One Piece: I Understand It Now

Chapter 14: Pirate Haven!

Chapter 14: Pirate Haven!

It was mentioned that the actual pirate haven was hidden somewhere on this island, so how could Ken, who had absolutely no knowledge about this island other than its location, find it?

It was still easy to come to the conclusion that a place named Pirate Haven would be hidden somewhere and not be in plain sight; thus, all he had to do was look around, and once he spotted a group of pirates walking about, he hid and trailed behind them.

A few hours later, he saw where they entered, and after waiting for a while, he followed.

And that's how he found it.

Blocked by a gate made by some power and not normal metal, there was it.

Two guards were standing there, firmly following their mission of not allowing anyone other than pirates to enter.

When they saw Ken, they stopped him.

"Who are you? And what purpose do you have here?" They asked.

"What purpose would a pirate have in a place called the Pirate Haven? I'm Ken, and I'm here to find information about treasures." Ken replied.

The guards looked at each other and smirked.

"Alright, little lad. Get in, and don't make too much noise; the bastards inside are very fond of dangerous-looking fellas like you." One of the guards said, opening the door for Ken to enter.

Ken nodded and entered without so much as another word.

The young man's face looked like what a child who grew up in wars would.

The dirty brown skin, the dangerous eyes that seemed to suck all light in them, and a demeanor like that of a wild hungry hyena.

Pirates liked this kind of people; they were the type to do whatever it takes to achieve their goal, and if a captain of any crew were to have such a man in his team, success and fame are a step away if they move cautiously.

Not to mention the weapons on Ken's side, though most were hidden, the katana wasn't, and one look could tell anyone that he knew how to use it.

The guards stationed at the door weren't random nobodies; they wouldn't let anyone who looked too pure or weak.

It was easy to differentiate between a pirate and a marine or any other man, and these guys who had been here for years were even better at that.

They looked at Ken as he entered and then back at each other.

"I bet you he's going to be famous in a week." The first guard said.

"A week? Hold that thought. I say he'll be famous in a day at most." The second guard smiled and entered after Ken.

"You son of a... What are you going to do?"

"I want to make sure we're not wrong."

"..."

"Don't go too far," the first guard said while shaking his head.

"I can't promise."

These were the last words spoken by the man as, after going through the gate and a short corridor, he came across the same scenery Ken had just been through.

A cave city!

No, calling a city would be going too far. It was barely a village. The houses weren't the best; it was full of bars, inns, and stores for the pirates to do their deeds.

No view of any light other than the torches on the corners of the village, it was barely enough to lighten up the mood and it gave an eerie feeling of one being in a constant night cycle.

It was obvious that one couldn't stay here for long and it was exactly why this theme was held in almost all pirate havens.

They were here to serve a purpose and not for one to live.

Though there were those who worked here, and not a single one of them wasn't gloomy.

Ken saw all of this and ingrained it in his mind.

He still needed to gain information about the shops in this Haven, and since he wasn't the extroverted type...

He walked.

He walked and walked for minutes, and his eyes looked all around trying to read words he could barely recognize due to their randomness and seeing scenes that weren't pleasing to the eye.

"Hey, handsome, wanna spend some time with this auntie? I promise you will like it." Passing through a very crowded area, he was called by a woman who could barely be described as dressed.

He immediately knew where he was and without so much as a word, he walked to the end of the district, ignoring any and all calls till the last one.

"Hey, young man. I don't recommend you continue walking. I'm sure you're new here, so I'll be kind enough to say it this once." Looking to his right, he saw a beautiful middle-aged woman who was dressed more modestly than all the others, sitting alone on a chair, smoking.
