Chapter 443: Distributing the Devil Fruits (Part Three)
Charlotte returned to his senses and looked at Rachel, whose face had turned completely red from exertion.
The corner of his lips lifted in amusement.
He slid his right hand across the wrist of his left arm.
A large block of gold emerged from his [Castle Bracelet].
"Try it."
Charlotte placed the glittering mass of gold in front of Rachel.
As soon as her eyes landed on it, a strange emotion welled up inside her — a deep craving, a greedy desire.
Her pupils lit up.
She eagerly reached out and touched the gold.
And the moment her fingers made contact, her entire body seemed to tremble with excitement.
Her cells buzzed with energy.
The gold in Charlotte's hand began to melt, turning into liquid as it flowed across Rachel's fingers.
It quickly spread up her arm, coating her entire right arm in shining golden armor.
"Not bad," Charlotte nodded approvingly.
Rachel had shown excellent compatibility with the fruit on her very first try.
"Hehe! Daddy! I want more!"
Rachel was clearly delighted, but her eyes were already darting toward more gold.
Charlotte was stunned for a second.
Then, with a chuckle, he pulled out another large block of gold from the bracelet.
Rachel eagerly absorbed that too.
Then, she looked up at him again — her big eyes shimmering with hunger.
Charlotte was half-amused, half-exasperated.
It was becoming very clear…
> "This little greedy dragon's gonna rob me dry."
He sighed, then knocked lightly on Rachel's head.
"No being greedy! Here's the deal: when you can shape your gold into anything you imagine, I'll build you a golden house. Sound fair?"
Rachel's eyes lit up like stars.
That look — Charlotte had seen it before.
Greedy eyes. The kind only dragons or tycoons had.
"She's a little golden dragon in the making," Charlotte muttered.
"But Daddy, this isn't enough! It barely covers both my arms!"
Rachel pouted.
Charlotte reluctantly pulled out a third block of gold, three times larger than the previous two.
Rachel's eyes sparkled like treasure chests as she reached for it.
"Take it. But train seriously. Don't waste my expectations."
"Yes, yes! I won't let you down!"
Rachel said the words, but her eyes never once left the gold.
As soon as she touched it, liquid gold enveloped her — forming a shining armor like a Golden Saint.
Charlotte couldn't help but laugh.
But when Rachel saw that the gold only covered her lower half, she gave him a pitiful look.
This time, Charlotte didn't humor her.
He karate-chopped her on the head.
"Ow!"
Rachel rubbed her head, eyes watery.
"No more," Charlotte said sternly.
Rachel pouted.
Her eyes, however, kept darting to the Castle Bracelet on his wrist — scheming silently.
"Off you go. Next!"
Charlotte waved her away.
Rachel stomped off, her golden armor blindingly shiny under the lights.
Simon and Ackerman gawked at her.
They were practically drooling at the thought:
> "If we chiseled off a chunk, we'd be millionaires."
The gold on Rachel alone could easily be worth tens of millions of Berries.
Right now, she was the richest sibling on paper.
Well… as far as anyone knew.
Some of them likely had stashes hidden.
Especially that guy, Big Brother "K-something."
He definitely had secret funds.
Simon had seen him sneaking into Pleasure Street more than once, claiming it was for "inspections."
Simon wanted to go too, but K-sar always stopped him.
Makes sense — if Charlotte ever found out that K-sar took a seven-year-old to a brothel, he'd literally kill him.
Charlotte, unaware of his sons' inner thoughts, remained focused.
> "The world is entering chaos — these kids need strength to survive the war to come."
"Daisy, you're next."
Hearing her name, Daisy ran over excitedly.
Charlotte smiled gently.
"Pick the one you like."
She scanned the remaining Devil Fruits.
Her gaze stopped at the Weapon-Weapon Fruit, a Superhuman-type.
"Dad, I want this one!"
Charlotte looked over.
It was indeed the Weapon-Weapon Fruit — the same ability Baby-5 from the Donquixote Family once had in the original story.
In this life, it had ended up with Charlotte by accident.
A no-name pirate crew had arrogantly landed on Carmine Island, declaring they'd kill Charlotte and take his place.
He hadn't even cared at first — just another idiot, probably.
But then they fired a cannon at his castle.
That was a mistake.
He hadn't even needed Barrett.
With one slash, Charlotte erased the entire pirate from existence.
And somehow, this fruit had landed on his dinner table afterward.
Charlotte welcomed any pirate willing to "donate" Devil Fruits like that.
But sadly, Lady Luck wasn't so generous every time.
He handed the fruit to Daisy.
"This fruit requires good development. Be sure to consult with the Science Division often."
"I will."
Daisy nodded.
She took a bite — face scrunching from the awful taste — and forced the rest down bite by bite.
Then she raised her right hand.
Before everyone's eyes, it transformed into a dinner knife.
There was silence.
"…Is that a weapon?"
Everyone quietly pondered the question.
Well… it could kill someone. A butter knife's still a knife, right?
Daisy's face flushed red.
She'd wanted to summon a cool weapon — but had randomly thought of the dinner knife from breakfast.
She quickly turned her hand back to normal, embarrassed.
Charlotte smiled.
"Not bad! Summoning a weapon on your first try is already impressive."
