One Piece: From Ninja To Pirates

Chapter 52: Adorable Little Merry

"Ah... an unfamiliar ceiling again," Meiser said as he opened his eyes.

Upon waking, Meiser instinctively sat up and glanced around the room, realizing it looked like a temporary living space.

Several wooden beds were lined up in the room, and one of them still had someone lying on it.

"Is that... Luffy?" Meiser said in surprise.

This guy was still asleep? It seemed he hadn't been out for too long, then.

Just then, an adorable little girl came swaying in, her face lighting up with joy the moment she saw Meiser sitting up.

"Wow!"

"Meiser, you're awake!"

Merry trotted over to Meiser, her big, watery eyes fixed on him as she said, "How do you feel? Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

"I'll have you know, Sanji's cooking is amazing!"

As if savoring the memory of the taste, Merry happily squinted her eyes.

Meiser was taken aback. Could this little one actually eat?

Oh, right. She wasn't just a pure Ship Spirit anymore—it made sense that she could eat now.

"Sanji's cooking, huh..." Meiser reached out and ruffled the little girl's head. "I'm looking forward to it."

Hearing the commotion inside, the others soon rushed in one after another.

"Meiser, you're finally awake!" Chopper said.

"Everyone..." Meiser scanned the group and noticed that, aside from Zoro and Usopp, the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates were here.

"How are you feeling now?" Chopper leaned in closer. "You were unconscious for two whole days, you know."

As he spoke, Chopper pulled out his tools to check Meiser's vital signs and confirm his recovery.

Meiser didn't resist, letting Chopper do his work.

"Two days?" Meiser said, surprised. "I was out for two days?"

"Yep," Sanji nodded, instinctively reaching for a cigarette before hesitating and putting it back. "What happened back then? Why did you suddenly pass out?"

"Yeah, if Merry hadn't caught you, you might've drowned," Nami added.

The situation had looked incredibly dangerous—Meiser had lost consciousness for some reason and plummeted toward the sea, only to be caught by Merry.

"Ah, I overused my Chakra, so..." Meiser trailed off, then blinked and looked down at Merry. "You caught me?"

Wait, he was at least an adult's weight. How could a little girl who looked no older than five or six have caught him?

"Did I hurt you when I fell?" Meiser asked worriedly.

"You're kinda underestimating me, aren't you?" Merry raised her right arm, flexing it in a "look how strong I am" pose. "Hee~"

"I'm super strong!"

Her adorable display made everyone burst into laughter.

"I'm serious!" Merry insisted. "I'm plenty strong. How else do you think I used to repair the ship?"

Her words gave everyone pause.

That's right—how had Merry been repairing the ship before?

According to Usopp, Merry had completely repaired the damaged Merry Go all by herself.

This included hauling up many heavy materials entirely on her own!

At this thought, everyone's expressions shifted—they hadn't considered this issue before.

Meiser blinked and glanced at Merry, who was holding her head high, waiting for praise. "I didn't expect you to be this amazing," he said.

"Hehe, of course! I'm really incredible," Merry replied proudly.

"Alright, everything seems fine," Chopper said, removing his stethoscope. "Meiser's recovery is going very well."

"Seems my body's in great shape too," Meiser chuckled.

"Still laughing?" Nami sighed helplessly. "You have no idea how scared we were."

They had no clue what had happened to Meiser. One moment he was standing perfectly fine on the sea, and the next, he collapsed without any warning.

If not for Chopper's exceptional medical skills, diagnosing that Meiser had simply passed out from overexertion, they wouldn't have known what to do.

"Yeah, Meiser," Chopper added. "Don't push yourself like that again."

"I was just trying to save Merry," Meiser said. "I didn't expect such a little thing to have such terrifying energy demands."

If he hadn't been a hybrid of the Uchiha Clan and the Senju, he would've died right then and there.

"I'm sorry..."

"It's fine, I don't blame you." Meiser reached out and ruffled the little one's head. "How could I, when our Merry is so adorable~"

"You must be hungry," Sanji interjected. "Come on, I've already prepared lunch. Let's eat."

"Mmm... You'll get to see something new and fun."

"Yeah, yeah! It's super interesting!" Merry grabbed Meiser's hand. "Let's go to the dining room."

"Alright, alright, just let me get up first."

Climbing out of bed, Meiser slipped on his shoes and glanced at his clothes. "Huh? Where's my original outfit?"

"Who undressed me?"

"Of course it was Chopper. Who else would it be?" Nami rolled her eyes.

"It's over there," Nico Robin pointed behind Meiser.

Turning around, Meiser saw his clothes neatly folded on the shelf, looking immaculate.

From the looks of it, they had been washed.

"Come on, let's eat first, eat first!" Merry urged.

"Fine, fine, let's go eat."

Meiser turned away—he could deal with the clothes later.

Upon entering the dining room, Meiser was greeted by an extravagant spread of food, making him instinctively swallow.

"This much?"

"Too much?" Sanji raised an eyebrow. "You'll soon realize it's not enough."

As he spoke, Sanji placed a plate of pasta in front of Meiser. "Here, try this."

Meiser took a bite, and his eyes lit up. "This is great, Sanji!"

"Glad you like it."

For a chef, having their food appreciated was the greatest joy.

"I told you, Sanji's cooking is the best!" Merry cheered happily.

Sanji, delighted by Merry's praise, handed her a pre-made juice with a grin. "Merry-chan, thank you for the compliment~"

"Wow, juice! Thanks, Sanji!"

This harmonious scene made Meiser feel completely relaxed. It was entirely different from the world of Ninjas.

In the Ninja world, most of the time was spent fighting and killing.

But here it wasn't like that, bringing a sense of peace to Meiser's heart.

"Meiser, want to go shopping later?"

"Yes!" Meiser replied. "I need to buy some new clothes."

"Great, let's go together then." Nico Robin smiled and nodded.

"I want to go too!" Merry raised her hand.

"Alright, alright, little Merry can come along too."

"Hehe~"

Merry laughed happily. She always loved these opportunities to experience new things with her companions.

Just then, a figure dashed out from inside at incredible speed and whooshed into the seat opposite Meiser.

Watching Luffy eat while still half-asleep, Meiser twitched his lips and muttered, "This guy... just how hungry is he?"
