Chapter 36: Chapter 36
"I admit, I underestimated you all."
"Your companions are impressive—very different from the enemies I used to encounter back in the East Blue."
Mad Treasure cast a glance at the unconscious Naomi on Genrou's ship, then turned and spoke directly to Genrou.
"So what? Are you surrendering now?"
"Hmph! Not a chance! Even though the situation isn't what I expected, as long as I defeat you and then take care of the other two, everything will go back to how I planned."
With that, Mad Treasure lunged forward in a crouch, charging straight toward Genrou and Nami.
"No need to rush."
Genrou chuckled lightly, raised his hand, and used Card Magic to summon a flame that blasted Mad Treasure back several meters.
"Amazing… It's the same magic, but why is it so much stronger when you use it?" Nami exclaimed in surprise.
"Don't worry, Nami. If you keep practicing, you'll reach this level too."
"To help you get there faster, I think you should go spar with that Mad Treasure."
"And while you're at it, wouldn't that count as revenge?"
Genrou gave her a big smile, then activated Stealth, hiding his presence entirely.
In the eyes of Nami and Mad Treasure, who lacked Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki), Genrou had completely vanished.
"Wait—Genrou, come out! How am I supposed to beat someone like Mad Treasure?!"
Seeing Genrou disappear, Nami immediately panicked.
Hang in there, Nami. Only by defeating Mad Treasure yourself can you grow stronger quickly.
And if you can beat Mad Treasure, then surely you'll have the confidence to take down the Arlong Pirates too.
Don't forget—you still have your trump card.
Genrou didn't respond. After offering his silent encouragement, he remained hidden and slipped to a deserted part of the deck.
As for the fight between Zoro and Luffy, he had no intention of helping.
After all, with him watching from the shadows, he didn't believe any of them would really get hurt.
…
"That brat vanished... Could he have eaten a Devil Fruit similar to Psycho-P's?"
"Nami, your new partner sure is heartless—leaving you behind to deal with me while he hides."
Mad Treasure sneered, but his eyes—concealed behind his sunglasses—kept scanning the surroundings cautiously.
Clearly, he didn't fully trust that Genrou had really left.
While he enjoyed the thrill of high-risk treasure hunts, this situation had gone far beyond what he expected.
"Hoo…"
Nami took a deep breath and turned to stare straight at Mad Treasure.
By now, she understood clearly—Genrou wasn't going to reappear any time soon.
She had to deal with Mad Treasure herself.
"Damn you, Genrou… once this is over, I'll make you pay."
Nami cursed under her breath. But even so, she wasn't overly worried.
She knew—if things really got dangerous, Genrou would definitely step in to help.
"You should be focusing on this situation right now, Nami."
Mad Treasure snorted, then whipped a chain toward her.
Nami's eyes sharpened. She immediately pulled out two cards and summoned flames and water.
As the two elements collided, they created a thick mist that obscured the battlefield in an instant.
"Hmph, such petty tricks."
Mad Treasure scoffed and hurled two chains at the silhouette of Nami in the fog.
But lacking Kenbunshoku Haki, he didn't notice that his target wasn't the real Nami—it was a puppet she had summoned using Card Magic.
Meanwhile, Nami had already maneuvered around to his flank.
This guy has strong defense, but Devil Fruit users always have a weakness.
If I can just push him into the sea…
With her eyes fixed, Nami summoned a gust of wind that swept toward Mad Treasure.
"What?!"
Believing his attack had worked, Mad Treasure was caught off guard. He hastily formed a shield from his chains to block.
But even with that defense, the sudden wind still sent his body flying into the air.
"Now's my chance!"
Nami threw out another card, summoning a pillar of ice that came crashing down on Mad Treasure.
Though he managed to block the ice, the impact launched him off the ship.
"Yes! I did it!"
Nami nearly leapt in joy—only for her face to freeze moments later.
Mad Treasure had used his Devil Fruit ability to latch a chain onto the ship's railing.
With one tug, he hauled himself back onto the deck.
"Nami, I admit—I underestimated you."
"I didn't expect that after all this time, you'd become a Devil Fruit user…"
"And even manage to wield that power so well."
"This time—I won't hold back."
Because Nami had summoned wind, the fog had dissipated.
Now Mad Treasure could see her position clearly.
With a powerful stomp, he launched forward at more than twice his previous speed.
"Damn it—I won't lose!"
Nami gritted her teeth, silently keeping to herself that her powers didn't come from a Devil Fruit.
She threw several cards at once, summoning various elemental forces to clash with Mad Treasure in a fierce battle.
However, despite inheriting Kana's power, Nami's physical stamina was still far too weak.
Before long, the tide of battle began to turn against her.
