On the other side, Green Bull was incredibly swift. After cleanly severing Ace's head, he shot straight toward the Marine warship patiently waiting outside Dressrosa.
"Haha... I can't believe this mission went so smoothly!" he chuckled, a hint of self-satisfaction in his voice. "Oh, though I feel for Fujitora! He's stuck fighting a monster like Kaido!"
Just as Green Bull was reveling in his success, a massive shadow suddenly engulfed him. He looked up, his eyes widening as he saw an enraged Kaido glaring down.
Green Bull flinched, taken aback by Kaido's sudden, intimidating presence.
"Boy... hand over Ace's head!" Kaido's voice rumbled, echoing with menace.
Hearing Kaido's demand, Green Bull's mind raced. Why would he want Ace's head? he pondered. Ah, of course! Ace is Whitebeard's son, and Kaido must hold a grudge against Whitebeard. He probably wants to get his hands on Ace and crush him to ashes to vent his anger.
A smirk played on Green Bull's lips. "Since Mr. Kaido wants it, I'll gladly hand it over!" he replied, then casually tossed the vine-wrapped head toward Kaido.
Kaido caught it gently, then carefully placed it behind him in a secure spot.
"Well then, Mr. Kaido, I'll be taking my leave!" Green Bull announced, turning to walk away.
But before he could take two steps, Kaido's colossal fist, infused with Armament Haki, Conqueror's Haki entanglement, and a high-level form of Ryou, slammed towards him. Green Bull's survival instincts screamed, recognizing the sheer power behind the blow. He instantly transformed into his plant form, a desperate attempt to evade the devastating attack.
He barely dodged Kaido's punch, but where he had stood mere moments before, a massive sinkhole now marred the earth.
"Boy, you kill my student, and you think you can just walk away alive?" Kaido roared.
With a powerful leap, Kaido transformed into his magnificent dragon form, then aimed a searing Dragon's Breath directly at Green Bull.
Green Bull froze, stunned by Kaido's words. "Holy crap! Isn't Ace Whitebeard's son? When did he become Kaido's disciple?!" he screamed internally. Despite his inner turmoil, he knew he couldn't afford to hesitate against Kaido's Dragon's Breath. He continued to elementalize, transforming his body.
Realizing the futility of a direct escape against Kaido, Green Bull devised a desperate plan: he would transform part of his elemental body into dandelion seeds and scatter them. As long as a single seed escaped, he could be reborn.
His Logia-type Devil Fruit truly was an absurdly powerful ability!
Green Bull fragmented into countless dandelion seeds, carried away by the forceful impact of the Dragon's Breath. It was a successful, if undignified, escape.
After the Dragon's Breath dissipated, Kaido returned to his human form. As he landed, he spotted Ace casually chatting and laughing with Luffy and the others.
"Huh? Ace isn't dead?" he muttered to himself, a flicker of confusion in his eyes. He then approached the group, looking down at them with his usual intimidating presence.
Seeing him, Luffy extended a hand and cheerfully waved. "Hey, lovely teacher, long time no see!"
Kaido: ... Law: ... Jack: ... Fujitora: ... Doflamingo: ... Many onlookers: ...
"What the hell? 'Lovely'?" "That's the Straw Hat kid! He actually called the Emperor Kaido 'lovely'. Isn't he afraid of death?" "He's a goner!" "Look! Kaido's about to make his move! Those Straw Hats are finished!"
Amidst the bewildered whispers, Kaido placed a hand on Luffy's head. He spoke in a deep, rumbling voice, "Didn't I tell you to call me Kaido-sensei? Or Kai-sensei?"
Luffy stammered, "That... it just blurted out... Teacher Kai..."
"Hmph!" Kaido snorted arrogantly, then lightly flicked Luffy away.
This "slap" wasn't even covered in Armament Haki, making it neither painful nor itchy for the Rubber-Man Luffy.
As for why Luffy called Kaido "lovely," it was all thanks to Ikki. One time, when Ikki was calling Kaido "teacher," he accidentally blurted out a nickname given to Kaido by the Marines in his previous life: "Much Cuter." Luffy remembered it, and it stuck!
However, every time Luffy called him "cute," Kaido would give him an extra training session. This, ironically, was why Luffy had made the most rapid progress among all of Kaido's students!
Law was utterly dumbfounded by the scene that had just unfolded. When Kaido had "attacked" Luffy, he had seriously considered changing his alliance partner, or even directly surrendering to Kaido.
After all, Law's Ope Ope no Mi abilities were quite useful to Kaido. Law could replace parts of an animal's body with human organs, granting the animal human-like powers. With such a function, Kaido would surely accept Law.
But... what was that "attack" on Luffy just now? Could that even be considered an attack? To Law, it looked more like a strange form of affection!
Just as Law was reeling in confusion, Jack, ever lacking in foresight or subtlety, made his move. Seeing Kaido "slap" the Straw Hat boy away, Jack naturally saw an opportunity. He transformed into his mammoth form, coated his forelegs in Armament Haki, and stomped down on the recently recovered Luffy.
Luffy, unfazed by the relentless stomping, effortlessly dodged all of Jack's attacks with his superior Observation Haki. Just as Luffy was about to retaliate against Jack, Kaido intervened first.
"Boy... you think you can just beat up my students?" Kaido's voice boomed. His Conqueror's Haki, though not used for a physical attack, fully activated, unleashing an invisible force that utterly overwhelmed Jack, sending him reeling.
This scene unequivocally confirmed to everyone present that the Straw Hats indeed had a significant connection to Kaido. After all, Kaido was openly beating up his own subordinates for them.
When Foxfire Kin'emon witnessed the Straw Hats' close relationship with Kaido, his face grew grim, slowly darkening with a somber resolve. Kaido, after all, was the greatest enemy of Wano Country, the one who had murdered Kozuki Oden.
"No! I must take young master Momonosuke away from the Straw Hats. It's far too dangerous to stay here!" he declared, and immediately sprinted towards where the Thousand Sunny was docked.
Currently, only Usopp and Momonosuke, who was hiding on the ship due to his fear of women, were aboard the Thousand Sunny. Kin'emon's plan was to eliminate the long-nosed Usopp, then sail away with Momonosuke to Zou.
With the Straw Hats' connection to Kaido now confirmed, Kin'emon felt he could act without mercy. As for being a "savior"? Haha... To Kin'emon, a retainer of the Kozuki family, the dignity of their family vastly outweighed his own life.
Moreover, after learning of the Straw Hats' ties to Kaido, he began to suspect that the Straw Hats might have been responsible for Momonosuke's current predicament! It must be said, Kin'emon's guess, in this instance, was surprisingly accurate!
