One Piece: Rinnegan Is My Golden Finger.

Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Mero Mero Awakening.

The unusual movement of Hancock's hair caught Chiga's attention. Not just him—Granny Nyon also stared at Hancock's hair in surprise.

Her thick, long black hair slowly separated into nine strands, resembling nine black snakes.

Chiga frowned as he observed the snake-like strands. He couldn't immediately tell what was happening, but he sensed a familiar fluctuation from those nine "snakes."

Hancock, unaware of the changes in her hair, saw Chiga's sudden frown and mistakenly believed he had noticed her emotional vulnerability—and was displeased by it.

Panic seized Hancock. At that moment, her heart was entirely devoted to Chiga. If he were to despise her, that would be more terrifying than death.

An image of Chiga glaring at her with disgust flashed through her mind, causing a suffocating sense of dread. Her face turned pale as paper.

As expected of Hancock—the queen of overthinking—Chiga's subtle change in expression led her to imagine the worst possible outcome.

Chiga was startled by her sudden transformation. Just moments ago, she had seemed fine. Now, she looked like she was on the verge of collapse.

He rushed forward, placed his hands on her shoulders, gave her a light shake, and asked urgently, "Hancock! What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell again?"

Hancock stared blankly at him, her expression eerily vacant—like a lifeless puppet. She mumbled, "Chiga-sama… please don't despise me. It's… my fault…"

Chiga was completely baffled. When had he ever said he despised her?

He really couldn't keep up with Hancock's thought process. Just as he was about to reply, her nine floating snake-like strands of hair transformed again.

They darkened to a deep purple, and no longer just resembled snakes—they became nine small, living serpents. A faint hissing sound escaped from their mouths.

Not only that—Hancock herself began to change.

A golden, crown-like ornament appeared on her forehead, and her pupils turned into deep purple slits, sinister yet alluring.

A pink cloud-like ribbon floated around her body, forming a heart shape behind her.

Granny Nyon, hovering behind her, was completely stunned. She gasped audibly, causing all nine snakes to snap their heads toward her.

Under their cold stare, a chill crept up Granny Nyon's spine. Before she could avert her gaze, her body was petrified again—turned to stone, her expression frozen in terror.

The snakes then turned their heads toward Chiga, seemingly ready to do the same to him.

But Chiga snorted coldly. A powerful purple light erupted from his Rinnegan. The nine serpents recoiled instantly, as if struck by lightning, their heads drooping—no longer arrogant.

Unlike the serpents, Hancock remained dazed, unaware of what had just happened.

Chiga stared into her eyes and released a light mental pulse through his Rinnegan. Hancock trembled, and gradually, her expression softened.

Blinking back to awareness, Hancock finally noticed the transformation in her body. She caught sight of her snake-hair and leapt up in shock.

Her sudden movement caused her to bump into Granny Nyon, still behind her—though now turned to stone again.

Hancock let out a cry of pain, then turned around and gasped. She quickly dispelled the petrification.

Granny Nyon, back to normal, looked at Hancock in horror. She flailed midair for a moment before crashing down onto the bed.

Seeing this, Chiga released his Deva Path ability, allowing her to land safely. The old woman wasted no time—she grabbed her cane, hopped off the bed, and bolted out of the room without another word.

Being turned to stone twice in one day by Hancock was enough. A third time? Her old bones couldn't take it.

Now only Chiga and Hancock remained.

Chiga reached out and gently pinched one of the snake-heads formed from her hair, inspecting it before turning to Hancock with a helpless look.

"What was that about earlier? Saying you didn't want me to despise you… When did I ever say I despised you? Could you please stop imagining things?"

Hancock let out a pair of embarrassed whimpers. She knew she had overreacted—but she couldn't help it. Chiga was just too important to her. Losing him was a consequence she couldn't accept.

After giving her a mild scolding, Chiga turned his attention to the changes in her body.

He had already guessed the reason behind her transformation—it had to be the awakening of the Mero Mero no Mi.

Or rather, perhaps it shouldn't even be called that anymore. This form clearly went beyond what a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit should exhibit. It resembled a Mythical Zoan awakening.

Based on Hancock's new form, the fruit's true name might be:

Mythical Zoan-type – Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Medusa.

Chiga wasn't surprised. After all, the Gomu Gomu no Mi had turned out to be the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika.

He had even joked before—if Luffy could become Nika, then maybe Robin's Hana Hana no Mi would awaken into a Thousand-Armed Kannon.

He also remembered the fruit's appearance—it was cherry-shaped, but with a strange twist. It consisted of two heart-shaped cherries—one pink, one deep purple.

Judging from Hancock's powers, the pink half likely symbolized the classic heart-shaped petrification effect of the Mero Mero no Mi.

The deep purple one, however, must be what granted her the terrifying Medusa transformation.

No wonder Blackbeard had gone to such extremes—even clashing with the Marines—to try and take Hancock's fruit.

That guy had known all along. The Mero Mero no Mi was no ordinary fruit. It was a god-tier Devil Fruit.

Say what you will about Blackbeard's morals—but never question his eye for powerful abilities.
