Chapter 30: Don’t Argue with Women
Chapter 30: Don't Argue with Women
"Idiot, Beta, have you lost your mind?" Barrett shouted.
But no matter how much Barrett yelled, Beta ignored him and kept training desperately. Even though they argued constantly, they had the best relationship, and Barrett could feel Beta's sincerity.
Seeing Beta completely exhausted, Barrett opened his mouth but said nothing more until Beta collapsed on the ground, drained of energy. Barrett stayed with him silently, not making any extra movements.
"You know, I was a slave once," Beta said suddenly, surprising Barrett. But Barrett responded proudly, "I know."
"Because I ate a lot, I was never full, and being beaten by the masters was an everyday thing..." Barrett listened quietly. He had also gone through similar experiences, although with differences, but few could understand the bitterness that entailed.
"But... since I met boss Charlotte, my life changed. Although sometimes Charlotte despises me, I know he never looks down on me. I can feel it... He considers me a true family member."
Barrett's heart tightened. Family? It seemed very distant to him.
"The truth is, no one knows that the one who trains and works the hardest is boss Charlotte. I didn't understand before why someone so strong kept pushing himself so hard."
Barrett stayed silent. He knew it was because of the Golden Lion, and there were also many other strong opponents.
"That's why, in the future, I won't let the boss face enemies alone. I want to be the sharpest spear and face the enemies alongside him, protect this island, protect this home."
Beta laughed loudly and asked, "Barrett, do you want to join me?"
Barrett felt moved. Despite his young age and wandering so much, this place gave him a different feeling. There were no betrayals or endless deceptions; it was a mental peace and tranquility he had never experienced. He had lost his family, companions, and even... his country.
Suddenly, he felt he didn't want to lose this place and said without thinking, "Alright!"
Beta laughed joyfully at Barrett's response.
However, Beta's irritating tone returned, as always, angering Barrett.
"You're not strong enough. You can't beat me, I won't let you."
"Idiot! Do you want to fight?" Barrett couldn't help getting angry.
"Wow, you got mad."
Beta's tone and irritating expression made Barrett want to jump up.
"I don't understand why boss Charlotte says you have the bearing of a king."
Hearing this, Barrett lifted his head proudly, "You don't understand anything! Boss Charlotte has an eye for raw diamonds!"
"Tch, only you..."
Their conversation ended with an argument.
A sudden event seemed to have made everyone grow a little bit.
Seeing the Hiberfield group in a frenzy, Charlotte felt pleased. Look at everyone, that excellent sense of crisis awareness, that's great!
Therefore, Charlotte dedicated time each day to personally train everyone. In training, Charlotte was serious, meticulous, and strict.
Beta even asked to train with him, and he brought Barrett along too. With such a good sense of crisis, Charlotte didn't hold back.
From dawn until night, he pushed them until they finished the day's training.
Today was just as painful. Beta and Barrett were full of wounds, with swollen and bruised faces. Soon, the two limped to the infirmary.
Gillian laughed seeing their swollen faces like pig heads.
"Hey, hey, Gillian, can you control yourself a bit?" Beta complained.
"I couldn't help it, just this once. Next time, I'll be mindful."
Gillian said as she treated their wounds. Although they seemed serious, they were only superficial scratches.
Beta felt resigned. He had heard that many times before. It was always the same, with a strange familiarity.
Barrett, on the other hand, remained serious and proud, not speaking. But with his swollen face, he looked quite comical.
Barrett was resentful towards Beta for dragging him to train with boss Charlotte, who was a maniac. Just thinking about it made Barrett's eye twitch, and his wounds hurt more, emitting a slight "tss" of pain.
"Boss Charlotte is very tough!" Beta muttered. Although they weren't serious injuries, the stinging sensation was quite unpleasant.
"Idiot, you know that, but you still provoke him!" Barrett couldn't help shouting. The sudden movement made his wounds hurt more.
Gillian smiled slightly. Since the two started training with Charlotte, they had become regulars here, so she was used to their fights. They were always like this.
Soon, she finished treating them.
Beta couldn't help saying, "Gillian, you're getting better at medicine every time."
Although Barrett said nothing, he nodded in recognition.
"Of course! I want to be a famous doctor in the world; it's my dream," Gillian said with bright eyes. Then she looked at Beta and Barrett and smiled.
"You also need a good doctor on the ship to treat your wounds."
The two were surprised. It was true, not having a good doctor on board would be a big problem.
"Besides, I don't trust leaving boss Charlotte with you, who only know how to fight."
"Brutes!"
Beta and Barrett responded in unison, completely disagreeing. They weren't brutes!
But seeing Gillian's seriousness, they said no more. Don't argue with women. They would never admit they only knew how to fight. Impossible, absolutely impossible. That was the style of the strong, not the brutes.
However, when Beta and Barrett looked at each other, they snorted at the same time: "Brute!"
"You're the brute."
"You're the brute."
Then, they left the infirmary arguing.
From afar, Charlotte watched them and said, "Wow, such energy! They still have the strength to argue. Hmm, looks like they need more training. I'll have to adjust the plan."
Thinking this, Charlotte smiled, especially at imagining a good plan, and felt happier. Unknowingly, Beta and Barrett felt a chill.
