ONE PIECE: Dawn of a New Era

Chapter 17: Join My Crew!

"..Interesting... very interesting. Though I don't see why someone would need to... have something peel vegetables for them." Maybe he was just too cheap, knowing he could skin vegetables for free.

"Don't tell me what to do! That's my Job!" Leroy suddenly yelled as- YOINK The money was gone, and he walked out and had taken just the right amount of money from the fishmens hand. He popped a few pieces in his mouth as he held the comically oversized bag. Hearing what they were saying before suddenly saying out loud.

"We actually stole the ship by the way." He said bluntly. Having overheard the twos conversation, even from over thirty feet away.

Just as he was talking, he was looking over the table of wares. Realizing that in fact the woman was the one making them. Noticing the tools next to her with his keen eye "Beat up some marines for it too!" He popped more into it. It seemed like the bag was quickly diminishing. That void in his stomach never lessening

He made sure that the only person who could hear the crimes he was confessing to was only those next to him

"Oyoyoyoy! Don't joke around like that!", she said, nervously laughing it off. Surely he was joking about that. These two couldn't be pirates capable of taking down Marines! They were too young and fresh faced, and there were only two of them! "Two young, well mannered men such as yourselves couldn't have possibly done something as crazy as that!", she says still in disbelief.

"No joke! Shells town! You'll hear about it eventually!"

"Oh whats this!" He said shooting his hand forward and gently picking up a toy "So cool! You're really go-" He swallows the candy before speaking again "You're really good at this! You should join my crew!" He then nonchalantly shoveled another handful followed by a loud CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH

Kirk was THIS close to strangling Leroy already. They had JUST got here and he spent TOO MUCH MONEY on some STUPID candy. He shouted at the captain once more as he ran off with the money, eyebrow twitching angrily before he groaned deeply while pinching the bridge of his nose.

Kirk growled and swiftly delivered a blow to the back of the shorter man's head, CLEARLY trying to tell him to shut up and knock it off.

"OWCH DAMN IT! " He said as the fist slammed into the back of his head. It didn't truly hurt. But it was surprising

Kirk quickly put on a smile and added on his own nervous chuckle as he looked up at Jeanne, trying to play off his mess up.

"Sorry, ma'am! He's a really bad jokester. God forbid he tries to become a comedian! No no, he is just messing around, I promise."

"We aren't pirates either, of course. Just two friends wanting to see the world together! As close as ever! Even if one of them can't keep his yapping mouth shut and make people think we are crazy! Eeehahahahaa!"

"What'du fuckin' do that for!" He rubbed the back of his head a bit of a scowl came over his face. Ironically, it definitely seemed like Leroy swore like a sailor "No we are pirates! And I want you to join my crew!"

He yet again said it, just loud enough for Jeanne and Kirk to hear. "I mean look at this place! It's dreadfully boring...You'd could seek your dream!"

That was...A bit of a surprise. The first thing wasn't "Hey you're useful! Join us!" or "You machines! I want them! Join!" It was "Your dreams could be a reality"

"Shut UP, Leroy!" He was winding back his fist yet again, ready to even knock the sour candies out of that loose jaw, but paused as Jeanne laughed out.

Jeanne watched everything unfold in front of her and she couldn't help but just sit there. Jaw practically on her table. Well one was incredibly insistent they were pirates, and the other was saying they were just joking. She sighed and took another drag from her hookah before letting out a laugh

"Pshihahaha! Me? In a pirate crew! You are funny.", she says, her laugh like a whistling tea kettle at the start.

"Listen if you guys are pirates, I'm not fixing to call the marines or nothing. This town is a bit sleepy though. It's not a good target for raids or anything like that.", she says as she kicks back in her little cart. She would sigh a bit. He was right though. This town was stagnating her.

No-one wanted anything wild and out there. Most of her money was made on making relatively simple gadgets, mostly for children... Maybe she could venture out. These thoughts swirled in her mind a bit before she let out another deep sigh. No. She had to keep her head down.

Her father spent all that time and money getting her here to this Blue. What would he think if she just threw herself into danger like that? Joining a Pirate crew... "I'll have to decline your offer to join your crew as well young man.", she says with a bit of a forced smile. "This life can be a bit dull, but it's mine."

Kirk sighed heavily. He was going to have to talk some sense into the captain so they could avoid this situation. Of course, he had caught onto the complete shock of the girl in front of them, it was a miracle that she didn't run off and start warning people.

"Oh, thank you, miss!" He looked terribly relieved as the merchant mentioned she wouldn't go looking for the guards. "I promise you, we aren't here to steal or raid. We happen to just be stopping by to restock, that's all! I'm sorry for his nonsense, again, I'll sort him out."

Though having a pleasant smile, anyone could see the dark aura radiating off of him. Leroy was definitely about to get chewed out. In one swift move, Kirk grabbed onto the back of Leroy's collar and started to walk off toward the other markets, going deeper into town all the while dragging the other man by the scruff like a sack of trash.
