Chapter 453: Chapter 454: The Red Count Is Captured

Chapter 454: The Red Count Is Captured

"Ha ha ha ha! Kong, you've lost!"

Red Count stood laughing wildly, staring down at Kong's unmoving body buried in the rubble.

His triumphant, maniacal laughter echoed through the island, a release of all his long-held frustrations.

If Charlotte were here, he would have surely reminded the Red Count to finish the job quickly.

Because otherwise, something unexpected might happen.

After his long laugh, Red Count staggered forward toward Kong.

Cough! Cough!

That small movement instantly tugged at his severe internal injuries, forcing him to stop. He clutched his chest, groaning in pain.

A violent coughing fit took over.

By the end, he could barely stand on his own and had to use his umbrella for support.

After the worst of it passed, Red Count straightened his body and pressed forward again, step by step, toward Kong.

Kong, unconscious and lying amid the rubble, was completely unaware of the approaching danger.

Just as Red Count raised his hand to end it—

"Stop right there, bastard!"

A thunderous shout rang out.

Red Count's excitement instantly plummeted to despair.

That voice—he knew it well.

So well, in fact, that he didn't even need to look to know who it was.

"…Just one step away…"

Red Count gave a bitter smile.

"Red Count! DIE!!!"

A thunderous blow slammed into him from behind.

A wave of Conqueror's Haki exploded outward, covering half the island.

Even though Red Count knew he was in danger, he wasn't one to go down without resistance.

He quickly turned, raising his umbrella to shield himself.

Using every last ounce of strength he had, he tried to block the attack.

But after fighting for eight days straight, how could he possibly withstand a full-powered blow from Garp, who had just arrived?

BOOM!!!

Red Count's body was sent flying.

He was hurled over a hundred meters away, blood spraying everywhere.

CRASH!

A violent impact echoed as he slammed into a pile of shattered stone.

Barely conscious, Red Count forced his eyes open one last time.

He saw Garp rapidly sprinting across the surface of the ocean using Geppo (Moonwalk).

Then he glanced to his side—Kong was only one meter away.

So close… yet so far.

With a sigh of defeat, he closed his eyes.

Darkness swallowed his consciousness.

Red Count collapsed—unconscious just one meter away from Kong.

His failure taught us all a lesson:

When you defeat an enemy, finish the job. Don't waste time gloating.

---

Garp quickly landed on the island.

He glanced at the unconscious Red Count, then at Kong, lying beside him.

He exhaled deeply.

"Just in time," he muttered.

Luckily, he had made it at the last possible second.

If Kong had died, it would've been a disaster for the Marines.

Garp immediately lifted Kong and slung him over his shoulder.

Then he grabbed Red Count by the collar and headed back toward the Marine warship.

---

"Vice Admiral Garp!"

The Marines on the approaching warships saw Garp emerging from the island and froze in shock.

"Quick! Get the Fleet Admiral back to Marine HQ for treatment!"

Garp shouted.

They returned on two Marine ships bound for Marineford.

Kong was rushed into emergency medical treatment.

As for Red Count—he was thrown into a prison cell onboard, bound in Sea Prism Stone cuffs.

If Red Count ever found out that the Sea Prism Stone used to restrain him was supplied by his good friend Charlotte, who knows how he would've reacted?

---

Back at Marine HQ, everything was already prepared.

A team of medical staff waited anxiously at the harbor.

"What's going on? Why so many doctors?"

Some of the Marines murmured in confusion, watching the tense atmosphere around the dock.

"Shut up. Orders from the top—no matter what happens, stay out of it and do your job."

A Marine captain walked past and silenced them.

With that warning, the Marines quickly dispersed.

Tsuru paced nervously at the harbor, her anxiety on full display.

The thing she feared the most had happened.

Kong's defeat absolutely must not be made public.

Not even the Marines themselves could be allowed to know.

If they found out that even the Fleet Admiral was defeated by a pirate, it would be a crippling blow to morale.

Think about it—

If the number one figure in the Marines was taken down by a pirate, what message would that send to the world?

This incident had to be completely sealed off.

---

Out at sea, the two Marine ships finally approached the port.

Garp stood on deck, unusually serious.

Beside him, Kong lay on a stretcher, eyes closed.

"Get him to the medical ward immediately. No one is to see him," Garp said grimly to his adjutant.

"Yes, sir."

As the ship docked, Kong's stretcher was carried off swiftly.

No one got a clear look at who it was.

But then the second figure disembarked.

And the port exploded in chaos.

Because what did they see?

Garp—Marine Hero Garp—was carrying someone.

Someone very familiar to all of them.

It was "Red the Aloof" Patrick Redfield, the infamous Red Count!

The same man who once rivaled the likes of the Whitebeard Pirates, Roger Pirates, Flying Sky Pirates, and even the Rockefeller Pirates, all by himself.

"Vice Admiral Garp captured the Red Count?!"

Someone shouted, and the news rippled across the base.

"That's really him?!"

Everyone stared at the bloodied, unconscious Red Count in disbelief.

"Vice Admiral Garp captured the Red Count!"

This time, no one doubted it.

---

Marine HQ was in an uproar.

The World Government was in an uproar.

The entire world was in an uproar.

The calm that had lasted a year across the seas was shattered by one explosive piece of news.

> "Red the Aloof – Patrick Redfield – Captured! Marine Hero Monkey D. Garp Makes His Move Once Again After Roger!"

The front page of the World News showed a photo of Red Count, beaten and bloodied, shackled in a cell.

Beside him stood Garp, face grim, personally escorting him into Impel Down, the world's greatest prison.

This marked the end of Red Count's long reign over the seas.

He had fallen—defeated, shackled, and locked away.

His downfall sent shockwaves through the pirate world.

Aspiring pirates were stunned.

"The Marine Hero is terrifying… pirates can't win against him!"

Countless people trembled upon seeing Garp next to the captured Red Count.

And they weren't wrong.

In the past year alone—

The Pirate King turned himself in—but it was Garp who handled him.

Everyone saw it.

When Golden Lion Shiki invaded Marine HQ, it was Garp and Sengoku who fought him off.

That, too, was seen by the world.

This time, even though Garp technically swooped in at the last second…

Would the World Government dare reveal the truth?

That the Fleet Admiral was nearly killed?

That if not for Garp's timely arrival, Marine HQ might have been mourning a great loss?

Of course not.

So, once again—

They gave all the credit to Garp.

And they didn't mind doing so.

Garp had no ambition. He didn't seek power or status.

Giving him the credit only helped boost the Marines' image.

And so, another legend of Garp was born.
