One Piece: My Crew Members Are Legendary 3D Heroines

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: The Imitator

After securing his protective gear, Ethan Chen pointed directly at the tall marine who had spoken earlier. He crooked a finger, signaling him to step forward.

The marine stood over two meters tall, muscles bulging under his uniform. In comparison, Ethan, standing just over 1.8 meters with a lean but well-trained frame, seemed outmatched at first glance.

But this was not a world where size and muscle directly equaled strength.

With two points already invested in physical mastery, and a body surging with energy from a satisfying breakfast, Ethan had absolute confidence he could take the man on and win.

This wasn't just a sparring match. It was a test a chance to prove his worth and earn the legal right to sail.

"Me?" the tall marine pointed to himself, then grinned and stepped forward without hesitation.

"Then I won't hold back," he said.

He didn't wait for an official start. With a roar, he swung a fist as big as a soup pot, aiming straight for Ethan's face, the force of the punch whistling through the air.

He wasn't pulling any punches.

This was a fist fueled by pent-up frustration rumors had already spread. Since the night before, whispers swirled that this pretty boy had gone into Commander Tashigi's cabin at dusk and hadn't come out until morning.

That rumor alone had set off a silent explosion aboard the ship.

By dawn, nearly every marine's eyes were bloodshot with fury.

Ethan had become the target of a silent, seething hatred.

Most didn't dare act out, not openly not under Tashigi's watchful authority. At best, they could throw in a few mocking jabs, maybe snicker behind his back.

But now that they had an opening, how could they not seize the chance to unload?

This punch? It was meant to smash Ethan's smug face into paste.

Ethan saw the incoming punch clearly. The fist was fast, sharp it wouldn't be out of place in a heavyweight championship back in his old world.

Once upon a time, he wouldn't have stood a chance of dodging it.

But not anymore.

Now, it felt like time had slowed.

No it wasn't that the punch was slower. He was faster.

His reflexes, sharpened by system enhancements, gave him ample time to decide.

Should he dodge? Block? Counter?

Then he saw it: an opening in the marine's stance. Wide, obvious. The decision made itself.

Move with intent Iron Shoulder Strike!

Ethan lunged forward in a low stance, dropped his shoulder, and unleashed the force of his whole body.

Boom!

A muffled thud echoed across the dock.

In the blink of an eye, the grinning marine was sent flying, crashing into the sea with a massive splash.

Gasps echoed through the ranks. The marines stared, stunned. Was it over already?

Even Tashigi and 2B were caught off guard. They'd been preparing to step in if Ethan couldn't defend himself. Clearly, that wouldn't be necessary.

But no one was more shocked than Ethan himself.

He hadn't expected the move to be so powerful.

All he'd done was follow a hunch his body had executed the technique like it had rehearsed it thousands of times. Every motion flowed seamlessly: the step, the twist, the drop of his shoulder, and the explosive release of force.

It was as if he had mastered the move in an instant.

"Get him out of the water!"

The shout jolted Ethan from his daze.

A group of marines dove into the sea to pull the unconscious, bleeding soldier from the water.

The ship's medic examined him and declared that, aside from blunt trauma-induced unconsciousness, he was fine.

For a marine, it was nothing serious. Just another day in the life.

"Well done," Tashigi praised. "Where'd you learn that move? I've never seen it before."

"Online. Some guy called 'Xiao Heizi' posted it in a video," Ethan replied.

As a netizen raised on short-form videos, few moves were more iconic or addictive than the Iron Shoulder Strike.

If he wanted to, Ethan could probably throw together a full montage of viral moves right there on the dock.

He was starting to suspect that first mastery point he spent gave him more than physical strength it gave him the ability to learn techniques just by watching them.

Kind of like Taskmaster from Marvel.

A mimic fighter. Learn by seeing, skip the hard training.

Pretty convenient, all things considered.

"What?" Tashigi raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing," Ethan shrugged. "So, does that count as passing?"

"You'll last long enough not to be butchered by third-rate pirates, at least."

"So you mean-?"

"You, step forward," Tashigi pointed to a female marine with insignia on her shoulder. "You'll spar with her next. Don't underestimate her. She's just started learning the Six Powers."

"Yes, ma'am!" the marine stepped out and gave a crisp salute. "My name is Jenny, rank: Sergeant. Please go easy on me."

"Ethan Chen. Nice to meet you." Ethan nodded and saluted back, his expression serious.

He didn't let her petite frame fool him.

A sergeant from Marine HQ was equivalent to at least a second lieutenant in the branches and she had just begun training in Rokushiki.

This was going to be tough.

They squared off.

At the signal, Jenny dashed forward like lightning.

So fast!

No time to think. Ethan raised his arm just in time to block her incoming whip-kick.

Then Straight Punch!

Just like before, his body instinctively corrected his posture, maximizing power output with perfect form.

He aimed straight for her face with no intention of holding back.

The last guy only passed out from a body slam that alone proved how tough people in this world really were.

No need to pull punches.

But just as his fist should have landed, Jenny's body twisted unnaturally, evading the strike like she was made of paper.

Paper Art?

"Finger Gun!"

Ethan barely managed to dive out of the way, rolling across the dock.

When he rose, Jenny had already repositioned.

"Tempest Kick!"

A slicing gust of wind tore through the air.

Ethan rolled again barely.

His chest guard was shredded, revealing the foam padding beneath.

Jenny circled, maintaining distance and unleashing precise, ranged attacks.

She was kiting him, draining his stamina little by little.

I can't keep this up!

After dodging yet another Tempest Kick, Ethan lunged forward with a powerful step.

"Elbow Strike!"

"Paper Art!"

Jenny turned pale as she dodged the brutal elbow but before she could counter, Ethan tackled her, locking his arms around her torso.

Then Bam!

A heavy headbutt slammed into her forehead.

She tried to guard with a half-mastered Iron Body technique, but it wasn't enough.

Direct hit!

Both recoiled Ethan seeing stars from the impact.

Before he could follow up, Tashigi stepped in.

"That's enough. You've won."

Breathing heavily, Ethan let the dazed Jenny slip from his arms. He stumbled, barely able to stay upright, and had to lean on 2B for support.

"I won..." he panted. "So you've got no excuse to stop me from setting sail now, right?"

"There's still one," Tashigi said calmly. "Beat me."

"I'll fight you," 2B cut in, eyes gleaming. As a warrior, she'd longed to test herself against the strong in this world.

"Forget it," Tashigi waved her off. "I was joking. Come here. You're bleeding."

Ethan touched his forehead and winced. A sharp sting pulsed where his skin had split.

That last headbutt might've been a bit too much.
