Chapter 20: Rojo Frock vs Leroy
While Frock was commanding the men, Leroy had spotted Jeanne at the top one of the Buildings. He didn't know how, he didn't know when. But he gave a nod to her. Knowing she'd be able to handle the men invading.
Leroy Looked back. Both the captains eyes meeting again. "How about you handle someone above your weight class and see how you fair" He said with a sarcastic sneer.
"Above my Weight Class! You?!" Frock let out a laugh "Har! Just come and try it!" Rojo said as he spread his arms. Gun still in hand.
Taking the bluff Leroy dashed forward, both fists extending and stretching backward due to his gomu gomu no mi!
"GOMU GOMU NO!!!!"
He then retracted both of his fists and slammed them into the exposed metal of the chest plate that Rojo wore! His fist utterly halting in its path!
"BALLISTA!"
He Didn't...Put enough strength into?! His eyes widened, that smile dropping for just a moment as suddenly!
A mace came hurling through the air! It was blunt one moment then suddenly! Spikes protruded from its surface before piercing into his forearm that he'd brought up to block with! The Spike cut into him!
Blood Dripped from the superficial cut! Before being thrown like a rag doll and slamming into a nearby building! The roof collapsing and falling on to him in the debris! The sound of chaos unfolded as Rojo stepped towards the rubble. Staying a few meters away as he showed that Leroy's fist had left an indentation into the metal
"If that had hit me straight on! It would've likely taken me down! But it seems you're no good against my Durasteel!"

As the crowd of pirates descended upon the streets Jeanne was nowhere to be seen. Her stall once housing a young woman with hookah and trinkets galore being knocked over by the crowd of brutes.
As one raised his cutlass to attack a young woman a high pitched whine was heard before... POP HSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
The man would fall, causing several of the pirates to stop in their tracks! "A sniper?", one of them called out before yet again the hissing noise was heard. Glinting on the rooftop was some odd device, hefted at the hip of a familiar face. Her once relaxed demeanor replaced with a stoic look of determination. 'Keep calm. Your aim true. And send those at the end of your barrel to hell.' Her father's words rung in her ears as she shoved something into the barrel of the cannon-like device.
"Fuoco Dispersione Sparo" She shouted to the Heavens as she pulled the trigger on the device. POP HSSSSSSSSS A volley of shrapnel erupted from the barrel!
The pirates noticed her position on the rooftops above them too late. Shrapnel from the barrel pelted the crowd of pirates as the hissing was heard once more. The weaker ones went down, but some of the stronger grunts remained.
"RIPETERE" She shouted once more, already loading her cannon with another volley as she leapt into the air above the thinning crowd, legs seeming to disappear in a miraculous puff of steam.
She launched another volley onto their heads, this time knocking down the rest as she landed away from the falling men. She didn't waste any time though.
Jeanne slung her makeshift weapon over her shoulder and leapt to another roof. Her lungs burned as she landed. Years of labor had certainly built her body to be stronger than someone who sat around and didn't move.
But she was still nowhere near the level of some of the stronger Laborers at the docks, or even a Fishman! Let alone Leroy.
The Church! A Building that surely people would be attempting to flee to. It was a monument the community used. Serving as a house of faith to a vague deity, but also as a communal house where many feast were held.
Jeanne tossed her Weapon like a hammer throw, spinning around once and letting it fly into a Window! Puffing into steam again just as she was spotted again! The Distinct crack of flint locks firing and impacting in the spot she'd left a mere second before the triggers were pulled!
"Hah…Hah...Hah…Shit…" Anxiety wracked her brain. Eyes flinching as she heard a volley of bullets impact into the brick of the church tower where she was.
"C'mon Arquette…You got this." She tried to hype herself up and peaking over the ledge of the open tower where she saw a group of 10 sitting and waiting.
She suddenly shrunk back "No I don't I do not!"
'I made this crap for the fun of it! It isn't lethal in the slightest! She grit her teeth as she began to shake "That guy is out there fighting, and he's not even from here! And here I am, having lived here and doing nothing!"
Clenching her teeth she raised her hand and began to produce steam. The Power of The Joki Joki No Mi. Also known by the name Steam Steam Fruit.
She created a Wall of steam, acting as a barrier and filling the entire tower. She was lucky that any steam she produced she had better visibility than a normal person looking in!
She waited for the bullets to fly through the wall of steam and hit the bell behind her! Peaking out she saw that the Pirates were in the middle of reloading their rifles before Tossing them down and beginning to run down the Street towards the Church
"Quick!"
She screamed to herself before firing the scrap yet again, hitting the Pirates!
Shot after shot, she was quickly over doing the capacity the makeshift steam propelled cannon could handle! Metal heating up quickly!
But, Eventually the Pirates were handled.
She loaded a single ball into the barrel and dashed towards where she saw the young man and Red Coat! Please let her not be too late!
Kirk flinched at the sound of… what seemed to be some sort of pops? It was like listening to little pressure filled bombs going off, like a balloon made of metal that was finally 'popped'. It sounded like when Leroy punched that Marine in Shells!
He looked up as he spotted some movement in the air, watching the girl from before hop down from the building. His head jerked back in surprise, had she just… what happened to her legs?
Kirk only himself stare in further horror for a minute or so longer before shaking his head quickly and continuing on with his mission. He would question later. Right now, he was supposed to be protecting the civilians. After swooping a kid from nearly getting hurt some some debris of Leroy's fight, he continued on running.
The news had spread fast enough, fortunately, helped by the fact the whole island could practically hear the violence, screams, and attacks. As long at Kirk kept hearing Leroy's voice, he would keep going.
