gathered lightning condensed into a single, pulsating mass.
Teach's fists vibrated with intensified shockwaves, the air around them cracking like shattered glass.
The ground trembled as the two forces prepared to collide.
Luffy, his body trembling in the fierce winds, felt a pang of sorrow as tears rolled down his cheeks. In that moment, memories of his father flashed in his mind. In this timeline, unlike the original, Luffy and Dragon shared a close bond.
The brief distraction was all Teach needed. With a roar, he slammed his quake-powered fist into the air.
Crack!
Spiderweb-like fissures expanded outward, sending a destructive shockwave barreling toward Luffy.
But Luffy wasn't one to back down. Dragging his oversized fist, he swung it forward with all his might.
BOOM!
The moment fist met shockwave, an earth-shattering explosion erupted. The rubbery ground rippled like waves, throwing everyone off balance.
At the center of the clash, Teach struggled to hold his ground, beads of sweat pouring down his face. His fists, though reinforced by the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, flickered with instability.
The strain of wielding such destructive power was evident. While the Tremor-Tremor Fruit granted unparalleled offensive capabilities, it came at a heavy cost to the user's body.
For most, even a single use would result in internal injuries. Teach's ability to sustain it at this level was a testament to his endurance.
But today, he faced Luffy, wielder of the Human-Human Fruit, Model: Nika. Its elasticity and resilience were a perfect counter to Teach's tremors.
Slowly but surely, Luffy pushed through the shockwaves, closing in on Teach.
The massive fist struck Teach square in the chest, sending him flying like a broken kite. He crashed to the ground in a heap, his body sprawled in the classic "defeated villain" pose.
Teach's eyes rolled back, and several of his teeth—what little remained—were knocked loose.
"Captain!"
Nearby, Van Augur and Burgess exchanged grim looks. Lafitte didn't hesitate. Spreading his wings, he soared toward the unconscious Teach.
Lindbergh, ready to finish off the Blackbeard Pirates, was interrupted by the Revolutionaries' alarmed cries.
"Luffy!"
He spun around, only to see Luffy lying motionless on the ground, his body withered and shrunken like that of an old man.
Seeing this, Lindbergh abandoned his pursuit of Teach's crew and rushed to Luffy's side.
Meanwhile, Lafitte managed to retrieve Teach and bring him to the waiting ship. Poison-blighted Doc Q fed his dying horse a strange apple, transforming it into a powerful steed that bolted away, carrying the Blackbeard Pirates to safety.
