Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Demonic Cult

In Murim world, there are many sects and factions.

Among them, there are six clans that are closely linked to the demonic cult.

The dark clan, the sword clan, the spring clan, the sound clan, the poison clan and the saber clan.

Because one of the former cult leaders died without leaving a male heir to take the position of next leader, his daughter had to take that position.

This created a lot of chaos and unrest within the cult, which began to weaken as a result.

These six clans took advantage of this opportunity and in exchange for stabilizing the cult, they offered the leader a peculiar deal.

She would marry six men from these clans and give birth to their offspring.

In this way, the next leader of the cult would be one of these six clans.

Similarly, the next cult leaders maintained this tradition, marrying the daughters of the six clans and fathering the next generation of cult leaders.

This gave the six clans elevated control and influence in the cult.

Each of the offspring intended to be cult leaders would be sent to their respective clans and trained until they reached the age where they would enter the demonic cult.

Every ten years, the academy opens, with the main masters of the demonic cult at the head.

The goal is to hold a competition to push the initiates' martial arts to the limit.

This year in particular, the competition would turn into a carnage as the descendants of the six clans would participate and among them, the next leader of the cult would emerge.

A couple of days later, a large crowd numbering around a thousand people stood orderly in front of the academy gate.

Most of these individuals belonged to the small clans affiliated with the demonic cult.

At the front of these people stood six teenagers of about fifteen years of age.

These were the six children of the cult leader and the heirs of the six clans.

"They are all so loud."

A man with red hair and a red beard appeared on the bleachers as he riveted his eyes on the people below.

"They came here without the resolve to die?"

The man blasted his aura, which made these people tremble.

"That red hair...is the left guardian!"

"Isn't he one of the ten strongest of the demonic cult?"

"Wasn't he among the five strongest?"

...

"Isn't there a name tag with my name on it?"

Yeo Woon stood in front of a booth where a young man was handing out name tags with numbers to each of the participants.

"Yes, I don't have any name tags for the seventh prince.

Looks like you'll have to wait until we find one."

Logically, as the son of the cult leader, Yeon Woon was also supposed to have a name tag of his own instead of a random number, just like the heirs of the six clans.

"This must be one of the tricks of the six clans.

They don't want me in the same line as them?"

Yeo Woon thought to himself.

"Understood, I'll wait."

Standing in a corner, he simply waited.

"Nothing positive will come out of having a conflict with them from the beginning.

They were the bastards who tried to kill me when they had the chance.

They'd probably kill me right away if they saw me.

Hmp! Even with all your tricks I've come this far, you bastards.

I assure you that I'm going to be stronger than anyone in this demon academy!"

...

"The tag with the number 7...that guy is the heir candidate who doesn't belong to the six clans, right?"

"Rumor has it that he hasn't mastered any martial arts style."

"Then, wouldn't he be the first to fail?"

Yeo Woon heard the whispers and simply snorted.

"I'll let them laugh at me for the time being."

A black-haired boy who had just picked up a number tag noticed Yeo Woon for a moment before turning around with a mysterious smile on his face as he seemingly stared into nothingness.

Suddenly, the sound of horns echoed through the stands, announcing the entrance of the cult leader.

"Everyone quiet!"

Suddenly, a man dressed in a yellow robe with two men standing on either side of him appeared before the crowd before sitting in the main seat.

The right guardian and the left guardian each stood on either side of the cult leader while the center guardian, a man dressed in a white mask, bowed as he announced.

"My lord, all is ready."

The cult leader rose from his seat as he released his aura.

"You are all responsible for the future of this cult.

We welcome you."

His voice traveled throughout the area and everyone heard it clearly.

"In this place you will train and bond and become the power of the cult!"

"Waaaah!"

"For the demonic cult!"

"For the demonic cult!"

The cult leader nodded before turning to leave.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Yeo Woon at the back of the crowd.

Giving him a single glance, he turned and walked away.

"To think that the first time I saw him, I would only see his cold eyes...although I wasn't expecting anything anyway.

He's the person who didn't even show up after my mother's death."

"Now that the lord's congratulatory speech is over, let's begin properly."

The left guardian looked at the crowd and spoke.

Seeing that the people below did not stop chattering among themselves even after he spoke, he became enraged and roared at them while releasing his aura.

"Aren't they going to stand up straight!?"

Seeing the enraged guardian, they all stood up straight and didn't dare to continue speaking.

"I'm going to keep it simple so listen to me carefully.

The academy will last four years and will consist of six stages.

After each stage, there will be a test and you will only have one chance to pass it."

"What?"

"We only have one chance?"

"If we can't get through on the first try we fail?"

"Looks like they got it.

Heh! That's right! Those who don't pass will be expelled instantly."

The Left Guardian continued to explain the next tests and their respective rewards.

While everyone was focused on the bleachers, no one noticed as an intruder entered a five-story pagoda.

This was the library of the demonic academy and here all their secret manuals and martial techniques were recorded.

Disciples who passed the first test would have access to the second floor and could stay there for a day to memorize the martial technique of their choice.

Noah passed the guards at the gate with ease and appeared behind the guardian of the second floor, who was sitting next to a large jade tombstone with a poem written in ancient Chinese engraved on its surface and sword marks that seemed randomly made on its back.

Noah put his hand on the librarian's head and the librarian froze completely.

He then searched all the books on the second floor in the Nexus database before standing in front of the tombstone.

A slight wave of willpower shot out of his body and swept the tombstone.

"Beep!"

"A three-dimensional image of the target has been created.

Saving the model to the database."

What looked like randomly made sword marks on the back of the tombstone were actually instructions for a very profound sword technique created by the cult's founder, Cheon Ma, 800 years ago.

But no one could understand anything about these techniques as someone had deliberately made cuts on it.

But with three-dimensional mapping, Noah could separate the various marks to find out which ones were left by Cheon Ma.

Leaving the second floor, he entered the second floor and did the same with the guardian of that floor before scanning all the books before scanning the second tombstone.

Each floor had one of these tombstones and each of them had a part of Cheon Ma's sword techniques.

Having copied all the contents of the library, Noah left the place without anyone sensing his presence and slipped into a hermetically sealed underground vault.

Turning himself into a shadow, he slipped through the holes in the door and passed through to the other side.

Inside the vault there were only pieces of human skin, a severed arm and a box exposed on a table.

Sword Demon was one of the powers of the demonic cult in ancient times and was recognized as one of the five strongest men in his time but still he almost died at the hands of a man who appeared out of nowhere.

Blade god was originally one of Cheon Yeo Woon's subordinates from a different timeline where his path to becoming the cult leader was much easier.

Somehow, Blade god managed to get his hands on a Time Watch and traveled back in time to different alternate timelines to gather resources, perfect his saber techniques and prevent Cheon Yeo Woon's rise.

During his travels, he managed to perfect his saber skills to the maximum.

It was he who confronted the sword demon and after exchanging blows and seeing how he could only cut off one arm, he vowed to return later after perfecting his technique, disappearing at the sight of the sword demon.

The human skin and arm belonged to the sword demon and had the Blade god technique engraved on its surface.

Noah released his willpower on the skin and arm and let Nexus create 3D models before saving them in the database.

He then opened the wooden box and scanned the three books inside, which contained an analysis of the sword demon on the Blade god technique.

Next, Noah opened a portal to a cave whose entrance was sealed by a stone.

This was the punishment cave where disciples who had broken the rules were isolated.

Passing the two guards who guarded the place, he became a breeze passing through the gaps between the rock and the entrance.

Peering into the dark cave, Noah deployed his divine sense to inspect the walls, noting a hollow area.

Placing his hand on the rock, he released his power of destruction, disintegrating the stone wall into dust.

On the other side a dark passageway was revealed.

Traveling down the passageway for a while, he came to a circular room with some glowing stones on the ceiling and a stone pillar in the center.

"Nexus! Scan all the glowstones."

Each of these stones was inscribed with some phrases that read separately would seem meaningless.

In reality, among these stones filled with random phrases was the breathing technique that accompanied Cheon Ma's sword technique.

"Scan complete! Deciphering...

Decrypting complete!

Breathing technique added to the database."

"Okay, I'm done here but before I go..."
