One Piece: Getting Stronger by Writing a Diary

Chapter 214: Chapter 162.5 – Different version of Unlimited Blade Works

Even Mihawk was momentarily forced to close his eyes against the sudden brilliance.

Moments later, the first to see the transformed surroundings were the diary holders, whose perspective allowed them to witness the scene without delay.

Kozuki Hiyori: "The land filled with infinite swords has appeared once again!"

Tashigi: "Just like last time, every sword here surpasses the supreme-grade blades in quality!"

Ain: "But compared to last time, the atmosphere of this world feels entirely different."

Monet: "Last time, it was a crimson land under a sunset-drenched sky. This time, it's a snowfield shrouded in a raging night storm."

Gion: "This is... no matter how many times I see it, it has an overwhelming impact on me as a swordsman. Mihawk must feel the same seeing this."

Charlotte Smoothie: "The change in the world's atmosphere—what could have caused it?"

If the previous version of Shirou Emiya and the current version were both borrowing the powers of the red Heroic Spirit Emiya, then the Unlimited Blade Works Arton was using now likely resembled that of the red Heroic Spirit even more closely.

Black Maria: "The chant has changed... The words seem to hint at a different mindset. Could it be that the world of Unlimited Blade Works shifts according to each Shirou Emiya's psyche?!"

Baccarat: "Arton once mentioned that the earlier version of Shirou Emiya couldn't use Unlimited Blade Works because his mindset was too far removed from that of the red Heroic Spirit Emiya. So, does this mean that successfully using Unlimited Blade Works requires a mindset similar to that of the red Emiya? And that the world within it changes based on each Shirou's state of mind? This is getting complicated. Without Arton explaining it, it's hard to wrap my head around this."

Whitey Bay: "Only those close to Arton, like Carina and Nami, might fully understand the true reasons behind the differences between the two instances of Unlimited Blade Works."

At this moment, as they stared at the extraordinary scene, many diary holders who had witnessed Unlimited Blade Works before were filled with new questions.

Whitey Bay and others were indeed correct in their assumptions.

Nami, Carina, and the others understood the reasons behind the differences in the various versions of Unlimited Blade Works.

Even so, like Whitey Bay and the others, this was also their first time witnessing the different versions of Unlimited Blade Works with their own eyes.

...

A snowfield ravaged by a fierce blizzard spread out under a night sky shrouded in dark clouds, with no stars in sight. The only light came from a solitary bright moon illuminating the heavens and earth.

Countless swords stood embedded in the snowy ground, each one dazzlingly ornate and extraordinarily sharp.

Even someone with no knowledge of swords could easily discern that every blade here was a priceless treasure.

Mihawk surveyed the surrounding landscape, sheathed his black sword, and meticulously observed this peculiar world and the countless visible blades.

...

Meanwhile, back where the spectators had gathered to watch the battle between Arton and Mihawk, a heated discussion erupted.

"Where is this place?"

"Weren't we just at the Baratie? How did we suddenly end up on land?"

"Oh no, I've got an island-avoidance sickness!"

Usopp clutched his chest, nervously scanning the surroundings.

Many others shared his unease as they fearfully examined their environment.

The abrupt transition to an unfamiliar setting was alarming, but the sight of a land filled with infinite swords, resembling an ancient battlefield, was even more unsettling.

The very air seemed to carry the weight of countless buried warriors whose bodies were tied to the swords piercing the ground. These ominous feelings heightened their fear.

...

"What about the Baratie? Where's the Baratie gone?"

"Hey, Uta, do you know where our restaurant disappeared to?"

Sanji looked around, anxiety written all over his face, as he turned to Uta for answers.

Hearing his question, Zeff, the Baratie's chefs, staff, and patrons all directed their gazes toward Uta.

"Don't worry, this is Arton's Reality Marble," Uta replied with a casual wave of her hand.

"He's simply brought you all into a special world."

"Once he dismisses this world, you'll naturally return to where you were before."

Her nonchalant tone and explanation brought a semblance of relief to the confused and frightened crowd.

"Reality Marble? That sounds amazing! What is it, Uta?"

Luffy's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he asked Uta.

"Well..." Uta paused briefly, then shrugged. "Alright, I suppose it doesn't matter if I explain it to you."

"A Reality Marble is the ability to manifest the scenery of one's inner world."

"Once a Reality Marble is activated, it replaces the surrounding environment with the user's internal world."

"To put it in terms you can understand, Luffy, it's like however the user's heart and mind are, that's how the world around them will change."

Uta stopped for a moment to observe their surroundings carefully.

"Last time, it was a sunset, a crimson earth, and infinite swords."

"This time, it's a bright moon, a snowy plain, and infinite swords."

"It's truly fascinating."

"I wonder what kind of Unlimited Blade Works we'll see next time."

Uta rubbed her chin thoughtfully as she spoke.

...

Charlotte Smoothie: "I see. So the surrounding world indeed changes based on Emiya Shirou's state of mind."

Monet: "Does this mean this version of Emiya Shirou's mindset is reflected in this endless snow and infinite swords? It complements my Devil Fruit abilities quite well."

Gion: "The swords embedded in the ground are a constant, but the environment and the chant reflect the current state of Emiya Shirou's heart."

Whitey Bay: "This Emiya Shirou's mindset feels incredibly cold, doesn't it?"

At this moment, the diary copies holders gained a general understanding of why the two instances of Unlimited Blade Works summoned by Arton differed in their scenes.
