Chapter 141: Balancing Water and Light element!

Evelyn listened to his explanations and nodded, "Got it. Then fill it up with your espera. I will try to maintain the balance afterwards."

Oliver nodded in return and placed his hand on the smooth surface of the white talisman. Slowly, he began channeling his water-attributed espera into the paper beneath.

A warm current flowed from his hand to the paper talisman, filling it halfway.

After making sure it was filled halfway and he was satisfied, Oliver withdrew his hand and glanced at Evelyn, who stood beside him.

Recognizing his signal, she stepped forward to the talisman and placed her palm above the paper. Closing her eyes, she carefully channeled the light-attributed espera inside her body into the paper talisman, gradually filling the already half-filled talisman.

As her espera merged with the talisman, she could sense the circuits inside. Her light-attributed espera had already begun to react with the espera already present in it.

The task required a delicate balance of focus and control, a harmony between the elements that was difficult to achieve.

Evelyn could feel the subtle push and pull of energies within the talisman, akin to trying to balance while walking on a tightrope where even the slightest misstep could prove disastrous.

She concentrated intently, and did her best to carefully regulate the amount of espera she was channeling and how properly the circuit was being filled. An overdose of her espera might just destroy everything on the talisman, after all.

Her brows knitted in concentration as a bead of sweat trickled down her forehead as the task at hand proved to be far more daunting than she had anticipated. She tried to maneuver her espera within the talisman, seeking a way to completely charge it without triggering an adverse reaction.

She could feel that the water element was particularly sensitive and would react turbulently to any external changes or any stimulus provided.

She found herself in a really sticky situation. She had already filled the talisman with as much espera as she could without disturbing the already present water espera much.

But now she felt that if she were to send any more of it inside, it would cause a catastrophic reaction. Thus, she was slowly trying to stir the espera she had already sent into the talisman.

By moving them in the circuits, she was trying to find a way for her to completely fill the talisman without breaking it or causing an imbalance and reacting adversely with the water element.

Watching her frowning with closed eyes, Oliver could somewhat guess her struggle and understand the difficulty.

Even he was aware of how difficult the task Sigfor had assigned to them. It would be a miracle if someone managed to complete it in just one attempt.

Evelyn still lacked the necessary control over her espera, making it unlikely that she could succeed in doing it in just one day.

Not to mention the fact that she was dealing with the water element espera, which was especially sensitive among the basic common elements.

Wind and water were notably more sensitive compared to earth and fire elements.

Even the slightest change could trigger a huge reaction and Oliver could understand her situation in the moment without her needing to explain anything.

Had Evelyn been paired with someone who had a robust element like Amber or Daniel, or maybe Nadia, she might have had an easier time trying to balance the energies out.

But with her light-attributed espera, which was already quite a potent element in essence, his water-attributed espera would serve as a tough obstacle in her course.

The light element would naturally try to establish dominance immediately over the basic elements, so her primary task was to control the potency and prevent it from immediately trying to overpower the water element.

Trying to create a hybrid element to coexist with a basic one was quite a difficult task, an evident fact that no exorcist could deny.

So it would take her a while to even think of figuring this out on her own before applying anything in person.

Oliver already knew the theory and logic behind this and could just guide her while implementing it physically. It would not only speed up the process by a whole lot but also help them by giving them more time to plan an elemental attack as well.

But he had no intentions of doing so. In fact, he preferred to let Evelyn spend as much time as she wanted to figure out the solution on her own instead.

This would help her develop her critical thinking skills but also give him more time to interact with her—killing two birds with one stone.

Besides, if he were to constantly help her like this every now and then, he would only be hindering her self-growth in the end and messing things up more than they already were.

Crack!

A sharp cracking sound echoed as the talisman she was applying espera to began to show signs of fracture. The paper started to develop visible cracks as if it were a rock that was slowly breaking apart.

"Oh no!" Evelyn panicked a bit as she lost control of the talisman. And before she could do anything, a thunderous explosion blasted through the surroundings as the talisman unleashed all its stored energy.

Boom!

The talisman released all of the excessive energy inside it in a burst, sending out a hot wave of espera that forced her to retreat due to sheer force.

The intensity and closeness of the explosion should have scorched her face black, however, as the smoke started to clear out, she slowly opened her eyes only to see a giant wall of water floating in front of her face.

Tilting her face to the side, she noticed Oliver, who had his palm facing in her direction.

'He used the water barrier…' she thought as she glanced back at the water shield that had protected her from the blast and was in front of her face. It was shimmering blue.

This water wall had saved her face from being burned. She stared at the water wall which was slowly shifting its form, wiggling as if it was beginning to water, facing difficulty in maintaining its form before it finally collapsed.

She watched as it crumbled before dripping down on the ground beneath her feet after it had absorbed the impact from the blast.

"Thanks…" she whispered, feeling a mix of embarrassment and gratitude, thinking that she had made such a big blunder.

Her face heated up as her cheeks flushed red after the realization.

She didn't expect the talisman to directly detonate or lose control so quickly.

She had expected that the control over the talisman would be as easy as it was when she had practised it alone.

However, what she had thought was wrong. It seemed that earlier, it was easy only because she had been supplying purely light-attributed espera towards the talisman, without having any obstruction in the circuits.

But in the end, the difference when it came to applying and balancing the espera turned out to be much more challenging than she had anticipated!

So huge that she couldn't believe it. Despite all her efforts, she was not able to control the flow and in the end lost it, leading to such a disaster.

"Haah… it was honestly hard. Be careful, you are next," she warned Oliver and shook her head.

Evelyn retrieved another talisman and began to fill it halfway with her light-attributed espera.

After double-checking the talisman, she handed it over to Oliver, who had been beside her watching her fill it closely.

"Here you go!"

Oliver received the talisman and studied it intently without doing anything else.

It went on for a minute, making her curious, albeit a little confused as well.

Finally, she couldn't stop herself and asked, "What are you doing?" she paused before adding, "You have been staring at it for so long."

"Oh, it was nothing. I will start right now."

Oliver quickly shrugged it off as nothing and went to work directly. He started channeling his water-attributed espera inside the circuits of the talisman, his flow steady while fluently controlling the element.

Unbeknownst to Evelyn, he was secretly using [Cosmic Void Gaze] to observe the talisman's intricate circuits before.

With its help, he was able to very minutely observe the intricacies of the complex circuits in fine detail, giving him a significant advantage.

He was using the [Cosmic Void Gaze] on a suppressed level, just to graze off the details.

Oliver began channeling his water espera into the talisman's circuits, his flow steady and controlled. Secretly, he was using [Cosmic Void Gaze] to observe the talisman's intricate circuits.

This ability allowed him to see the complex patterns in detail, giving him a significant advantage. He used it discreetly, using it just as he had in the clan market while purchasing useful stuff for himself.

The [Cosmic Void Gaze] provided an extremely detailed map of the talisman's circuits, allowing him to channel his espera with precision.

The intricate designs of the talisman unfolded before his eyes, each line and curve revealing the secrets of its construction. The insight he had gained from this was invaluable, giving him knowledge that would otherwise normally take a significant amount of time for someone to master.

'I can really do well with talismans using these special eyes. I will definitely have an edge over others,' he thought, a small smile playing on his lips as he continued his work.
