Chapter 22 The Clown
At this moment, Jabra finally realized that the earlier explosion of the Water Dragon had merely been a diversion. In truth, it hadn't even hit the Ninja—those splashing water droplets might have been deliberately scattered by their opponent!
"Dammit!"
How could Jabra not be furious after being toyed with like this?
"The tides have turned again, chapapa~"
"No one will think you're mute if you shut up right now," Kalifa snapped irritably.
Did this idiot even know when and where to speak?
Then again, if he actually understood proper timing, he wouldn't have had his mouth zipped shut in the first place.
"What's going on? What's going on?"
Spandam, clutching his head, came running back. When he saw the situation in the distance, his eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
"Hey!"
"Why the hell are Nico Robin and the others over there?!"
"CP9, what the hell are you all doing?!"
Spandam was livid. Just moments ago, he had been fantasizing about his glorious future, only for reality to smack him hard in the face.
Franky had burned the blueprints, the Ninja and Nico Robin had both returned to the Straw Hat Boy's side—what the hell was even the point anymore?!
The members of CP9, already humiliated by the enemy's trick, now had to endure their idiot superior's tantrum, their expressions darkening further.
"Yo-ho-ho~"
"Your Excellency, them going over there doesn't mean they'll leave here alive," Kumadori struck a pose and said. "As long as they remain on Enies Lobby, we can still capture them."
"Exactly," Blueno added. "That waterfall might be an insurmountable barrier for others, but not for us."
With Moonwalk, they could cross over at any time and engage the enemy in battle.
"Ah, that's true." Spandam nodded, calming down.
In his earlier agitation, he had completely forgotten—CP9's Six Powers allowed them to traverse the waterfall and attack their foes.
"Most importantly, without the key, the Straw Hat Boy won't be able to free Nico Robin," Kalifa adjusted her glasses and said.
After speaking, she glanced at the Straw Hat Pirates, who were currently lost in celebration, and called out, "Hey, pirates!"
Unfortunately, no one paid her any attention.
Crack
A vein throbbed on Kalifa's forehead as she shouted furiously, "Hey! Straw Hat Pirates! Are you even listening to me?!"
"What do you want?" Nami shot her a sidelong glance.
Couldn't this enemy see they were busy rejoicing over their reunion? Talk about bad timing.
"Don't celebrate too soon!" Kalifa sneered. "Have you forgotten that Nico Robin is still locked in Sea-stone Handcuffs?"
"Oh? Do you have the key?"
"Heh, something like that."
The moment those words left her mouth, Meiser's gaze sharpened instantly. If the key was on that woman, he wouldn't hesitate to cut her down first.
Meiser's glare made Kalifa take a step back, but remembering she was still surrounded by her comrades, she quickly regained her composure and stepped forward again.
"Hold on, let me finish." Kalifa took out a key and said, "There are now a total of six keys, each held by one of us six."
"And the one that can truly unlock Nico Robin's Sea-stone Handcuffs is among them. Are you... really sure you want to run away now?"
Under normal circumstances, Kalifa wouldn't bother with such unnecessary actions, but now she had no choice but to use this method to keep these pirates from leaving so easily.
"So what you're saying..." Zoro placed his hand on his sword hilt, "is that we can't free Robin unless we take the keys from you."
"Tch... huff..." Sanji lit a cigarette and said, "Then let's fight."
"Can't we figure out a way to deal with the handcuffs later?" Nami interjected. "We've already gotten Robin back."
"Are you really willing to do that?" Kalifa sneered. "Dragging around a burden locked in Sea-stone Handcuffs, facing assassination attempts every single day."
"What if someone can unlock them?"
"Sorry, but Sea-stone Handcuffs are special," Kalifa said coldly. "Unless you find a specific Devil Fruit user, the only way is to get the key."
"But the sea is so vast—do you really think you can find one?"
"Or are you planning to let Nico Robin wear those handcuffs for the rest of her life?"
Kalifa looked utterly confident, as if she had them completely cornered.
"Well said!" Spandam burst into laughter. "Pirates, even if you leave today, I can mobilize more forces to hunt you down!"
"Do you really think you can protect Nico Robin while she's still in handcuffs?!"
"You—"
"SHUT UP!!!"
Luffy suddenly roared, cutting Spandam off mid-sentence. The outburst startled Spandam so badly he nearly fell over.
"I said I'm gonna punch that pigeon guy!" Luffy declared. "And besides, we've already declared war on you. Did you really think we'd just leave?"
"Luffy..."
"He's right," Meiser said calmly. "You've even gone as far as initiating a Buster Call. It'd be pretty lame if we just walked away without doing anything."
"This time, I'll make sure Robin knows—the Buster Call isn't anything to be afraid of!!"
"Meiser..."
Nico Robin, held in Meiser's arms, felt tears welling up in her eyes. She bit her lip, struggling not to let them fall.
"Seems like nothing's really changed," Zoro remarked.
"Works for me," Sanji said. "I've been itching to kick their asses."
"You guys..." Nami sighed in resignation before steeling herself. "Fine. If that's how it is, let's tear this place apart."
"Exactly what I wanted!" Chopper shouted angrily. "You bastards who dared to bully Robin—prepare yourselves!"
"Sogeking doesn't mess around either!"
"Everyone..."
Nico Robin couldn't hold back any longer—tears streamed down her cheeks.
"Ah!!"
"You damn bastards!!"
Franky covered his face and cried out, "I freaking love you guys!!"
"Bastards!"
"Bastards!"
"Alright!" Franky stood up and said, "Let super me lend you a hand!"
"Today's me is also super awesome!!"
Kalifa watched this scene with a livid expression. She never expected the other side already had such intentions, making her feel like a complete fool.
Thinking she had grasped their weakness, only to realize it was a knife they'd handed to her!
"Damn it, if that's the case, then why go through all this trouble?!" Kalifa glared furiously at Meiser.
"Me?" Meiser glanced sideways at Kalifa. "While I did intend to fight you all... I've never had the habit of leaving my comrades in your hands."
"Having the ability to save them yet still letting comrades fall into danger—that's not something I would do."
"Bastard!"
"In that case, let's settle this with action!" Kalifa declared.
"Kid, the Buster Call isn't as simple as you think," Rob Lucci said. "You'll regret today's decision."
"No."
"You... have no understanding of my true strength!"
Meiser grinned widely. "Making enemies of Ninjas on the open seas is your greatest mistake!"
"A mistake you'll remember for the rest of your lives!"
