One Piece Solar Rift Conqueror!

Chapter 28: Chapter 28 : Battle of treasures

The smoke clung heavy with the odor of gunpowder and smoke, the Marine camp in chaos from the surprise attack. The alarms continued to wail, and the frightened shouts of Marines echoed through the outpost as Solian, Kael, and Jorin stood alone in the treasury hall, surrounded by jewels, gold, and heaps of beri.

They weren't alone, however.

Lieutenant Roderick stood in the doorway, sword uplifted, eyes burning with fury. Behind him, the Marines advanced, at least a hundred strong, swords readied.

"You filthy thieves," Roderick growled, his grip on his sword tightening. "You think you can just come in here, steal from the Marines, and take off?"

Kael cracked his knuckles. "Yeah, pretty much."

Jorin winked, spinning his sword. "Don't make it personal. We're strapped for cash.".

Roderick's eyes twitched. "Then you're leaving here in a body bag."

With a furious battle cry, he charged at Solian, sword flashing under the torchlight. At the same time, the 100 Marines stormed forward, surrounding Kael and Jorin.

Jorin and Kael vs. 100 Marines

As the horde of Marines descended upon them, Jorin and Kael moved like a storm.

Jorin's silver blade was a blur of movement, each strike planned. His Edge-Edge Fruit made each strike razor-sharp, slicing armor and swords as if paper.

A Marine slashed his saber—Jorin dodged aside and sliced his arm off cleanly.

Another attacked from behind. Jorin didn't even turn around before swinging back, his blade extending in mid-air and slicing the Marine across the chest.

His power allowed him to stretch and curve his sword's edges into long, sweeping arcs, making it nearly impossible to deflect or predict his attacks.

SHING!

Three additional Marines fell, blood staining their uniforms.

Meanwhile, Kael was a one-man demolition crew.

A group of five Marines advanced on him, rifles aimed.

BANG! BANG!

Kael didn't dodge. Instead, he curled up his fist—

BOOM!

A shockwave erupted from his body, vaporizing the bullets out of mid-air and propelling the Marines backward.

One of the poor soldiers edged in too far—Kael pinned him to the collar and hit him with a chest shot.

CRACK!

The Impact Shock Fruit let him store up kinetic energy into his punches, and when he punched—the kinetic energy released when it hit something.

The Marine went straight into a wall and crashed immediately.

More soldiers stormed from all directions, but Kael fought like an enraged monster.

One of the Marines drew a baton—Kael deflected it halfway through the swing and splintered it in his hand.

Another drew a dagger for his shoulder—Kael twirled, elbowing him in the gut with a shockwave blow, sending him crashing through the room.

"Come on!" Kael roared. "You call yourselves Marines?"

The soldiers faltered. This was no standard pirate attack. These were beasts.

Jorin laughed, wiping his blade. "Regret enlisting yet?"

A snarl of a commander pushed to the front. "You bastards! Don't disappoint me! They're only three men—surround them!"

Solian vs. Lieutenant Roderick

While his fellow warriors held the horde of soldiers at bay, Solian focused on Roderick.

The Marine Lieutenant was no dimwit.

Roderick advanced hastily, slashing his sword with skilled vigor. Solian danced to the left, avoiding a stroke that would have cut into his ribs.

CLANG!

Solian retaliated, his fists igniting in flames. He punched forward—but Roderick blocked with his blade, barely flinching.

The Marine grinned. "You're quick, but not quick enough."

He stomped the ground. The earth beneath Solian cracked and collapsed!

Solian's eyes widened—he was falling into a pit!

"Damn," he muttered, realizing what had happened. This guy had a Devil Fruit.

The Crater-Crater Fruit.

Roderick could cave the ground in, creating instant pitfalls and uneven terrain to trap his foes.

Solian fell—but for a moment.

A portal blazed beneath him.

He reappeared just behind Roderick, fist raised.

"Solar Strike!"

His fiery punch struck Roderick's back—but the Marine spun aside just in time, absorbing the blow on his sword.

BOOM!

The shockwaves toppled treasure crates in the vicinity.

Roderick gritted his teeth, coughing. That had hurt.

"You bastard…" he muttered.

Solian cracked his knuckles. He was starting to enjoy this fight.

"Come on, Lieutenant," he smirked. "You're supposed to be a Marine. Is that all you've got?"

Roderick growled and slammed his hand on the ground.

The floor beneath Solian caved in again!

But this time, Solian was ready.

He flickered—and an afterimage was left behind.

Solar Afterimage.

Roderick's eyes widened. It was a fake!

Solian appeared above him, charging a new move.

"Plasma Strike."

His hand was aglow, brighter than ever. The heat was atrocious, crackling with raw power.

BOOM!

He punched his fist into Roderick's chest, the raw power sending the Marine crashing through the burning treasury doors.

Roderick rolled, crashing into wreckage and rubble. His coat was charred, his body shaking.

He didn't stand.

Solian let out a breath, shaking off the surplus plasma power. "Guess that settles that."

Victory & The Escape

Jorin and Kael had cleared out the last of the Marines in the treasury. The few that lived were stragglers, unconscious, or cowering too much to put up a fight.

Kael wiped his brow with a grubby arm. "That was fun."

Jorin stared at the body of the deceased Lieutenant. "You killed it slowly enough."

Solian smiled. "Piloted something new."

There being no further threat, they turned their minds to their real objective—the treasure.

Through Solian's gates, they lifted the final of the chests onto their ship.

Kael whistled. "So how much did we make?"

Jorin smiled, catching a coin with the back of his hand. "By my count? 60 million berries."

Kael grinned. "Now that's a payday."

Solian watched the Marine base erupting in flames. They had won here. But this was only the beginning.

The Marines would not soon forget this.

And soon, they would be legends across the seas.
