The God of Skypiea
Hikaru lowered his head and carefully picked flowers for a while before releasing Moda. He smiled warmly at her, "Let's get you changed into a gorgeous divine concubine outfit so your parents can see how well you're living here."
"Yes! Brother Shen, I'll do whatever you say!" Moda replied eagerly. What a lovely girl she was.
He stood up with Moda and gave his order: "Nami, regarding Asuka Island, first confirm the number of people, and then we can proceed."
His words interrupted the playful dispute between Nami and Carina.
"Got it!"
After Nami responded, she stopped her banter with Carina and focused on her task.
Hikaru helped Moda out of her secretary outfit and into an elegant, dignified goddess dress before escorting her to Arpaiado.
Today, Arpaiado served primarily as the shared living space for the former Angel Islanders and the Shandians. The ancient shrine remained intact, with angels coming daily to maintain its cleanliness.
Upon entering the palace, they found that Shura and other priests had already followed Hikaru's instructions, bringing Moda's parents to wait in the grand hall.
As Hikaru held Moda's hand and took his seat on the throne overlooking the hall, Shura and the others proclaimed in unison:
"Your Majesty's divine virtue astounds the world! Your boundless grace enlightens all!"
Hikaru acknowledged them with a nod. Moda's parents were present, observing their daughter's genuine excitement. However, she seemed intimidated by the formality of Shura and the others, leaving her hesitant to move.
"Moda, go greet your parents."
"Okay!"
Moda responded softly, then gazed uncertainly at her parents. Though she desperately wanted to see them, now that they were actually before her, doubt crept in. Had they truly abandoned her?
Moda's parents, Kong Shi and Kong Da, remained cautious despite Hikaru's permission. The formidable display of power from Shura and the priests the previous day had left them thoroughly intimidated.
In the end, it was Moda who took the first step.
After a brief, tentative exchange, she threw herself into her mother's arms, her joyful smile warming everyone's heart.
By reading their minds, Hikaru confirmed their feelings. Their love for Moda was genuine! But then why had they seemingly abandoned her to work in the Navy Canteen?
After some time, Moda and Hikaru learned the unfortunate truth.
Moda's parents had been painfully naive!
Before departing to work at the Navy mess hall, they had entrusted Moda's care to neighbors with whom they had good relations.
But such arrangements, even between blood relatives, can be neglected or even turn harmful.
What more could be expected from mere neighbors who were only on cordial terms? It was fortunate enough that they hadn't actually harmed Moda!
After two months of increasingly indifferent care from the neighbors, Moda was essentially left to fend for herself.
The situation with the living expenses and letters sent home was even more tragic. The Bellies and correspondence intended for Moda were given to a marine who claimed to make monthly trips to the Kingdom of Lulusia.
After delivering twice, the sailor had easily forged Moda's handwriting to deceive her parents, pocketing all the Bellies for himself.
Truly, misfortune tends to compound upon the already unfortunate!
Learning the truth, Moda didn't weep but instead seemed relieved, as though a great weight had been lifted. To her, knowing her parents hadn't abandoned her meant far more than any material loss.
"Where is this marine officer now?" Hikaru asked, his voice deceptively calm. Anyone who dared harm those under his protection would face his wrath!
Kong Shi trembled at the bone-chilling tone. Though Hikaru exerted no deliberate pressure, his mere aura terrified the meek man.
Noticing this, Shura inquired, "Your Majesty, shall we dispatch troops to eliminate this marine?"
"No need."
When delivering justice, destruction was often simpler than protection.
Kong Shi hastily wiped cold sweat from his brow and explained, "That marine... he was killed in yesterday's battle. I witnessed his head flying into the sea with my own eyes."
His fear stemmed from having observed the brutal conflict between Shura's priests and the marines the previous day—a bloody spectacle.
Shura's strategy was straightforward: the gods would inevitably rule the world. Eliminating opponents now meant less resistance later when their divine rule was established.
"Dead?" Hikaru noted that Kong Shi's expression seemed genuine, with real fear evident. Evidently, Shura had been quite thorough in dealing with the marines.
He couldn't help but commend Shura: "Well done."
"I live to serve Your Majesty!" Shura responded with fervor.
Hikaru nodded approvingly. The name "Shura" suited him well—he was indeed ruthless in battle.
He considered that among his female allies, only Vivi, Hina, Nami, Robin, Mikita, Tashigi, Kalifa, and Perona possessed both combat ability and fighting spirit.
Except for Tashigi, who relied on swordsmanship without Devil Fruit powers, and Kalifa, who continued her amnesia charade, they all possessed Devil Fruit abilities.
The time had come to use the Devil Fruits in his possession to enhance his subordinates' combat capabilities.
With this in mind, Hikaru raised his hand and summoned Devil Fruits from his storage.
Shura and the priests seemed to sense what was coming. They gazed at Hikaru with fanatical devotion and knelt on one knee.
Hikaru expanded his white lightning, selected several Devil Fruits, extracted their powers, and calmly announced:
"Shura, I grant you the power of the Ancient Zoan, Spinosaurus Form! You shall wield the unmatched strength of the Spinosaurus."
"Gedatsu, I bestow upon you the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Great-Tongued Dog! Your defense shall be as impenetrable as stone."
"Ohm, I grant you the power of the Usagi Usagi no Mi! You shall possess the agility and speed of a rabbit."
"I bestow upon you the Uma Uma no Mi! You shall have the physique and endurance of a horse."
"Yama, I grant you the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Vulture! You shall command the skies with the aerial prowess of a vulture."
"Thank you, Your Majesty! Your divine virtue astounds the world, and your grace enlightens all!"
With these enhancements, his subordinates' strength would increase dramatically. Combined with their Color of Arms Haki, they would ensure he maintained capable followers even when facing the Four Emperors.
Meanwhile, Moda had finished reconnecting with her parents. Under Hikaru's arrangement, they would open a restaurant in Arpaiado to support themselves.
Hikaru accompanied Moda back to the temple. Overwhelmed with gratitude, she eagerly led him to her courtyard and prepared a meal for him.
Hikaru savored every bite of the feast, helping himself to seconds and thirds...
Just as he worried that Moda might be exhausting herself with all the cooking, the determined gleam in her eyes touched his heart, making him clench his fists with deepened affection.
...
At noon on the third day, Hikaru sensed someone playfully disturbing his rest. He awakened slowly to discover a soft, jade-like arm extending toward his calf, silently teasing his foot.
Without looking, he knew immediately that Robin was playing one of her tricks on him.
