Once a mobster, now Masachika Kuze

Chapter 106: The calm was over

Ryan remained staring at his cell phone for a few seconds, turning the device between his fingers as a low laugh escaped his lips.

"I already found her absurdly sexy since the day I saw her as a Bunny Girl..." he murmured to himself, a playful glint in his eyes. "Now that I know she's THE Mai Sakurajima... I think an internal fetish has just awakened within me."

He barely finished the sentence and looked away, noticing Gojo and Geto approaching. The pair walked at a leisurely pace, Gojo ahead, waving from afar with his characteristic smile.

"Hey there, Ryan!" Gojo's lively voice cut through the air, filled with his usual confidence.

Ryan raised his hand in a casual gesture, responding in a calm voice. "Hey."

The two approached, and Geto was the first to speak, his serene tone contrasting with Gojo's expansive energy.

"I left some Shikigamis taking care of Riko, and Satoru and I took a walk around the block. The perimeter is safe."

Gojo nodded in agreement before adding, puffing out his chest with playful arrogance.

"With us here, Riko is the most well-protected person in the world." He gestured exaggeratedly, as if it were obvious.

Ryan smiled wryly, but inside, his presumption was even greater.

"In reality..." he thought to himself. "WITH ME here, she is the most protected person in the world. After all..."

He closed his eyes for a moment, reflecting, and then turned, his voice coming out more serious and calculating.

"I think it's better if we stay inside the school... You know, just in case something happens."

Geto chuckled lightly, his tone slightly mocking. "Yeah, you're right, but I think it's unlikely to happen."

Without further ado, they headed inside the school, walking through the silent corridors until they reached the pool area. The place was empty, perfect for them to talk while waiting for Riko's classes to finish.

Time passed slowly and monotonously, until a few hours later, Gojo was leaning on the edge of the pool, fiddling with his cell phone while kicking the water with his tip of the shoe. His impatient tone echoed through the room as he spoke to someone on the phone.

"Aaah! It would be much safer to go to Jujutsu High School now!" He complained, puffing, frustration evident in his voice.

Next to him, Geto had a tired expression, while Ryan remained seated near Kuroi, watching the scene without much involvement.

The drawn-out voice of the man on the other side of the line echoed through Gojo's cell phone.

"As much as I want to, they are orders from Tengen-sama."

Gojo rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue, his impatience growing.

The man continued, relentless: "He said to fulfill all of Amanai Riko's demands."

The call ended abruptly, leaving Gojo even more irritated.

"Tsk." He grumbled, spinning the cell phone in his hands with an air of dissatisfaction.

Ryan, who until then had only been watching the scene, let a comment escape naturally, his tone full of sarcasm.

"Come on... why the hell do you have a flip phone?"

Gojo turned immediately, the frustration still clear in his voice.

"I find it simpler to use, and that's it!" He replied, almost as if he were defending himself. "And let's face it, Riko is the epitome of a spoiled brat."

Geto sighed, his voice sounding more serious and calm in comparison.

"Don't be like that, Satoru... Despite what she said, after the assimilation, she will live as Tengen-sama, in the depths of Jujutsu High School, serving as the foundation of the barriers."

Kuroi looked away, a heavy sigh escaping her lips. Her expression showed a contained sadness, as if she had been holding something for a long time.

Geto continued, his tone softer now.

"Let's do what she wants... it's part of our mission."

Gojo tilted his head, absorbing the words, when Kuroi suddenly stood up, her voice filled with an emotion she was trying to hide.

"Riko-sama has no family." She clenched her fists tightly, her voice trembling as she recalled. "There was an accident when she was little... I've been taking care of her ever since."

The tension in the atmosphere became palpable.

"I want her, at least, to be able to spend as much time as possible with her friends..." Kuroi finished, her determination clear despite the emotion in her voice.

Geto smiled gently, his eyes kind.

"So, you are her family."

Kuroi widened her eyes slightly, her mouth opening for a moment, and a slight blush rose to her cheeks.

"Yes." She admitted, almost in a whisper.

Ryan, who was watching the interaction beside her, tilted his head and murmured in a low and provocative tone.

"Trying to get on her good side, Geto?"

Geto closed his eyes and replied immediately, without hesitation.

"Of course not."

Gojo approached, carefree as always, scratching his hair while asking:

"Suguru... and your curses that are watching her?"

Geto just turned his head to him, while Gojo rested an arm on his shoulder, continuing with a slightly envious tone.

"Ah, I wish I could share senses with them, like Mei-san..."

Ryan frowned slightly, muttering to himself. "Mei?"

But Geto didn't even pay attention to his comment. He continued, his tone carefree at first, but slightly hesitant at the end.

"But they will warn if something... strange happens."

It was at that moment that something changed. Geto's voice lost some of its usual firmness. His eyes narrowed slightly, as if an uncomfortable sensation suddenly hit him.

Silence hung for a few seconds, until his expression hardened.

"Ryan. Satoru."

The two immediately turned their attention to him.

Geto didn't need to say anything else before moving. His tone was now serious, almost urgent.

"Let's hurry to where Riko-chan is."

Ryan stood up unhurriedly, his expression still carrying a trace of nonchalance.

"Did something happen?" He asked, although he already knew the answer.

Geto started walking, his steps firm and heavy.

"Two were exorcised."

Ryan blinked.

And then, in an instant, he acted.

Without hesitation, he grabbed Kuroi by the waist and lifted her easily, his movements quick and precise.

"Wake up and run, Gojo!" He exclaimed, his voice now filled with an urgency that he did not have before.

Gojo, without wasting time, straightened up, his expression changing to something more serious.

The moment of calm was over.
