One Piece: It All Started When I Found Shanks' Arm

Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Executing Onigumo

Chapter 83: Executing Onigumo

The people in the distance, both civilians and pirates, stared at the scene, all of them speechless with shock.

From the moment Onigumo had strode confidently onto the square, cigar in mouth, to now, being held like a chicken in Shane's grasp, less than half an hour had passed.

Less than half an hour…

He defeated a Marine Vice Admiral from Headquarters in that little time?

Is this still the East Blue?

"Gack, gack…"

Shane's face was impassive, his grip tightening. Onigumo's breathing became more and more labored.

He was injured too, of course. In the intense, head-on physical clash, it was impossible to come out unscathed.

But his injuries were nothing compared to the battered, dog-like state of Onigumo.

Just as he had said, he was slightly superior to Onigumo in every aspect: strength, speed, physical arts, Haki, and even Life Return. And when combined in a real fight, it resulted in a complete and utter crush!

It was enough for him to turn his advantage into a decisive victory in just half an hour, completely crushing his opponent!

"Let go of Vice Admiral Onigumo!!!"

An angry roar suddenly came from the distance.

The four Rear Admirals, led by Hunt, seeing the critical situation, could no longer heed Onigumo's earlier orders. They all used Moonwalk to leap into the square.

They drew their swords and attacked Shane, who was standing in the center of the square, from all different angles!

Shane glanced up at them but didn't bother to react.

Just as before, four figures shot out from behind him at once, each one intercepting a Rear Admiral.

"Hey, don't interfere with our captain," Zeff said, taking off his white hood for the first time. He grinned and sent a vicious kick at Hunt.

"That's right, you have no business here!" Kuina drew the Wado Ichimonji, her blade clashing with the Rear Admiral's on the east side.

"And you!" Nojiko, wearing her metal gauntlets, slammed a punch into the chest of the only female Rear Admiral.

"AWOOO—!" Gin howled, throwing his head back. He didn't want to be left out; it just didn't feel right not to join in.

CLANG, CLANG, CLANG!!

Figures flashed in mid-air, the sound of metal on metal ringing out continuously.

Kuina and Gin quickly gained the upper hand, while Zeff was evenly matched with Hunt, the strongest of the Rear Admirals.

Nojiko was slightly outmatched in every aspect and was taking a bit of a beating.

But regardless of how the battles were going, the four Rear Admirals had been stopped at the edge of the square, caught in a fierce fight, unable to break through and get anywhere near Onigumo.

A few Captain-ranked officers tried to help, but a wall of fire suddenly erupted from nowhere, forming a ring and trapping them inside.

"...L-Let me go," Onigumo gasped, knowing he couldn't count on his subordinates. He stared at Shane, his voice raspy. "Let's… let's just end things here. Don't worry, if you let me go, Marine Headquarters will forget all about your crimes…"

"Forget all about them?"

Shane raised an eyebrow, almost laughing in disbelief.

This bastard, he's so used to being on top that he doesn't even know how to beg!

He looked at Onigumo as if he were an idiot. "So now that you're losing, you know how to say things like that? When you were acting so high and mighty before, did you ever think about showing us any mercy?"

"Get over here!"

Shane's grip tightened, and he dragged Onigumo's body through the puddles, striding toward the front of the square.

The pirates gathered in the middle quickly and respectfully parted for them.

The ordinary civilians had mostly already retreated to the corners, their eyes filled with anger and hatred as they looked at Onigumo.

Scrape—

The back of Onigumo's head scraped against the steps of the execution platform. Shane dragged him up the stairs. In Onigumo's hazy vision, he saw the scene along the side of the platform—

The shattered square, the collapsed shops on both sides, the caved-in houses, the heavily injured civilians lying by the walls.

In a corner, he thought he saw half of a baby's swaddling cloth, fluttering in the ruins…

In a flash, they were on top of the execution platform.

"Do you see it now?"

THUMP! Shane grabbed Onigumo by the hair and slammed his face against the platform. "Do you see it now?! Answer me!!!"

"Let me go…"

Onigumo gritted his teeth, struggling to lift his head. He inadvertently saw the view from the front of the platform, and his pupils constricted.

No! This is the same view that the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, saw before he died.

What is he doing?

What is this black-haired brat trying to do?!

Is he really going to kill me?!!!

BOOM!

In the pouring rain, a flash of lightning lit up the gloomy sky, illuminating the two faces on the execution platform.

"Are you insane?! Do you know what will happen to you if you kill a Vice Admiral from Headquarters?! Do you want to become a pirate and be hunted by the Marines for the rest of your life?!" Onigumo roared.

The six spider-like braids on the back of his head thrashed wildly, but they couldn't break free from the five iron-like fingers.

"It seems you really don't see it," Shane said, ignoring the threat and shaking his head. His right hand tightened its grip. "But I suppose an extremist who doesn't even care about the lives of his own men couldn't be expected to feel any remorse for the suffering he's caused to the people…"

"…could he!"

CRACK!

A sharp, cracking sound suddenly rang out, drowning out all other noise.

Onigumo's neck twisted at a grotesque angle and then went limp. The light in his eyes faded, and the six spider-arms on his back went rigid for a moment before crashing to the ground.

An eerie silence fell over the entire square.

Countless eyes were focused on the top of the execution platform in disbelief.

He really killed him…

He really just killed him like that!!!

Since Roger's death eighteen years ago, the execution platform of Loguetown had finally claimed its second victim, executed in front of everyone!

And it was a Vice Admiral from Marine Headquarters!

In the distance, the four Rear Admirals stared at the scene, stunned into inaction.

For a moment, they lost their will to fight, and Kuina and the others easily took them down.

"We'll spare your lives for now. The captain will decide what to do with you!" Zeff said, smacking his lips. He disarmed them, tied them up, and knocked them out one by one.

Around the square, the civilians who had been cowering in the corners and in their houses were still staring up at the execution platform, too shocked to process what had just happened.

But the pirates gathered in the center were the first to react. As if they had been injected with adrenaline, they began to pump their fists in the air and roar with excitement.

"—OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
