Chapter 27: Chapter 27 : Jaya Island, Munch-Munch Fruit?
A day later, Jaya Island.
The port was shrouded in gunpowder smoke.
The aftermath of battle was evident—traces of combat littered the sea surface, and the air reeked of blood.
A large pirate ship lay in ruins, its hull torn apart, mast broken, and deck crumbled into a mess.
Scattered across the deck were the bodies of pirates—lifeless, their expressions frozen in terror.
"I really don't have long eyes..."
With one hand resting on her waist and the other gripping a long sword at her side, Simon sneered. "A group of fools who've just stepped into 'Paradise' don't know their place and dare to provoke my mother with such weak strength!"
At her feet, she crushed the lifeless body of a pirate, the moisture drained from it, leaving a husk of fear and death.
Holding two sickle-shaped weapons in both hands, she continued, "The sea is vast, and there will always be those who overestimate themselves, thinking they can reach the heavens!"
Stron, standing nearby, shrugged and smiled. "Your charm, Simon, is undeniable. Aha~~~"
"Fenago, the 'Sickle' with a bounty of 5,500 Berry, was taken down just like that!"
"Sir Simon is truly incredible. She defeated the Fenago Pirates single-handedly!"
"I didn't expect to encounter such fools when coming to Gaya Island—moles daring to challenge Lord Simon..."
"But at least we gained something. There should be about 20 to 30 million Berry here..."
Pirates and Homiz soldiers from the BIG-MOM pirate group were looting the enemy ship.
They hauled supplies—food, weapons, ammunition—and piled them alongside a large hoard of gold jewelry and stacks of Bailey notes, gleaming under the sun.
"So-so..."
From her flagship, Smoothie stepped forward.
She had remained detached from the battle, allowing Simon to handle the situation alone.
The treasures didn't excite her; they held no real value in her eyes.
"Master Smoothie, Master Wilhelm... I found this in the room of the pirate captain Fenago the Scythe!"
One of the soldiers handed over a folded, slightly tattered piece of paper—clearly a bounty poster.
It had Wilhelm's image printed on it, a calm and confident gaze capturing attention. The reward, unmistakably bold, read: 200 Million Berries.
A pirate rushed out of the cabin, his face full of excitement.
In his hands, he held a wooden box, which he loudly proclaimed like offering a treasure: "It's a Devil Fruit!"
"Oh?" Wilhelm, who was surveying the terrain of Jaya Island and occasionally glancing at the blue sky, turned back with surprise.
Smoothie, Strong, and Simon were also drawn to the commotion, their eyes widening in astonishment.
It seemed none of them had expected to find something so valuable.
The crew member opened the box, revealing a Devil Fruit lying quietly inside.
Its entire body was purple-black, covered in strange spiral patterns, shaped like a piranha.
"Whizz…"
Before anyone could react, the fruit in the box vanished into thin air.
Moments later, it reappeared directly in Wilhelm's hands, almost causing him to scream in surprise.
He stared at the Devil Fruit with disbelief and chuckled softly: "I didn't expect it to be this one. How interesting!"
"Wilhelm, do you know it?"
"What kind of fruit is this?"
Smoothie, Simon, and the others turned to Wilhelm, their curiosity piqued.
The BIG-MOM pirate group possessed a Devil Fruit illustrated book, and Wilhelm had even taken the time to read it. So, chances were, he recognized it.
For a moment, everyone watched him with anticipation.
"Paramecia Munch-Munch Fruit. Once eaten, you can consume anything, turning it into part of your body or synthesizing new things—like steel, guns, and more…"
Wilhelm's figure flickered as he moved directly in front of Smoothie and the others, paying little attention to the others.
"Sister Strong, do you want to eat it?"
Wilhelm smiled and looked at Strong. "The ability users of the Munch-Munch Fruit not only gain the power to consume anything endlessly, but they can even eat themselves to make themselves thinner!"
Hearing this, Strong, who was tempted at first, instantly lost interest.
With a disgusted expression, she flatly refused.
"Don't eat yourself? It's disgusting!"
Strong frowned, her face showing clear disgust.
Mainly because she had heard about Wilhelm's abilities before—specifically, his Paramecia ability to transfer fruit.
Additionally, the bond between Wilhelm and the three sisters was much closer than with the other Charlotte siblings.
So, it wasn't too surprising for them to consider more suitable abilities for him.
Naturally, the Munch-Munch Fruit wasn't going to be chosen.
"Munch-Munch Fruit is indeed a powerful ability," Wilhelm nodded with a smile, "but its use is quite specialized."
"It allows for the fusion of various metals to create a unique alloy, strong enough to attract scientists from all over the world."
"Not to mention the wealth it could bring. Just creating that special alloy alone will ensure a steady stream of resources and riches for our BIG-MOM Pirates!"
If Wilhelm hadn't already consumed a Devil Fruit, he might have seriously considered the Munch-Munch Fruit.
However, it simply didn't suit Smoothie and Strong.
"Is that so?"
Stretching her arms lazily, Smoothie's curves, gradually becoming more pronounced, were clearly on display.
She let out a soft laugh. "That's quite a reward!"
"You did well, these are your rewards!"
Simon, tall and elegant, approached smoothly, her sharp gaze moving across the treasures.
She casually patted the pirate who had found the Devil Fruit, her tone filled with approval.
With a swift motion, she picked up a pile of jewels from the ground and handed them directly to him as a reward.
"Yes, thank you, Lord Simon!"
The pirate grinned, his face beaming with joy as he clutched the heavy treasures tightly.
Around him, other pirates watched with envious, jealous, and regretful expressions.
If only they had found those treasures first, perhaps Lord Simon would have rewarded them as well.
