Chapter 69: Ch 69. Submit or Not, Breaking through the Surface

This wasn't over yet—Roman was still chanting.

"Bakudō #62 – Hyapporankan! (Hundred Steps Balustrade)"

A single glowing rod split into a hundred beams of light, piercing directly into the sea dragon's massive body.

"Bakudō #63 – Sajō Sabaku! (Ethereal Binding Chain)"

Another glowing band took shape, transforming into a thick, snake-like chain that wrapped around the sea dragon, making its every movement a labor of agony.

Bakudō 61, Bakudō 62, Bakudō 63—one after another, each high-level binding spell was unleashed by Roman, directly restraining the sea dragon.

A triple-layered lockdown—its speed was reduced to the absolute minimum!

"What is this sorcery?! How did you manage to bind me?!"

Despite having lived for who knows how many millennia, the ten-thousand-meter sea dragon had never encountered such a force as Roman's before.

To it, Roman was becoming even more terrifying as time went by.

"I'll ask you one more time—submit, or not?"

Roman's voice echoed through the deep sea, heavy and oppressive.

The sea dragon's eyes turned bloodshot.

"Never! I will never bow to a human!"

With a thunderous roar, the sea dragon tore through all the glowing bindings. They shattered like fragile glass, dispersing into star-like specks that vanished into the deep sea. Its powerful tail lashed out, propelling it straight at Roman.

"Too slow. I already saw that attack coming."

With a calm step and a subtle twist of his body, Roman activated his peak Observation Haki, dodging effortlessly—his body brushing past the dragon's armored scales without resistance.

"If you refuse to submit, then I'll beat you until you do. I've always had absolute confidence in my strength."

Roman said no more. The Armament Haki enveloping his body grew denser—its dark hue like ink, darker than even the depths of the sea.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

In the abyss, Roman clashed fiercely with the colossal ten-kilometer-long sea dragon.

On Fishman Island, King Neptune and Princess Shirahoshi stared upward in anxious awe.

At times, the sea dragon's enormous tail would sweep past the borders of the island's protective bubble, causing everyone's hearts to leap into their throats.

"It's already been ten minutes… I wonder how White Dove is doing…"

Neptune was filled with worry, but there was nothing he could do to assist Roman in that domain.

Shirahoshi tried using her powers to call more Sea Kings for aid, but the battle's sheer intensity had scared off any creature with the ability to sense it.

Only lesser, instinct-driven creatures remained nearby.

With hands clasped together, Shirahoshi could only pray for Roman's safety.

In the depths of the sea, Roman's battle raged on.

Though the deep sea rapidly drained his stamina, he felt he could still last another day or two—more than enough time to deal with the raging sea dragon.

Meanwhile, the sea dragon itself grew more and more uneasy. Roman's power was simply overwhelming!

The secret lay in Roman's peak Armament Haki, providing him with astonishing force. That, and his indomitable will, allowed him to fight the sea dragon to a draw.

The sea churned with ferocious turbulence.

Mid-battle, Roman even encountered several coated pirate ships trying to approach Fishman Island.

None of them lasted more than a few strikes before being sent fleeing by Roman.

Above the ocean, storm waves surged.

Each wave, higher than the last, some towering over fifty meters high!

These abnormal oceanic phenomena soon reached Marineford.

In his office, Fleet Admiral Sengoku—who was currently strategizing against the Four Emperors—sensed the roaring waves.

"Report, Fleet Admiral! A series of massive whirlpools and tidal waves have appeared near Marineford. Awaiting your orders!"

Just beyond Marineford lay the Holy Land, Marie Geoise.

Beneath that—Fishman Island.

After Roman departed Fishman Island, he had traveled through the deep sea, eventually reaching waters directly beneath Marineford, causing the current catastrophe.

"Send Kuzan to deal with it."

"Yes, Fleet Admiral!"

Following Sengoku's orders, Admiral Aokiji arrived at Marineford's harbor.

Among all the Admirals, his abilities were the most suited for this situation.

He leapt high into the air from the docks and shouted:

"Ice Age!"

Frigid cold burst from Aokiji's body, freezing everything in its path.

In an instant, the towering waves turned into massive ice walls—the ocean transformed into a frozen domain. Under the sun, it gleamed like a glittering wonderland.

But just as Aokiji exhaled a breath of relief…

A new surge of overwhelming power erupted from the depths below! Waves of pressure crashed into the frozen sea. In under a few minutes, the massive ice sheets shattered into fragments.

And once again, a storm of even higher waves rolled over the ocean's surface. Aokiji narrowed his eyes, brows furrowed deeply. Unwilling to yield, he raised his hands once more.

"Ice Age!"

This time, he unleashed his full strength—an absolute freeze spreading across the entire sea. The seas turned to glassy ice, sparkling beneath the sun. But once again, before Aokiji could relax, the ice began melting again, at an alarming speed…

Deep in the ocean trench—

Roman had grown tired of toying with the sea dragon.

"I'll ask one last time—will you become my mount?"

From within his Susanoo, he used Voice of All Things to speak directly to the sea dragon's mind.

"I will never submit to a creature weaker than myself. But… if you can defeat me, I will be your mount. Fail—and you will die. And not just you—every creature on that island above will also be devoured."

The sea dragon's angry roar echoed in Roman's soul.

But Roman could sense it—the dragon's resolve had changed. From "I'd rather die" to "defeat me, and I'll yield." The mighty beast was starting to bend.

"You said it. Then I won't hold back!"

As Roman spoke, Ryūjin Jakka materialized in his hand. Simultaneously, he used the power of the Illusion-Illusion Fruit to equip his Susanoo with the same blade.

"All Things in the Universe, Turn to Ashes—Ryūjin Jakka!"

As the words left his mouth, the sword burst into brilliant flames, brighter than ever before. The surrounding sea instantly burned crimson. Waves of scorching heat rolled outward, churning the deep like boiling chicken soup.

Countless lesser sea creatures, scorched by the burning ocean, broke through the surface in droves.

In an instant—

The entire deep sea was set ablaze.
