Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Nami!
Chapter 82: Nami!
After bringing Monet from the North Sea to Loguetown, Buggy only told Monet about Goa Kingdom and a pirate with a straw hat, then let her leave on her own.
As for whether Monet could ultimately become a member of the Straw Hat Pirates, Buggy said he was looking forward to seeing it.
Of course, this prank of changing the Straw Hat Pirates' navigator wasn't enough with just Monet; he also had to cut off Nami's side. This was the reason Buggy was leading the Red Nose Pirates to Arlong Park.
After telling everyone his destination, the "Thor" left Destin and set off in the direction indicated on the sea chart.
"Arlong Park? Brother Buggy, isn't Arlong Park the territory of the fish-man Arlong? Are you going there specifically to see him?" On the deck, Hancock asked with great surprise, holding a wanted poster of the fish-man Arlong.
"See him? Hahahaha, I wouldn't even go out of my way to see the Fish-Man Jinbe, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. How could I possibly make this trip just to see him? I'm not going there to see anyone. Of course, you could say I am, but I don't really care if I see them or not. I just simply dislike guys who crawl on others and suck their blood," as Buggy spoke, a deep disgust appeared in his eyes.
For Buggy, even a major boss like Donquixote Doflamingo in the world of pirates was not someone he disliked. But someone like Arlong, who used a little bit of strength greater than ordinary people to enslave others, was something that always displeased Buggy.
He had never had any designs on Nami, but that didn't mean Buggy liked to see her being bullied. Changing the Straw Hat Pirates' navigator was just an excuse to make a move. The real reason was to fulfill a wish of his own, a wish he had made while watching the anime.
Less than half a day after leaving Destin, Betty, who had gone up to the crow's nest out of boredom, suddenly shouted loudly, saying that she had spotted a small boat ahead with a fainted little girl on it.
Without caring if Buggy agreed or not, Betty demanded that Daz Bonez slow down the ship. He then stopped the "Thor" next to the small boat that was drifting over.
Stopping Betty, who was about to jump directly onto the boat to save the little girl, Law opened his "ROOM." With a single swap, he scooped the unconscious little girl onto the deck.
Seeing the little girl in Law's arms and sensing her presence, Buggy walked over.
"Law, put her down!"
Although Law had never shown any particular expression towards Buggy's words, he had always done as he was told.
After Law put the girl down, Buggy then said to her, "When a person is nervous, their heart beats faster. This sound is generally only audible to the person themselves. However, that only applies to normal situations. In front of strong people like us, let alone the sound of a heartbeat, we can even clearly distinguish the almost imperceptible sound of breathing. Little sister, you could fool Betty and the others because their training is not yet up to par, but you're still far from being able to fool us."
"Although I don't know why you're pretending to be unconscious, little sister, if you don't open your eyes soon, I don't mind turning you into a toy first and then questioning you," Hancock, who had come over to the little girl's side with Buggy, added.
Evidently, Hancock's words scared the little girl quite a bit. The little girl hurriedly opened her eyes and then, with a frightened expression, grabbed Law's trouser leg while looking at Hancock and Buggy.
"Introduce yourself. Where are you from, what's your name, why were you pretending to be unconscious, and what was your purpose in doing so?" Paula had also drifted over at some point and asked, her eyes full of killing intent as she stared at the little girl.
Not only that, but as she spoke, the thorns on her fingers extended and pointed directly at the little girl's neck.
"Paula, don't scare the little sister like that, or I'll get angry," Betty, having rarely seen a girl smaller than herself, felt a surge of protectiveness.
"Alright, alright, I won't scare her. But she must say what needs to be said." Although she retracted her ability, Paula continued to stare at the little girl.
Buggy was very satisfied with Paula's reaction. This was how an intelligence officer should be.
"My name is Nami, from Cocoyasi Village in the East Blue. May I ask, are you the Red Nose Pirates?" The fearful look in the little girl's eyes was suddenly replaced by a powerful resolve.
"If there isn't a second Red Nose Pirates crew, then the one you're talking about is us," Buggy, who had recognized the orange-haired girl from the beginning, replied with great interest, nodding.
"Can I join you and become one of you?" Nami asked, looking at Buggy with eyes full of strong anticipation.
Faced with Nami's request to join, Buggy was a bit dumbfounded. Is this damn script being read correctly? Doesn't this little girl hate pirates the most? How could she be so insistent on joining my pirate crew?
"Why? I really want to know why," Buggy asked Nami very seriously.
"I want revenge, but I don't have the strength. The newspapers say that the Red Nose Pirates are the most protective pirate crew in the whole world. As long as I join you, you will help me get revenge, right?"
Seeing the gnashing hatred in Nami's eyes, Buggy wasn't surprised. After all, he had known everything from the beginning. However, the cold eyes of Law, who was standing to the side, flickered with surprise.
"Little sister, can you tell us what special skills you have? And who do you want to get revenge on?" Paula's expression changed, and she asked Nami with a very amiable tone.
But don't think for a moment that this woman was moved by the look in Nami's eyes. Changing her expression was just one of Paula's common tricks.
"I know your pirate crew doesn't have a navigator yet. My navigation skills are amazing. I started sailing the East Blue alone when I was nine, and I'm thirteen now." Nami was very confident in her navigation skills.
"Oh, that's really impressive. So who is the target of your revenge?" Paula praised her and then continued to ask.
"The fish-man Arlong!" When this name was spoken, everyone present saw fear and hatred in Nami's eyes.
"Captain, my intelligence gathering will conclude for now. The rest will need to be collected in that Cocoyasi Village. Of course, that's only if you think it's necessary," her smiling face gone, Paula said to Buggy with an expression that said "I don't want to."
"Hahaha, thank you for your hard work, my intelligence officer. When we get to another island, how about I have Mihawk accompany you on a shopping trip?" Buggy asked with a grin.
"Really?" Now it was Paula's turn to be pleasantly surprised.
"Hey, Hancock, can I cut down that long-tongued woman next to you?" Paula was happy, but Mihawk's face was not looking so good.
"I don't mind," shrugging, Hancock stood in front of Buggy and replied with a look of battle readiness.
"Ahem, Captain, shouldn't we solve the matter with this little girl first?" Hawkins, seeing the situation starting to go off-topic, immediately stood up and forcefully made his presence known.
