Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Steel Defense and Monster-like Strength!
In the forest, the nun stepped out, her face filled with shock as she watched the wolf and the bear, her eyes wide as she stared at Linlin's back.
Just how powerful is she?
As the days passed, people finally began to witness Charlotte Linlin's terrifying strength.
"Have you heard? She originally just wanted to swat a mosquito off Giant Aili, but ended up seriously injuring him."
"Yeah, she's one scary person!"
"Uh-oh, she's coming!"
"Everyone, run!"
The children gossiping about Linlin froze as they saw her rushing toward them. Their faces drained of color, and they turned on their heels, sprinting away.
"No, don't come closer! Linlin!" Helding cried as he ran, with Linlin close behind.
"Ahhhh! We're going to be killed by Linlin!" Gaerz screamed, raising his hands as he ran behind Helding.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Please don't chase me, Linlin!" A child from the long-armed tribe cried out as he ran behind them.
He regretted taking someone else's breakfast.
Time passed quickly, like sand slipping through fingers—no matter how hard you try, it can't be held.
October flew by in the blink of an eye.
At this moment, Linlin chased after Helding and the others, just like she had done before.
In Elbaf, the giant village.
Giant Casey and his companions sat on logs, laughing as they watched Linlin chase and play with the giant cubs.
The giants had already accepted Linlin, and her peculiar companion as well.
However, they weren't concerned with how Linlin frightened the giant cubs into a pale, fear-stricken frenzy.
After all, before Linlin developed her appetite disorder, she could still be reasoned with, and wouldn't make irreparable mistakes.
So no one paid much attention to a cub who was just a little too powerful.
"Let's play with Linlin!"
"Boom boom boom!"
Linlin sprinted quickly through Elbaf village, with a group of giant cubs running away from her, utterly losing their dignity as giants.
On a massive log, Roy sat watching the chaotic scene between Linlin and the cubs.
[Charlotte Linlin:
Relationship: Best Friend
Affinity: 260!
Affinity Points: 650!]
Since October, while continuously making delicious meals for Linlin, Roy had been building their friendship.
His affinity with her skyrocketed to 260, and every 20 affinity points after reaching 60, he was rewarded with either a card flip or a chance to enhance his card effects.
He chose to use all of his chances to enhance the card effects, and as a result, his [Steel Defense] ability had reached 100%, making him as tough as Linlin herself. (He even had an extra chance, but more on that later.)
After unlocking the full effect of the talent card, it would continue to grow along with Roy's development.
Every 20 affinity points also earned him 50 affinity points, and the total gain from Linlin was 550 points.
In addition, he had built a relationship with Gaerz, earning 100 points, bringing the total to 650.
However, he didn't immediately focus on solving the strange time-space rules he was dealing with.
These points allowed him to stabilize the chaotic time-space explosion for over fifty years, but the storyline hadn't even started yet!
Most of the beautiful, named characters in the original story hadn't been born yet, so Roy didn't want to wait for the story to begin. He thought it would be best to develop in Elbaf first, and then take advantage of his time-space rules to trigger an explosion. If he was lucky, he could directly travel to the story's time. That would be great!
So, he decided to hold off on dealing with the problem until he reached 1522.
"I wonder why my affinity value isn't increasing anymore? How high does it need to go before it's maxed out?" Roy pondered, staring at a light screen only he could see.
[Host: Harold Roy
Talent Cards: [Steel Defense (Orange)], [Monster Strength (Orange)], [Observation Haki Talent (Green)], [Armament Haki Talent (White)], [Charm (Blue)].
Friends: Charlotte Linlin, Gaerz.
Affinity with Charlotte Linlin: 260!
Affinity with Gaerz: 65!]
I forgot to mention—after reaching 100% Steel Defense, Roy also gained an extra opportunity, which he chose to invest in Linlin's [Monster Strength]. However, since this was the first time, it was only at 10% effect.
As for Gaerz, Roy had built a relationship with him, and after flipping Gaerz's card, he realized that he couldn't equip the giant tribe's talent.
This made him have a "conscience" moment, and he stopped any further attempts at courting Gaerz.
Perhaps the designer thought that the plug and socket didn't match, rejecting his demonic request.
"Roy, wanna come practice swordsmanship together?" Came Helding's shout from afar.
Roy turned to look, responded with a nod, picked up the sword lying nearby, jumped down from the large log, and ran toward Helding.
Yes, you heard that right—an ordinary human child was practicing swordsmanship with the giant cubs.
With the two talents from Charlotte Linlin, Roy had already reached a level where he could spar with the cubs.
His defense completely surpassed theirs, and even with just a tenth of Linlin's strength, he could easily overpower the young giants.
"Did you shake off Linlin?" Roy asked with a smile.
At the mention of Linlin, Helding shuddered, quickly scanning his surroundings.
Linlin had gone after Gaerz, and he couldn't see her.
Helding silently wished for poor Gaerz's safety and smiled helplessly.
He had been so scared that it had become an automatic reaction.
"Stop it, I'm not bullying her," Helding muttered, trying to justify himself with a shameless grin.
Roy gave him a comical smile and waved his sword.
"Oh? Are we starting now?" Giant Casey said in surprise from a distance.
Several giants looked over.
If you're talking about a lamb's home and monster-like children, besides Charlotte Linlin, it was Roy.
Though Roy was a human child, his physical defense had grown incredibly strong in just ten months.
And recently, Roy had also released an incredible burst of power.
"Helding, don't embarrass me, this time you have to win. You can't lose again!" A giant swordsman, Reding, came over, his giant weapon at his waist.
Reding, seeing his disciple, shouted loudly.
"I'm just sparring. There's no need to declare a winner. Friendship first!" Helding responded bitterly. He had been beaten up by Roy so many times lately that it left a psychological scar.
If Reding had been nearby, Helding would have never challenged Roy to a sword duel.
Since Roy displayed his powerful defense, Reding had taken an interest in him and began training him in swordsmanship.
Linlin couldn't teach him; she was a born ruler.
So Reding had set his sights on Roy.
But at first, Roy only had impressive defense. His strength wasn't anywhere near Linlin's level.
That's why, at first, when Roy sparred with Helding, he mostly just "took the hits" or ended up tiring Helding out.
But once Roy gained Linlin's Monster Strength, Helding was the one who suffered. Now, it was his turn to be beaten.
In the ring, a big and small pair of kids stood facing each other, their swords raised.
"Giant Swordsman, Helding, I look forward to your guidance!"
"Roy, I look forward to your guidance!"
The two said in unison, bowing before the sword duel began!
Well, when Roy didn't have the monster strength yet, he did just "sit there" taking hits, but it wasn't too bad because his defense was so high that Helding's sword felt like a tickle.
